Welcome back fellow governors it's time to wrap up the show as we discuss the Pennyworth Season 3 Finale Episode 10 "Highland Wedding". A great episode of Pennyworth with lots of great characters and a fitting close out for everyone. Pennyworth Season 3 Episode 10 “Highland Wedding” Synopsis Episode Written by: Bruno Heller Episode Directed By: Rob Bailey Across London Merry Cow Dairies deliver milk laced with the hallucinogen Lullaby to the unsuspecting tea drinking population. Francis Fuchs is basking in the glow of his plan coming to fruition. But he realises that his loving followers have quickly become an angry mob as he is beaten to death. Witnessing the murder and learning of the tainted milk, Dave Boy and Sally head to the Queen Anne's Revenge to warn all of the patrons of the impending danger. Meanwhile Lucius gets an SOS out of Level Seven and Alfie and Martha break in to save them. But Lucius can't leave without saving Bet and the rest of the PWE's and locking General Thursday and his army in the bunker. When Alfie sees the carnage caused by the infected Londoners he jumps in his car, grabs his reluctant girlfriend Sandra, heads to the Queen Anne's Revenge with everyone else to arm themselves, have a nice cold pint and wait for this to all blow over. Without knowledge of the outside world, General Thursday calls PM Aziz for assistance. But the PM has been affected by Lullaby and believes Thursday is starting a coup. While the two argue and their anger escalates, Alfie declares his love for Sandra and she agrees to marry him.As tensions get worse and worse between General Thursday and the PM, Alfie gets everyone from the Queen Anne's Revenge on a London Bus and picks up his mum and The Wayne's to take them out of the city. With everyone gathered to witness Alfie and Sandra’s wedding their vows are interrupted as a bomb ordered by general Thursday is dropped on Number 10 Downing Street as the Prime Minister awakes from his hallucination. Pennyworth Season 3 Episode 9 “Rag Trade” Synopsis Episode Written by: Robert Hull Episode Directed By: Rob Bailey After he murdered his father in Gotham, Thomas Wayne returns to Martha and his daughter Samantha in London. He gets some alone time to explain himself to Martha as Mrs P takes Samantha to the park. Martha's backlash is interrupted by the arrival of Mrs. P who's there to take Samantha to the park. But wait…who was that that left their home with their daughter? It's a previously unseen Person With Enhancements who is able to make themselves look like anyone. They want money from Thomas and wants him to admit to his crime. While Thomas follows all of the instructions to bring his family back together, Alfie tries to help them catch the PWE that is impersonating his mum. The PWE catches them all and reveals themselves to be CIA agent Virginia Devereaux. Still angered by Thomas exposing her plan with the Lullaby drug, she tries to force Thomas to kill his wife but as Thomas turns on her and Alfie interrupts, Martha guns down Virginia Devereaux, killing her. Meanwhile Lucius Fox follows his plan to find his PWE's from the government's secret Level 7. He learns that their experiments are killing innocent people. When he finds a way to free them, they team up with a now powered Bet Sykes and turn on their captors as her sister Peg returns with her adopted daughter. Alfie resolves to prove to Sandra that he truly wants to marry her and bring up their child and Dave Boy and his girlfriend Sally reconnect while investigating the death of Dr Glubb. But they may be too late as artist Frances Faulks has already gotten to the milk supply and laced it with his version of the Lullaby Drug. Daveboy has broken up with his girlfriend Sally and Alfie has learned that Sandra is pregnant and he’s the father. Captain Blighty makes the ultimate sacrifice to keep Alfie alive and take out the threat. Following a wake for their fallen commander Alfie proposes to Sandra. Martha Wayne throws herself into her work investigating the new government department "Level 7", Lucius refuses to work with her even though he is the leak that gave her the sensitive information. But when the leader of Level 7, General Thursday, kidnaps his remaining PWEs, Lucius steps up and takes over the quest to recover them. Thomas remains silent to Martha's repeated attempts to contact him. But his sister, Patricia, has