Description
William Tyrrell was a three year old boy who disappeared from the village of Kendall, on the mid-north-coast of New South Wales.
Key facts were kept from the public, from day one. A lot of what was reported, especially early on, was false.
In the new podcast, Nowhere Child, The Australian’s Caroline Overington delves into a case where notions of class and privilege; opportunity and poverty came crashing together, to create a nightmare for William Tyrrell.
Music used in this podcast:
Daniel Birch - Blue Lobster, Trees in the Wind, Marimba on the Loose
Electric-tric - Sketch 9
Kai Engel - September, Smoldering
Swelling - Night I

thanks for updating
Great podcast, excellent interviewing. Thoughtful to all involved and v moving.
Living in Ireland, I had not heard of this case until I heard it on castbox so thanks for making me aware of it. It is unbelievably sad and I do hope that someday William is going safe and sound. Good work to all involved in making this podcast to generate publicity on this poor lost little boy.
This woman speaks in fragments, like she's using endless ellipses. Is that normal Australian journalistic style?
that's interesting I guessed he was in case too. but I didn't know why
incredibly selfish of Alana Smith to insert herself in this case without knowing anything about any of the parties directly involved. ridiculous to state "the public has a right to know", and then provide very little justification.
"look"
It is a tragic case that has clearly destroyed multiple lives, and the most shocking part of this entire podcast is that there are 47,000 Australian children in state care. How is that possibly sustainable ? A Governments core function is not child minding, when do biological parents take responsibility for their choices and care for the children they concieve.
will you be posting each week?
Please be very mindful of how you report on foster families. These amazing, caring, generous people open up their hearts and homes to children who are in tough situations, sometimes suffering neglect and abuse. Williams parents were both drug addicts who have both been in and out of the court system due to violence (BOTH of them) so they have absolutely no right to place blame on FACS or these amazing foster parents.
