Description

I created this podcast to reflect on my life and my role in deepening our understanding of ourselves and the systems that control our lives. My hope is to encourage personal growth by offering ways to improve your internal conversation and by reflecting on important experiences, people in your life, or knowledge that you obtain.

In today’s episode, I am joined by my best friend Mack Callicrate. We discuss the concept of lying as discussed in bell hooks’ all about love new visions. Today’s reflection questions are 1) Do you remember the first time you lied and got caught? What was the reaction? 2) What lies are you telling yourself that prevent you from knowing real love?
For today’s episode, I am joined by my partner Nikolai Clark. We discuss chapter two of bell hooks’ all about love new visions. This chapter covers issues around child abuse and redefining tainted visions of love as we navigate adulthood. Today’s reflection questions are 1) As an adult, how have your expectations of your parents’ expression of love changed? 2) How do you measure actos of love? What is sufficient?

I wanted to get on here today to highlight what has been going on and to hopefully provide some information to justify the outrage and violence regarding the recent protests. I also hope to call out the complacency in white and non-black people of color. I am describing why silence is violent and why it is necessary we all look at the role we play in our everyday lives to contribute to or challenge the oppressive systems we live by.
