NPL Round 1 Review

2020-03-1743:35

With no European football, we review the NPL's opening weekend and grab a few interviews. Football West has just announced the cancellation of grassroots football until the 14th of April. This episode was recorded before that announcement.
Perth SC and Floreat won their respective semi-finals to earn a spot in this Saturday's NPL night series final. We watched Perth SC take on Glory and mentioned Good Will Hunting along the way. The boys also react to Liverpool's first loss of the season.
Just the OG's in the studio as Karrar fails a late fitness test. Never mind that nonsense, the semi-finals for both the NPL and State League Night series have been decided. Spurs have no strikers and Madrid have no luck away to Levante. Absolute sauce!
Only one semi final spot is up for grabs after Perth, Floreat and Gwelup booked their ticket to the final 4. Who will join the early front runners? Elsewhere Mourinho catches up with JT, Gnabry scores a beauty and the picture in Italy changes once again.
A few bewildering results both home and abroad. Karrar's back in to help with the State league recap,  while Italy and Germany heat up in the Premier league's absence.
NPL night series continues while the state league pre season kicks off. We get Kel on the blower to have a look around WA and discuss the embryonic stages of 2020. Mourinho was at his best, Haaland was at his normal and the PSG/Montpellier referee was at his worst.
The boys are back in town Thin Lizzy style to take a look at a few WA signings before the night series begins. Plenty of action in England, Spain and Germany too. Get stuck right in!
The boys resurface from their FIFA slumber to bring you some hot football chat. Friend of the Podcast Karrar Al-Bunajim makes his debut as we share a few yarns and give our early impressions of another year in Ultimate Team. Enjoy!
The Azzuri pull off a magnificent treble by winning the mens, u20's and u18's top 4 cup finals during a memorable September afternoon at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium. Interviews with Gary Marocchi medal winner Kristian Santich (Perth SC - 10:40) and u20's MOTM Jayden Gorman (Perth SC - 19:55). We also react to the Cam Lord news and look forward to the Division 1 promotion play-offs. European round up on there as well, go on Norwich!
Top 4 cup action, Euro 2020 qualifying, Sean winning a tournament, its all here! We also have a chat to Jesse Fuller (9:50 - Floreat) after their his sides weekend win. Get after it you magnificent listeners.
Balcatta squeezed into a top 4 cup spot on the last day of the season! We talk to Kel over the phone to get all the back story about their match with Stirling. Sean goes over the goal-fest at E&D Litis Stadium and Louie travelled to Armadale as two struggling teams looked to finish 2019 on a high. We also gave ourselves the unenviable task of coming up with an NPL team of the Season. Interviews with James Harmer (Rockingham City - 19:55) and Nathan Costello (Armadale SC - 29:55)We chat to friend of the pod and passionate Roma fan Brendon Allen (50:55) about the Rome Derby and his clubs hopes for the season, whilst also tackling another famous European local rivalry.
The penultimate round of NPL action served up plenty of drama and a few spectacular strikes. Interviews with Ryan Montgomery (Stirling Lions - 5:55), George Festa (Floreat Athena - 9:40) and Steve Wheatley (ECU Joondalup -16:50). The play-off/relegation battle in Division 1 & 2 is heating up. We had a fantastic chat to former Perth Glory player and current Pro Football Training coach Mark Lee (29:45) about his role in WA football while also covering our usual European hotspots.
Perth SC are Champions! Massive congratulations to Ramon and the boys for a stunning 2019 league season. ECU surprised Floreat as we chat to Jacks forward Joe Knowles as well as Cockburn City's striker Hasani Sinclair.
