Oh the pod has devolved with the lunacy of the run in.  Although Liverpool's fate has since been sealed we don't know that yet upon recording so come laugh at us being optimistic.  Regardless, we talk FA Cup action and all the fascinating relegation battling results.  We try to guess each other's thoughts and marvel over how Dean Henderson can go from hero to zero overnight despite Palace collecting 9 points from 3 games.  It's all over the board here but it's a fun show.

UCL action boils down to the semis sans English teams, and Liverpool's miracle story book ending for Jurgen sees it's wheels fall off.   Tottenham lose and Villa take the points at Arsenal.  Just when you thought you had the season cornered it throws up some incredible turns.  Burnley's keeper has a wonder game marred by an OG and, despite being 4-0 up, Chelsea children have a spat about a PK.  It's an episode bursting with storylines and you won't want to miss it. Gear up for the weekend and get the low down from last week's action.

We started off on an awful topic in our pre-pod conversation but we were able to quickly bounce back with all the glorious action and bring you the "sexy-side" of the sport.  We've got goals, goals, goals, and an almighty relegation battle weekend.  Points grabbed and lost at the death of a handful of games and we cover it all.  From the bummerfest of City vs Arsenal to the glory of Newcastle vs West Ham.  Catch up with Pep's press conference and find out who Kelly thinks will win the league... or how she avoids the question.  All that and more, inside this week's episode of the podcast! Enjoy and strap in for the RUN DOWN!
Have you ever wondered about our playing careers?  Ever wonder what movies inspire us?  Ever wonder if Kelly has peed herself during practice?  No, neither have we but we are telling you anyways.  For the final international break before the end of the season, we decided to play a short version of 21 questions all relating to our sports lives.  Some answers make us laugh, some bring up tearful moments, but all are the truth.  We do not hold back on embarrassments, anger, or sadness.  So plug us into your earholes and allow us to spill our therapy session into your brains.
Loses and The Rants

Loses and The Rants

International break has begun but not before a few spicy FA Cup ties and a few boring EPL matches.  Honors were split between the two competitions and so was the berth of the action.  We dive into all the action this week and go on a few rants about a certain game.  We discuss the points deduction, the Spanish raids, and all the goals from the English domestic competitions from the weekend.  We even dabble a bit in the quarter final draws for Europe. We do all this while battling foggy minds and stuffy noses.  So grab a beer, or a hot lemon tea for the throats as the second midwest winter is in full effect.

In a week where the table sees a new leader, we were privy to witness a masterclass in tactics and skill in Pep and Jurgen's last Premier League meeting.  Although the spoils were shared it was nothing short of what we expect when these two teams face off.  Arsenal took advantage of the fight and snuck into the lead on their 2024 goal difference boost.  Big games at the bottom of the table all went to draws despite leading positions for the teams who needed it most.  Key teams struggling to stay out of the scrap dropped points.  Newcastle and Chelsea battled for the top half spot and Villa and Tottenham squared off for Champions League spots.  It was a huge weekend for placements and we've covered it all in our St. Pat's Themed episode.
In a week where we both had trouble picking a worst game, their was a standout worst performance.  In Arsenal's 2024 new year, new me look, they've won 7 prems on the bounce by a combined score of 31-3, smashing an awful excuse for a team at Sheffield.  The Gunners are defiantly benefiting from the spotlight being fixed on Liverpool and Man City, but as Gordon warns, if they keep this vein of form up, it won't be for long.  Join us as we celebrate Graham's birthday with a trip around London and a fascinating weekend of Premier League action.

2024-03-0101:19:08

This week was packed with three different domestic competitions, two prem weekends, FA Cup 5th round, AND of course, the small matter of the Carabao Cup Final.  If that wasn't enough action for you then I don't know which sport you should follow because it doesn't get more exciting than that. Maidstone's fairy tale comes to a fiery end, City smashes Luton, and Man United and Liverpool are drawn together, and this was just the FA Cup. Liverpool's youth squad takes on Chelsea's Blue Billion Pound Bottle Job and requires the oldest player on the pitch to score the winner. In the Premier League, Palace and Burnley may have faced off in the most eventful game of the season?  Join us for all this and more by downloading this episode and punching us straight into your earholes.
Old Smoker & Faking Death

Old Smoker & Faking Death

2024-02-2301:18:17

Uncle Roy kicked the bucket, or at least pretended to.  In one of the most OG moves from the almost 80 year old loveable owl-man, Roy faked his own death to expertly avoid the thunderous rumors he was on his way out of Palace.  Shouting at the haters with a wink, "Can't fire me if I'm dead".  The move was akin to faking sick on the day of the big 2nd grade math exam and we applaud him for it.  In other news, Thomas Tuchel was dragged out to the open ocean by Bayern and forced to announce his departure following the end of the season which is the cruelest of opposition to Jurgen Klopp's last dance tour.  The race for Xabi Alonso is well and truly cooking.  Speaking of cooking, Arsenal are red-hot and Ollie Watkins is too.  What a weekend we experienced up and down the table, and capped off a brilliant weekend of action with, what one commentator working for NBC described as, "One of the least exciting matches I've been a part of."  This made it feel like Roy got off easy as he was lying with a full service hospital service and we were forced to watch the horror of the Monday night game.
Valentine's Market Day

