On this episode of How + Y I had the opportunity to connect Mike Crabbe.  Mike is a Resource Development Coordinator with United Way Oxford.  While I think everyone knows and appreciates the job done by the United Way it was a great experience to dig deeper into just how many ways they positively affect our community. Mike does a great job conveying many of the ins and outs of all that is the United Way including the steps they have taken to adjust to COVID-19 so that those that rely on their help can continue to get it.  To be honest, this one was an eye opener for me.  I wasn't aware just how much they did to help people here in our community.  I am very thankful to everyone at the United Way and am glad to help spread the word about this great organization!Where to go for all things United Way:Web:  https://unitedwayoxford.ca/who-we-are/Facebook: @unitedwayoxfordTwitter:  @unitedwayoxfordInstagram:  @unitedwayoxfordHow to find me:Web:  devonyoung.caPodcast:  The Devon Young PodcastFacebook:  @DevonYoungC21Instagram:  @DevonYoungC21Twitter:  @DevonYoungC21Linked IN:  @hiredevonyoungYoutube:  Devon YoungThank you for your time!
On this episode of how + Y I had a lot of fun chatting with the Chief Operating Office of Century 21 Heritage House Anthony Montenaro.  Anthony began working with us at C21 about a year and a half ago and I think I speak for many of my coworkers when I say that it's been a pleasure getting to know him.  Not only does he have it together on the business front but he's a great person that brings so much good energy to the office on a daily basis.  Among other topics we discuss how COVID-19 may affect the local market as well as the real estate industry as a whole.  I think it's safe to say that many of the innovations created out of this pandemic are probably here to stay, and that's not a bad thing.  As we move to a point where COVID-19 no longer controls our lives it's my hope that we don't forget the lessons learned during it.  The importance of adaptation and innovation in order to keep the wheels turning has been a massive contributor towards the upcoming resurrection of our local local economy.  How to find Jamie:Twitter:  @realestatemontyLinkedIN:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/anthonymontanaro/How to find me:Web:  devonyoung.caPodcast:  The Devon Young PodcastFacebook:  @DevonYoungC21Instagram:  @DevonYoungC21Twitter:  @DevonYoungC21Linked IN:  @hiredevonyoungYoutube:  Devon YoungThank you for your time!
On this episode of How + Y I had the opportunity to connect with Jamie Tieche.  Jamie and I discuss many things, but most prominently we chat marketing and business.  While not currently his full time occupation, Jamie has and still runs a marketing company where he works to help businesses grow.  Jamie and I talk marketing but we also had a very good discussion about innovating during the tough times that we’re currently going through.  Sometimes we get trapped in the ‘business as usual’ mindset instead of looking towards new and improved ways to market and operate.  COVID-19 has sped this process up for many and we don’t foresee these innovations leaving any time soon.  I found this chat to be extremely fun which is probably why it lasted so long.  The time flew by to say the least.  I think the reason I enjoy talking with Jamie so much is because he possesses so much knowledge about a subject matter that I am so interested in.  I hope that you enjoy this chat as much as I did.How to find Jamie:Web:  themarketingmentor.caFacebook: ‘Jamie Tieche:  The Marketing Mentor’Twitter:  @jamietiecheInstagram:  themarketingmentor.caLinkedIN:  Jamie TiecheHow to find me:Web:  devonyoung.caPodcast:  The Devon Young PodcastFacebook:  @DevonYoungC21Instagram:  @DevonYoungC21Twitter:  @DevonYoungC21Linked IN:  @hiredevonyoungYoutube:  Devon YoungThank you for your time!

On this episode of the Daily Take, I chat about a couple of things that I consider to be important when preparing your home for sale. These items are not meant to be stand alone items but rather, things that I have seen neglected by people that have done some good work in getting their homes ready for the market.  I see them as being rather inexpensive in comparison to their overall impact. The video of this take is available on my Youtube channel as well. Thanks for listening.
On this episode of the Daily Take, I discuss some of the reasons for and against waiting until spring to sell your home.  In this discussion there are certainly reasons for both as I believe you will find in my take.On a whole, I would say that the most important thing to note is that it is market and property dependant.  I don't believe waiting until spring is always best and I also don't think it's the best strategy for all properties to be listing in the winter. I hope that this information helps you or someone you know.If you have a question that you would like my take on, please send it in.  I'd be glad to put out my opinion. This is also available on my youtube channel:  Devon Young
On this episode of the Daily Take, I discuss something that we see very often.  That is, the holding of offers.  Generally, this is done by sellers to increase their chances of getting multiple offers on their listing.  That said, like everything, this strategy does have potential downside. Thank you for listening and please don't hesitate to hit me up on any of my social medial channels:FB:  DevonYoungC21Twitter:  DevonYoungC21IG:  DevonYoungC21Linked IN:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/hiredevonyoung/YouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCncqG8ZuSZcZ6mVA_dGVIDg?view_as=subscriberThanks again
On this episode of the Daily Take, I chat about pre-inspections and the pros/cons of doing one prior to listing your home.  I hope that you enjoy!
The Daily Take is back after a little bit of time off.  This is where I look to provide short pieces of real estate specific content to potentially help educate those that are looking to make a move in real estate. While irrevocability isn't a widely talked about detail within an offer, it is important and managing it is of importance... especially in a fast paced market. Thanks for listening.
Quickly putting my thoughts out there on where I am at.  Life has changed a lot for me over the last year or so and finding a balance is a process.  Would love to hear how others have found their way.   Happy New Year to everyone... Hope that 2020 is good to you.
What to do first?  How to be prepared?I sit down with Derek Truelove, a local lawyer with Nesbitt Coulter Law and discuss the handling of Estates [especially on the real estate end]  It's never an easy situation to deal with but it is our hope that this info can help those in this position to handling things as efficiently as possible.
On this take, I discuss some of the larger costs that are associated with purchasing a home.  Thinks like legal fees, land transfer tax, etc.  I hope this helps.  Thanks for listening.
On this episode, I talk about pre-approvals.  Are they important?  Are all pre-approvals equal?  I think the answer to this question can help buyers as they proceed along their path towards their next home purchase.
On this Take I discuss a question that I received from a friend looking to pull some equity for the purpose of a home reno.  I quickly discuss how this can be done.  I hope this helps someone out there!
On this take, I talk about some of the best ways to increase your homes value.  You may or may not like my answer.
On this short take I discuss the pros and cons of seeing a condition of financing while selling.  Unconditional offers generally are not truly unconditional and finding out about an issue early is usually better than late.  I hope you enjoy.  If you have a question that you would like answered, send it in!
