In this episode we are featuring our Scholar Joseph Yusuf who graduated in May 2019 from Howard University as a Media, Journalism, & Film major with a concentration in Audio Production and an Electronic Studio Art minor. Joseph tells us his story growing up with limitations on even living a life past his 20s due to violence, addiction, bullying and other challenges surrounding him. Nonetheless, Joseph's mindset changed after the birth of his daughter, Jakayla, who inspired him to be a true father and an example to her. Despite the lack of support for teen dads, Joseph is determined to change this impact and advocate for the unique and crucial role of a father. With the support of Generation Hope and his community, Joseph started his college education and embarked on a journey of hard work to cultivate healthy, positive, peaceful and loving lifestyle. He  was the Scholar Speaker at the Generation Hope Gala a couple years ago and ultimately was awarded the Generation Hope Scholar of the Year award in 2019. Joseph opens up with such courage and joy about his experiences overcoming his environment, learning about mental health, taking advantage of networking, being a loving parent and pursuing his education throughout his 5 year  participation in Generation Hope.  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/generation-hope/message
