Judgement kills. It’s something we do a lot of in our lives but it can be detrimental to achieving our goals. The desire to “be right” is real and with it comes judgement that keeps us from reaching our potential and goals. Even the obvious is not always obvious. Help the team members you lead reduce that judgement and increase production and performance. Feedback welcome at big.lang@outlook.com. GET UP!
When you come up on the time of year where setting goals is popular don’t miss the opportunity as a leader to make an impact. Ask the question, What are you fighting for? Many people think that they are fighting for something but in reality, they’re just trying hard. Hoping things work out. Help the people you lead fight for something but shortening up the time frame of that goal. Break it down to the ridiculous, make it specific and do your part to keep it in front of them. It will make a difference in the success rate but most important, you will find that some folks aren’t fighting for anything. You can be the game changer there. Thank you as always. Reach out with any feedback at big.lang@outlook.com. GET UP!!!

Chips are good

Chips are good

2019-10-2312:38

Some say it’s bad to walk around with a chip on your shoulder. While I realize that if that is the only thing you think about and act on there can be some negative but I don’t think we utilize that chip enough when we need some extra motivation and we all need some extra motivation from time to time. We all have a story. A time where we had to overcome challenges in our lives. It doesn’t have to be something that is picked up by TMZ. It only needs to matter to you. Allow that chip to push you during the times you need it. Leadership tip is to develop a “Hot or Not” list for your team. Feedback welcome at big.lang@outlook.com. Thank you for your time and GET UP!!

Adjust your target

Wether in business or in leading a team, we have worked or played with team members that have been here a while. Veteran team members and help create a culture or start a company. Sometimes our veteran’s production becomes average or they themselves become complacent and it is our job as the leader to give them a “check up from the neck up”. This episode will help you as that is not an easy task. 12 minutes that will help you Get UP in front of your people to speak about topics that are important to talk about in a creative way. Lead well. Feedback is alive at big.lang@outlook.com.
Quick Hitters

Quick Hitters

2019-10-0312:33

Today I have included a couple shorter stories or “quick hitters” if you will about improving positivity and getting our folks out of their comfort zones. These don’t go as far in depth as usual but I figure I would hit you with a few stories during this track then only one. The leadership tip illustrates how it is important to lie to the people you lead every once in a while so thanks for listening and giving your twelve minutes. As always, feedback is a gift so keep it coming to big.lang@outlook.com. Thank you and GET UP!!!!
Coffee’s for closers

Coffee’s for closers

2019-09-2611:32

This episode refers to the different generations that we work with and as I hear quite a bit, frustrate us with their habits. I think it is a right of passage to complain about the generations that we don’t understand so Coffee’s for closers is about the transformation that coffee in the office has had since the early 1900’s and how to use those facts to communicate to our younger generations instead of complaining about their habits. In a sales environment we tend to complete actions that can be repetitive. After we have sold for a while, preparation and practice can go into hiding. The same can happen with leadership - we are huddling up our team but didn’t prepare or rep it out. Well our skill and results can follow that path. The final episode or “album” of season 1 of Content 12 is a reminder of how important the words we speak are and to remain sharp with practice and preparation. Album #2 begins next week. Thank you for your time and feedback as always at big.lang@outlook.com. Get up!!

I’m the smartest!

Being the expert is valuable. You must know your product and company in order to influence and persuade. Sometimes our sales professionals believe that is the only focus needed to succeed. What is just as, if not more important, is the way you make your client feel. Listen to this episode for some perspective about United Kingdom politics to illustrate how important that skill is. Thank you for the continued support and feedback. Please keep it coming at big.lang@outlook.com. Get Up!!!
Many times our folks wan the latest and greatest tech or weight room. Maybe even we as leaders want those things however, the fancy and new doesn’t replace the fundamentals that need to occur to have a successful organization,. Sometimes the desire for technology to help us do our job keeps us from seeing the opportunities right in front of us. If you have been a part of that, listen on and you may see that the answer is right in front of you. Thank you for your participation in the Content 12 podcast. Any feedback welcome, big.lang@outlook.com.
Not about you

Not about you

Today’s episode is about getting up in front of your leaders. At times in our leadership journey we make the results about us. About our name and we mention that we are disappointed with our teams performance. Episode 5 tells a tale about what is like to shift the focus off of you and make it about the team. When you decide to be a leader, it’s not about you anymore. I appreciate your time. Thank you for the feedback you have given. Keep it coming at big.lang@outlook.com. Get Up!!!!
We have it backwards

We have it backwards

With a small company or a team no one knows about, sometimes we fall victim to thinking that we can’t compete or even win. We think that “big guy” has the advantage. We have it backwards - No red tape, agility and creativity carry the day. New or smaller have great advantages. Focus on your advantages and rule the day. All feedback is welcome, big.lang@outlook.com.

Finish Strong

2019-08-0712:01

This is the introductory podcast for Content 12. Content 12 is about public speaking, “getting up” in front of your group whether it be a group of leaders that you lead, a sports team that you are the coach of or as the leader of a sales team. Whether you lead 5, 20, 100 or 500 team members, you will still find value here. The focus will be on your use of content to tell a relevant story in hopes that your people will hear you, and make a decision to be better because of your content, not because you told them to do so. The first episode is about finishing a month or a season strong even though you are short of the goal you set out for the team. Each episode will contain a leadership tip that you can add to your tool belt. This weeks tip is “The 80/20 rule”. Here is to adding value to the lives of the people you lead not because of your title but because of your content.