returned so she can attend another of artist Francis Faulks events. Unknown to the socialite, Faulks has been drugging greater numbers of his followers with the Lullaby drug attempting to free their minds to become the blank canvas he desires. But as Patricia arrives at the party seated opposite to Sally, she's greeted by the dead body of the drugs creator Dr Glubb and a warning "not to drink the tea". After a wasted day searching Alfie is bothered by seeing an impossible boy in the desolate landscape. Locals tell Alfie that The Prison is there, but it is Without Walls and he should follow the boy he saw. With Dave Boy unwilling to leave the comfortable pub, Alfie locates the Prison entrance on his own. He’s immediately hit with memories of the worst moment in his life. However, the warden quickly knows Alfie is there and increases the prison’s defence system, the Psychic Fence, to capture him. Alfie pushes through the mind-affecting device and locates Mr Khin. Before being able to escape with the reluctant inmate, Alfie gets captured by The Warden and her team. As she tries to use her mysterious mind altering tools to “Fix” Alfie, he’s saved by Lucius Fox and Dave Boy. Lucius explains that the Psychic Fence is one of the People with Enhancements he tried to cure in the past. The powerful PDub brought Alfie here to put him out of his misery. Alfie kindly obliges and returns Zahra’s father to her. Meanwhile after his father’s murder Thomas Wayne is no longer responding to calls from his wife Martha. She is torn between going to Gotham or investigating a connection between John Salt’s mysterious experiments, following his death, and the English Government. Alfie hopes to make amends by visiting the Hebrides in search of her dad. In Northern England, Bet Sykes awakes to find John Salt waxing lyrical about his new plan. He wants to create an enhanced army to take the fight back to the English Government and Captain Blighty. Bet escapes his clutches with Julie in tow but is mortally wounded in the attempt and sends her baby to live with her sister Peggy before bleeding out on a park bench.  Meanwhile, Thomas Wayne pays a visit to his father and family manor. After discussing his understandably tense relationship with their father Patrick, Thomas Wayne returns to Gotham to confront him. Meanwhile Daveboy is also dragged along to the exhibition with his girlfriend Sally. As he is unimpressed by the supposed “art” on display, Sally convinces Daveboy to try out Francis Fuchs new designer drug. The drug, which has been created from the mind altering project lullaby by Dr Glubb, sets him off so much Dave Boy can’t even focus on Alfie Pennyworth’s new job. Prime Minister Aziz has tasked Alfie with protecting an independence advocate, Miss Kin who is being targeted by the president of her home country Kanpur. As Alfie gets closer to Miss Kin he realizes that he was the one who kidnapped her father when he was a British soldier 10 years ago. Elsewhere Bet Sykes, with baby Julia in tow, reconnects with former Raven leader Dr Francis Gaunt. After some tenacious persuasion Bet gets the location of her real target John Salt. But when she catches up with him the evil mastermind has transformed himself into something unrecognizable. We are back with Pennyworth Season 3 Episode 4 Silver Birch on our latest podcast as Alfie and the Boys get a job at the Tower of London. But he’s missed all the trouble at the Wayne house. While Sandra’s PR team circle her for press engagements, Alfie gets himself over to work at the Queen Anne’s Revenge. Soon after arriving, Patrick Wayne turns up with a job for him. His son Thomas is locked up in the Tower of London. With the help of some impressive gadgets from Lucious Fox, getaway driving from Mr. Chadley and the loved up brute force of Dave Boy, Alfie stands to earn a cool Million Quid to break him out and put him on a plane back to Gotham. He had a pretty good plan but the guards are on to them too quickly and Prime Minister Aziz puts out a warrant to arrest Alfie, knowing he’s at the centre of the break out. With Thomas refusing to leave his family and corrupt CIA officer Virginia Devereaux calling for her men to finish the job and kill Martha, it could have been a very bad day. Luckily Alfie anticipates the double crosses and has Prime Minister Aziz arrest the lot of them. As Daveboy’s part in