Valentine's Market Day

2024-02-1601:14:21

Instead of going out and enjoying the loving embrace of someone special's company, we decided to podcast because, love for this sport is all we need.  We discuss the return of Champions League, the possibility that Kane has brought the Spurs juju to Munich, and a title race that continues to heat up.  And I would be remise to not mention the spicy Kelvin Phillips vs Pep FATgate. So throw the pod on, grab a beverage of your choice and join us for our latest episode.
Maybe one of the lowest days in DITBox history and yet we managed to get in the studio and record.  Our happiness is bringing you content and, honestly, it was therapeutic.  One of the reasons we HAD to get onto the mics was the record goal weekend! We saw 8 of the 10 games have 4+ goals and only 1 game fail to record 3., *cough cough* looking at you BOU vs NFO.  We had two English kids verbally clashing in Spain, Arteta (over) celebrating on the touchline, and Cole Palmer scoring again as Chelsea flounder in the league.
Yes, Gordon made a massive error last week and lost the audio file for the podcast!  We apologize for missing you all last week.  And just when we wanted to go and throw an extra special episode out for you all, Jurgen Klopp decides to quit on us! Hard to get excited about anything when a member of your family tells you they're not coming back.  OK, OK, not that serious but it was giving us major bum vibes all week.  We manage to power through this one with some insanely entertaining mid-week games. Jump into the freshest goal recap we've done in sometime and get your weekend started right.

As the temperature plummets to well below freezing, we decided to pod virtually again.  In a week with only five games, we still manage to squeeze in a solid 90 mins.  Of course we get a little side tracked on account of Kelly's birthday, but hey, when don't we? In this episode we discuss the return of KDB and what it means to the season, Aston Villa's legitimacy, AFCON, and a heart warming story surrounding a world renown manager.  What makes Pep smile?  Are Villa punching above their weight? Does Mo Salah REALLY love his barber that much?  Find out by tuning in this week!
Back in studio with nothing to talk about on the EPL front.  However, there was plenty of domestic action to discuss along with one or two beer bottles being thrown.  Both figuratively and literally.  Tay Swift, the question of existence, and a shocking revelation in the condiment industry all squeeze their way into the podcast as well. Proving once again, we don't need much to fill a podcast with content.  Tune in to recap the FA Cup third round, the Carabao Cup, and setting up Match Week 21.   This is an episode with plenty of extra goodies too!
Back in the saddle again after a nice holiday break.  Refreshed and ready to ignore the three weeks of matches and focus on Week 20.  The topsy-turvy table shake up from Pre-Christmas to New Year's Day was something to behold.  Although we can be assured that the return of KDB, Erling, and Pep's impeccable second half form might leave everyone in the dust, we can at least enjoy the leap-frogging we're witnessing on a weekly basis for the time being.   Only one Red card to mention during the holiday but plenty of goals!  Gordon questions his love for Cole Palmer and Kelly brings him back down to earth by reminding him that he hates everyone who plays for blue teams.  Come rejoin the fun and help us kick off 2024!  Cheers!
Yes, you read that right.  We saddle up and take 5 shots to match the reds received this weekend, 3 courtesy of VAR upgrades.  Of course as the shots increase so do our tangents but we manage to pack all the weekend action into the episode.  From the lack luster Liverpool to the wholesome Roy Hodgson smile, we have you covered for match week 17.  If you try to keep up with us over the holiday weekend to help cope with family, make sure to get a DD.  Merry Christmas to all!!!!
Going Full-Ham & Old Men

Going Full-Ham & Old Men

13 goals in 7 days for high flying Fulham, two clean sheets and an almost historic night at Anfield, does it get any better? Well yes, because now they get us to hype them up in our newest podcast episode. We do our best to cover 20 games over the last 5 days and remember how the world-wind of 9 available points in the blink of an eye shaped the table. Just like that Everton almost erase the 10 point deduction but with Luton starting to find their voice, will the surge be enough for the rest of the season? We also talk Aston Villa's home dominance against the league's best sides, and the top of the table being wide-open.  This episode is as jam-packed with goals and controversies as the month of December for the EPL so strap in, grab a fruity seltzer, and join us in trying to unpack it all.
Another wild, goal filled weekend graced our picture boxes and we are here for it.  An incredible Sunday thrill ride for the title race proceedings left us dying for mid-week action.  We decided to pod on Monday so we don't discuss those events here, but we will be sure to offer our insight on them in next week's episode... cliffhanger! Apart from the scores, the only massive change is the "maybe" sacking of Sheffield United's manager became an actuality. Despite being what feels like forever ago, this episode is a great refresher for the start of crazy season.  Crack open a beer, (or beverage of your choice) and listen to Kelly forget our order of events, and Gordon compare Messi and Ronaldo to The Lion King.
First taste of action back from the third international break of the season and it did not disappoint.  On the precipice of the most grueling time in any of Europe's top flights and we were treated to a flurry of goals, VAR interventions, and last minute winners.  A rather cagey City vs Liverpool game started us off but it quickly gained pace and ended with a wonderfully eventful Fulham vs Wolves match up. We cover it all, including the crazy Maracana scenes, Pep vs Nunez, and the god awful protest from Everton that should seal their season up.
Thanksgiving already!  VAR, Everton, Man United, and FFP are some of the things we are thankful for.  Yes, they're annoying, but BOY do they give us a whole host of topics to discuss with you all!  Seriously though we couldn't have imagined how much fun this was going to be five years ago and we could not be more thankful for the opportunity to release some work week stress into your ear holes. We cap of the final international break until March with some pressing stories on Everton's point deduction, VAR controversy in Brazil, and cap it off with a real discussion on mental health.  We are releasing the pod a day early so you can listen to us while you cook your food, or stuff your gob, or hell, save us for some quiet time on Friday to keep with tradition.  Anyway you decide to listen, we are so grateful to you and the rest of DITBox nation! Happy Thanksgiving.
