We’re going to be learning a lot about the great brands under the umbrella of the group. Companies like BRC, Zavoli, TA, OMVL, EMER and many others. Also we will go deep into the important developments of the HPDI natural gas engine and what its recent certification in China means for this business.Of course it’s also a must for us to go ahead and analyze together with David what the future has in store for the alternative fuels industry.Remember that all the links, images and videos that we will mention in this episode will be in the podcast notes and you can find them by visiting http://ricardocarmona.io/episode29Resources:Check the Westport Fuel Systems WebsiteDavid’s Linkedin Profile
It's a moment to reflect and here's what made for us  a successful 2020 and will make 2021 our best year ever. Next season we will have an amazing podcast...
It's time to learn what makes Asia so special around Natural Gas Vehicles. But according to William Aw (VP of ANGVA) one common denominator in countries like China, Singapore, Malaysia, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand or India is the part that governments play in the massification of our beloved alternative fuel. Unlike American and European markets, in Asia, states play a big role in supporting the companies rooting for natural gas.In part one, we are going to understand the panorama for the top 3 Natural Gas Vehicle population countries in Asia and analyse what made them possible.
This company, which started with basic natural gas dehydration products more than 53 years ago, is now at the top of renewable energy developments in 2020. With Innovation at its core their, purification solutions are already leading the way at many CNG, RNG, and Hydrogen facilities.Xebec is a company with air and gas purification and started in the dehydration business for natural gas, but afterward, they developed natural gas dryers in the ’90s.In 2004, new renewable gas purification divisions were created at Xebec, BGX for Biogas, and H2X for Hydrogen for their respective solutions and they're also experts in CNG station filtration and dehydration systems.Daniel explains that their adsorption systems work avoiding all of the moisture and dust to go into the compressor; the water will move to all of your piping, increasing corrosion; and ultimately can go into the vehicles implicating ulterior problems.According to Daniel, it is very important to have present that CNG Stations that receive RNG (Renewable Natural Gas) need to be very aware that depending on the technology being used to produce that RNG, the water content in those streams often have higher residual water content. Since this gas is not as dried, Xebec recommends a fully automated dryer that will regenerate every day. So from my perspective, countries that have not started having RNG injected into the grid, would eventually receive it, so having your station ready it’s a big deal.Daniel explains that what's coming next for Xebec is Hydrogen. There is a significant interest in using hydrogen as a transportation fuel and energy storage solution, and Xebec has the technology to purify Hydrogen up to 99%, which positions the company in a wonderful place for the next few years. Here’s what we discuss in this episode:How Daniel Routhier got into the Natural Gas Business (3:39)About Xebec and the Biogas, Hydrogen and Natural Gas Divisions (5:30)What’s the importance of filtration and drying at your CNG station(11:00)About water content while compressing natural gas (16:15)What happens if your CNG station doesn’t have a dryer (21:15)What are the special filtration needs for RNG refueling stations (29:45)About the importance of tackling the small-size dairy farms and Biogas producers (36:05)On the focus of Hydrogen for Xebec (37:45)Resources:Check the Xebec Website Reach out to Daniel on LinkedInXebec on Twitter
In this episode, I bring you a webinar interview where I lay out the specific stories on how to select a good CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for your CNG stations and many stories on the actual implementation. We have experienced a great deal of success by implementing our CMMS solution. Increasing preventive maintenance, decreasing corrective maintenance, boosting productivity and employee morale, and reducing costs have already been achieved. We continue very excited to see what the future will bring. Here’s what we discuss in this episode:About what is the business model of Natgas México (3:05)What are the right reasons to select a maintenance software (CMMS)? A natural gas bus drives past you, and it suddenly lights a bulb inside your head, it quickly triggers a click on your mind on how to save money, on how to help your country. This happened to Bruce Winchester around 2009 while working for the Ministry of Natural Resources in Canada, without knowing that several years after that he would be the Natural Gas Vehicle Alliance Executive Director. With all his public policy background experience, he represents the industry (producers, distributors, equipment, fleet users) in one of the countries with the most prolific technology developments around the NGV sector. At this moment Canada showcases around 140 refueling locations, where about 45 of are high capacity, in great locations specific for the long-haul transportation sector. The remaining of those are time filling stations for refuse or bus fleets. Not very impressive numbers considering that Canada is the 3rd largest natural gas producing country in the world. The success stories of Canada in the NGV sector are tightly related to the long history of automotive manufacturing of the country. An industry with a long tradition in automotive technology innovation.Cummins Westport, Agility, Luxfer, and Kraus are examples of innovative leadership and high-quality manufacturing.….More in the Part 2 interview with Bruce that will be published soon. Here’s what we discuss in this episode:How Bruce got into the NGV business (4:30)About the development of the NGV Industry in Canada (10:00)How the companies and truck fleets became interested in NGVs (14:02)Greenhouse Effect Emissions in Canada (18:00)What have been the Federal Government Initiatives regarding NGVs (19:01)How the CNG station market evolved from light-duty to heavy-duty (24:00)How many CNG stations does Canada have?