the job is done he goes to meet his new posh girlfriend at the Art Gallery she works at, owned by eccentric artist Francis Fuchs. Meanwhile with Martha safe after her ordeal, Mrs. Pennyworth meets a new possible love interest and a masked buyer contacts Doctor Glubb to persuade the hallucinogen-making scientist to work for him. Pennyworth Season 3 Episode 1 “Well To Do” Synopsis Episode Written by: Bruno Heller Episode Directed By: Rob Bailey Five years after the English Civil War put an end to The Raven Union, Alfie, Dave Boy and Bet Sykes are busy rounding up People With Enhancements (PDubz) and delivering them to the government through Martha Wayne and Lucious Fox. Meanwhile, Thomas and Martha are surprised when they are visited by Patrick Wayne, Thomas’ estranged father, who is in town on business to find a missing asset, Dr Glub who recently evaded and killed his CIA handler. He is accompanied by a lady called Virginia Devereaux who is mandated to do whatever is needed. Alfie and Dave Boy have a new job to track down a missing socialite Jessica Thistle and return her to her parents. It’s a good paying gig but Bet is distracted trying to find former Raven leader John Salt. She finds two former Ravens and after killing them both she’s left with a concrete lead on John Salt and a baby. The lads track Jessica to the commune of Sister Suzie and take the drugged up girl back home. But after one night at home Jessica murders her parents and turns up on Alfie’s doorstep covered in blood Pennyworth Season 3 Episode 2 “Many Clouds” Synopsis Episode Written by: John Stephens Episode Directed By: Rob Bailey The mystery of the Thistle’s death continues at the highest level of government, as Prime Minister Aziz takes an active interest in the case when connections are made to the CIA activity in England by Martha and Lucius Fox. Alfie and Dave Boy move Jessica into hiding, after an attempted kidnap from the hospital where she was being held. They move her to a “safehouse” owned by Sandra, Alfie’s former love interest, and currently number 3 in the music charts. Meanwhile, in an attempt to build back their relationship Thomas offers to help his father find his missing asset and suggests putting Alfred Pennyworth on the case. But as things begin to improve between his father they deteriorate between him and Martha as he confronts her about her real job in the field with MI5 that she has been keeping secret from him since the birth of their daughter. As Martha’s job takes her to the commune of Sister Suzie, she learns that a new psychotropic drug developed by Doctor Glub was trialed on the members of the commune. Before she can garner more information the CIA barge in killing Sister Suzie and almost taking out Martha before Alfie and Dave Boy show up in the nick of time to dispatch the secret servicemen. Realising Jessica was exposed to the drug, Alfie and Dave Boy race to Sandra’s.

The end is here as we reach the Pennyworth Season 2 Finale. Episode 10 The Lion and Lamb establishes a new normal for the show along with a surprising addition to the Batverse. Pennyworth Season 2 Finale: Episode 10 Synopsis Episode Written by: Bruno Heller Episode Directed By: Rob Bailey With the recovered vial of Storm Cloud in hand, Alfie, Lucius, Daveboy and Thomas along with his father drive back to London in triumph. As Alfie returns to tell his mother of his dad’s survival and Storm Cloud is taken to the English League all is not quite as triumphant as they appear. Gully Troy is looking for Alfie, his father has something to hide and the vial containing Storm Cloud is a fake! At Raven Union headquarters John Salt rejects the League’s unconditional surrender after they discover his ruse and he makes his way up to his penthouse ready to unleash the real Storm Cloud safely positioned in London ready for detonation. Back in London, with all hope lost, some try and make a run for it while Thomas and Martha say yes and ask Aziz to marry them. Meanwhile, back at Alfie’s home, Mrs Pennyworth is shocked to see her husband but finds it in her heart to forgive him. However, the atmosphere is uncomfortable and tense and things get worse when Alfie learns of his father’s involvement in the Raven Union’s deception. Upset and angry Alfie’s home truths to his father and some words from his wife convince him to reveal the location of Storm Cloud in Lord Harwood's