Sacred Wind Communication is a telecommunications company that services the Northwestern part of New Mexico. They work to provide broadband access to rural tribal communities, mainly the Navajo Nation.
Kyle Jim of Diné Introspective discusses the organization, its mission and programming. The programming includes a Family Voices Circle and Enchant the Environment, which integrates food sovereignty and the outdoors.
Marissa Naranjo, Policy Coordinator for the All Pueblo Council of Governors joins us to talk about the APCG Youth Committee. IAD intern Shayna Naranjo, also a member of the APCG Youth Committee, shares her experience as well.
IAD manages two programs - Tobacco Cessation and Prevention Program as well as Special Projects. IAD staff Drew Roybal-Chavez and Kelly Barela-Rivera discuss the guidelines, deadlines, and grantees for these programs.
Bounce Back, an event sponsored by Tewa Women United, was held on September 7th at the Valdez Park in Espanola, NM. The event focused on food and seed sovereignty and featured a panel discussing the topic.
Stephanie discusses IAD's initiatives to address the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls crisis, such as the NM MMIW Task Force. She also highlights key legislation in New Mexico and other states to be aware of.
