(small trigger warning! At 32:24-33:30 we discuss rape in biblical texts briefly) Happy New Year everyone! We hope you all had a pleasant, socially distant New Years Eve! Today we're talking about virginity and how the church and our parents tried to shape our ideas of sex, when we should have it, what kind of sex we should have, how often we should be having it, and HOW INCREDIBLY INAPPROPRIATE THAT IS. Why are parents and pastors so concerned with the genitals and activities of the genitals of children and teenagers? Discuss and scream with us.  Intro and Outro: "Feeling Sunny" by Scott Holms  Art: Emily Krieg www.emilykrieg.com  Emily: @emilykriegart  Dom: @hii_imdom
Happy Holidays! Dom and Em return amidst the throes of Covid and discuss the upcoming holidays, different traditions that their families observe and why Kristen Stewart didn't deserve the awful script handed to her in the form of Happiest Season.   Intro and Outro: "Feeling Sunny" by Scott Holms  Art: Emily Krieg www.emilykrieg.com  Emily: @emilykriegart  Dom: @hii_imdom
Happy Pride! In the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests that are still happening all over the globe, we wanted to remind our fellow queers where Pride originated. We wouldn't have Pride without the likes of Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, or Storme DeLarverie, women of color who dedicated their lives to fighting for equality. You cannot discuss Pride without also discussing the systemic racism that targets queer black folx, especially our trans brothers and sisters.  Rest in Peace Tony McDade, Nina Pop, Dominique Fells, and Riah Milton.  Intro and Outro: "Feeling Sunny" by Scott Holms  Art: Emily Krieg www.emilykrieg.com  Emily: @emilykriegart  Dom: @hii_imdom  Tenderbois Club @tenderboisclub  Not Sorry Apparel @notsorryapparel  Black Queer Magic @blackqueermagic  A Tribe Called Queer @atribecalledqueer  ILERA Apothecary @ileraapothecary  Bleu Bowtique @bleubowtique
CONTENT NOTE: At the 36:34 mark to the 39:19 mark we discuss the Jewish cultural ideas on homosexuality which came from their knowledge of assault upon children within other cultures. While we touched on it to educate where homophobia stemmed from within the Jewish and Christian faiths, we acknowledge that this could be triggering. Take care of yourself and skip that part if you need to.  We are Black Lives Matter advocates and we stand with the black community in these troubling racist times. If you can, please donate to the LGBTQ Freedom Fund at www.lgbtqfund.org or The Bail Project. We have posted information on our instagram about the The Bail Project and The National Lawyers Guild.  Did you know that there are lesbians in the direct line to Jesus? In this episode, we discuss the story of Ruth, her relationship with Naomi, and how some biblical scholars think that these two women were more than just companions.  Intro and Outro: "Feeling Sunny" by Scott Holms  Art: Emily Krieg www.emilykrieg.com  Emily: @emilykriegart  Dom: @hii_imdom  Women and Children First: @wcfbook LGBTQ Freedom Fund: @LGBTQ_Freedom
If you've ever been told that tarot cards, astrology, yoga, or crystals are demonic and evil, you might just be a product of evangelicalism. We break down these practices and why evangelicals hate them so much in an effort to shed light on the racism and control that runs unchecked behind church doors.  Intro and Outro: "Feeling Sunny" by Scott Holms  Art: Emily Krieg www.emilykrieg.com  Emily: @emilykriegart  Dom: @hii_imdom
Coronavirus may have kept us from recording but it has not kept our spirits down! We are back with and update on how we are doing in quarantine, how we're keeping up with self care, media that is lifting our spirits, and commentary on how COVID-19 has been affecting the queer community.  Intro and Outro: "Feeling Sunny" by Scott Holms  Art: Emily Krieg www.emilykrieg.com  Emily: @emilykriegart  Dom: @hii_imdom
We welcome back Liam Vella of Support the T and welcome for the first time our friend Alexander Reid to join us in talking about dating as trans and nonbinary people. We talk about our struggles with people "othering" us, people being attracted to and loving us in spite of our trans and nonbinary identities, and the wonderful few who love us for who we are, regardless of our pronouns, identities, and gender expressions.  Intro and Outro: "Feeling Sunny" by Scott Holms  Art: Emily Krieg www.emilykrieg.com  Emily: @emilykriegart  Dom: @hii_imdom  Liam: @genderlessadventure  Support the T: @supportthet  Alexander: @alexanderreid13 / @otterboi13
Hello friends! We're back for part 2 of our Dating Outside series with our friend, Moe, to talk about being a queer Muslim and what it's like to date someone outside of Islam. We go over difficulties with coming out to your family and community, boundaries around pork, and how difficult it can be sometimes to separate religion from culture.  Intro and Outro: "Feeling Sunny" by Scott Holms  Art: Emily Krieg www.emilykrieg.com  Emily: @emilykriegart  Dom: @hii_imdom  Moe: @_aljida  Matthew: @disrespectful_youth  Rietta: @kweenrietta
We're taking on one of the biggest debates of dating when it comes to being a Christian -- dating outside your faith. We discuss how we do it, our conversations and boundaries with our partners, and what we're going to do if we get married and potentially have kids.  Art: Emily Krieg www.emilykrieg.com  Emily: @emilykriegart  Dom: @hii_imdom
We're coming out! We want the world to know! We, along with our friend Shawn, are tackling the topic of coming out - to our family, to our friends, to our churches, and how those experiences have shaped our queerness. Is it necessary to come out? Are your friends owed the experience of you coming out to them? Join us as we discuss these and other questions people have about coming out of the closet.  Intro and Outro: "Feeling Sunny" - Scott Holms  Art: Emily Krieg www.emilykrieg.com  Emily: @emilykriegart  Dom: @hii_imdom  Shawn: @flowercowboy
Do you ever feel like the grind don't stop and all you want to do is take a nap? But what about all your peers who are achieving all their goals while you're just struggling to get by? We feel it too and will be discussing the pressure that we and social media put on ourselves to overachieve and be as busy as possible.  Intro and Outro: "Feeling Sunny" - Scott Holms  Art: Emily Krieg www.emilykrieg.com  Emily: @emilykriegart  Dom: @hii_imdom