coffin. As they race against time to defuse the bomb they are helped when Salt runs into the fists and boots of Bet and Peggy Sykes back at Raven Union HQ, but Salt manages to push the trigger but is arrested by the army and Fracis Gaunt resumes leadership of the Raven Union. In London Storm Cloud activates but “quick” thinking sees Gully swallow the capsule preventing a devastating detonation, but unfortunately for Gully it detonates in his stomach. Six months later as the Raven Union launches it’s final assault on London, Martha gives birth to a girl and the English League, led by Alfie and Bet Sykes, unleash a new weapon on the Raven Union forces. It's a mission to save England in Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 9 “Paradise Lost” as Alfie and the boys head to Raven Union HQ. We chat about it all in spoiler filled detail on the Pennyworth Podcast. Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 9 Synopsis Episode Written by: Hannah Boschi Episode Directed By: Rob Bailey With less than 48 hours to go until the English League surrender or face annihilation from the detonation of a Storm Cloud device over London, Alfie, Thomas and Martha concoct a plan to infiltrate Raven Union HQ with Daveboy and Lucius to steal project Stormcloud. Meanwhile Bet and Peggy Sykes also infiltrate the HQ with Vicki Du French to rescue Francis Gaunt and get to High Chancellor John Salt. As the boys enter the mouth of the dragon their plan goes wrong and they are captured, beaten and imprisoned. While Lucius, Daveboy and Thomas languish in their cells, Alfie is reintroduced to his tea-trolly father who tries to persuade him to join the Raven Union side. Failing to convince Alfie, Salt informs Mr Pennyworth that they will enact Plan B - Deception. Back in their cells, they have a fortuitous encounter with Bet, Peggy and Vicki Du French who have rescued Frances Gaunt. As Bet and the girls make their way to Salt’s living quarters, Alfie and the boys attempt to escape again and fail. In front of John Salt he gives them a second chance in the ranks of the Raven Union, but is rebuffed. Left with his father, Alfie is offered a chance to escape for a third time which they seize. Alfie, Lucius, Daveboy and Thomas make their way back to London with both the only vial of Storm Cloud and “batteries not included” daddy, who knows more than he is letting on! But as both Parties sit around the negotiating table following the funeral ceremony the Raven Union deliver an ultimatum to the English League to surrender unconditionally or feel the full force of the weapon Storm Cloud. Elsewhere, Bet and Peggy Sykes  seek revenge for Harwood’s death and go after John Salt’s mistress, Vicki Du French.  They hope to use Vicki as a hostage, but while an attack on the conniving Salt is still on the table, Katie again persuades Bet to spare Vicki’s life and so Vicki becomes another window display at Syke’s House of Pain! Meanwhile, after staying in England to work with Thomas Wayne, Martha, Lucius and the English League Alfie has unfinished business with Gully Troy over the affair with his wife Melanie. Confronting him at his house and despite being prepared, Alfie is overpowered and forced by Gully to play a deadly game of cat and mouse in Epping forest. Injured and bleeding out Alfred manages to use all his survival skills to stop Gully and is rescued by his best friend Daveboy and his mother. At Raven Union headquarters as voting by the Raven Council begins to install Salt as the supreme leader a very familiar face joins the unanimous vote in support of John Salt. But sympathisers in the Raven Union hook Harwood up with the Sykes sisters. Surrounded by the army Lord Harwood sacrifices himself so that Bet and Peggy Sykes can deliver vital information to Francis Gaunt.. Back in London, Alfred prepares for his flight to America with his mother and Daveboy. With vicious rumours swirling about their affair, Alfie and Mealanie Troy have a final fling, but the following day Alfie turns down one last job for her husband Gully Troy, who becomes increasingly suspicious and confronts his wife. After a brutal fight with his wife she flees to Alfred where he offers to take her to America as well. Meanwhile, with the knowledge of Stormcloud the US Embassy also prepares to evacuate all it’s personnel from London. At the airport both Thomas Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth decide not to leave London and continue fighting as Thomas and Lucius Fox share their information on Stormcloud with the English League. It's a bumpy road to get out of England in Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 6 as we discuss "The Rose and Thorn" in full spoiler filled detail. Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 6 Synopsis Episode Written by: Bruno Heller Episode Directed By: Jon East As Thomas Wayne rushes to extract Lucius Fox from the Raven Union HQ he enlists the assistance of the English League and specifically Martha who is feeling sick. In return for their help Aziz asks that the CIA warn Alister Crowley that John Ripper is out for revenge for the death of Archbishop Potter. Meanwhile, with the imprisonment of Francis Gaunt tensions fester in the top brass at the Raven Union HQ and Harwood increasingly becomes unhinged, seeing betrayal everywhere, through a cocktail of medicine, alcohol and the plotting of Captain Salt. Alfie and Daveboy are roped in to the rescue of Lucius Fox, who is returned safely to the CIA where he warns of the threat from Project Stormcloud.  Back at  Delaney’s  Alfies and Daveboy’s friendship becomes strained as Alfred’s lies to Sandra and his infidelity with Melanie begin to catch up on him. Out in jolly old London town Crowley is picked up by Ripper but some well laced lip gloss allows Crowley to get the better of Ripper. Dropped off at the English League HQ drugged, hallucinating and fearful a demonic Aziz, quietly whispers that he manufactured the events to rid himself of his main competition. Back at Martha’s apartment Patricia Wayne is surreally painting the buttock of a naked man; but she has the answer to Martha’s sickness. She is pregnant! As they make their move on the local wrestling arena, the plan goes badly wrong when civilians are shot and killed by Banjo, one of the members of Gully’s crew. With news of the botched job circulating in the press, Alfred’s mum suspects his involvement and asks him to move out of the house. His father would be very disappointed in him. Alfie’s love life is just as complicated as Gully’s wife, Melanie, reconnects with him in the Delaney club and once again Alfie shuns Sandra’s affections. Elsewhere the closeness between Bet and Katie develops as they must think of creative ways to hide one of Bets former imprisoners, George the Beefeater, at the sex shop (Sykes Pain Supplies) and Katie learns more about Bet’s past. Meanwhile tensions ratchet up at Raven Union HQ between Harwood, increasingly dependent on medication and booze, and Francis Gaunt as he learns of her secret meeting with the English League and loses trust in his old friend. In our final podcast of 2020, we discuss the mid-season finale of Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 4 "The Hunted Fox". While Alfie is still reeling from his latest loss, the whirlwind that is Patricia Wayne returns to London with a new beau from Gotham. At Bazza’s funeral Alfie decides to team up with Gully to get the money to pursue his American dream. An attack on the Lord Mayor by Alfie, Dave-Boy, Gully and his team to steal gold bars sees tensions rise between Gully and Alfie. At Delaney's, Dave-Boy turns on one of Gullly’s men, Banjo and friendships are on a knife-edge between Gully and Alfie, but as they settle their differences Gully’s wife Mrs Troy and Alfie share a moment down at the bar. Meanwhile, after being shot at by Union forces, Bet Sykes and Katie make it to League-controlled London; but after a couple of days on the streets she finally tracks down her sister Peggy at her new sex aide establishment, Sykes Pain Relief. Elsewhere the English League holds hustings for a new leader and at Raven Union headquarters the high command of Francis Gaunt and Lord Harwood looks delicate as Captain Salt  weaves his spidery web to sow dissent and ensure the deployment of his project StormCloud.  Lord Harwood becomes increasingly impatient at the lack of military success to reclaim London. Salt demonstrates the potential of his chemical weapon to claim total victory as a spy by the name Doctor Lucius Fox watches on. We're discussing Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 3 "The Belt and Welt" the shocking first part of the two-part mid-season finale of Pennyworth. While Alfie gets a visitation from his late father his mum helps a wounded girl back to health and rediscovers her purpose in life. Meanwhile Alistair Crowley’s manipulation of Prime Minister Archbishop Potter is complete as the holy man is captured in a compromising position with multiple sexual partners. Potter takes his own life leaving the way clear as planned by the CIA. Bet Sykes finally makes contact with an appreciative Lord Harwood who arranges for her retrieval but Frances Gaunt is concerned that Bet’s uncontrollable nature puts the Raven Unions' cause at risk. Following the crushing loss of their travel fund, Alfie falsely accuses Captain Gulliver Troy of betraying them. But Gully offers the boys a job to make back their lost earnings.  Back at Delaney’s Dave Boy realises that his drinking has caused their problems. After bragging about their windfall to another group of drinkers at the bar the nefarious group concocted their extortion plan. When Bazza, Dave Boy and Alfie confront the thieves it all gets out of hand and costs Bazza his life in an accidental explosion. Will Dave Boy recover from his part in the death of his best friend? This week we're discussing Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 2 "The Burning Bridge". There's a bump in the road for Alfie's plans, but who is behind it? Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 2 Synopsis Episode Written by: Bruno Heller Episode Directed By: Danny Cannon Alfie and the boys have the money and are ready to head for a new life in the USA, but Alfie is having trouble telling Sandy at the club of his decision to leave England and he still can’t convince his mum to move with him; as she  still struggles with the death of her husband and Alfie’s involvement on that fateful night. As the Raven Union make plans to press their advantage over the English League, differences between Lord Harwood and Frances Gaunt bubble to the surface over the terrifying project Stormcloud. To make things worse for the English League, the CIA has decided to undermine their leadership as they go after British PM Archbishop Potter over his moral stance against the newly developed hydrogen bomb. While Thomas is uncomfortable with this course of action he makes plans to employ his old satanic adversary - Anthony Crowley - to discredit Potter. Elsewhere Bet Sykes is still on the run from the Raven Union with her hostage, Katie Browning; and Alfie finds himself embroiled in another hostage situation. With his mum kidnapped, Alfie , Dave-Boy and Bazza attempt to rescue her, but things head south quickly as Inspector Assiz and the police interrupt the hostage negotiations. In the confusion the ransom of £20,000 is taken by the kidnappers and while his mum is safe the loss of the money puts Alfie's American plans very much on hold. It's finally returned! We're discussing Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 1 "The Heavy Crown". As Alfie, Bazza and Dave-Boy plan for their future union forces close in all around them. Welcome back Alfie. Sláinte Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 1 Synopsis Episode Written by: Bruno Heller Episode Directed By: Danny Cannon All has changed in England, Lord Harwood has established the Raven Union under authoritarian rule and the No Name League accompanied by the Queen and church have retreated to enclaves as the English League. Captain Sykes is heading up Raven Union interrogations in Norfolk, but hasn’t quite settled in yet and really does not appreciate her superior officers request for a cuppa. She dispatches her boss and helps a suspected Leaguer to escape the detention centre. Meanwhile Alfie, Dave-Boy and Bazza run the Delaney club in no-man's land in the London enclave of Soho keeping the peace between Raven and Leaguer. After hours the boys continue as guns for hire. As the Raven Union presses their advantage, Alfie is approached by Martha to infiltrate enemy lines and kidnap a Union Officer called John Salt, a seemingly unimportant logistics man in the Union army. Pennyworth uses a former army veteran, Captain Gulliver “Gully” Troy, to play both sides against one another for money to further his dream of moving to America; Little does he know, with Salt returned to the Ravens he can continue his work on project Storm Cloud, a plan to deal a deadly chemical attack against the English League and the enclaves of resistance.
