Parkway Theater podcast bonus episode! The Parkway Podcast team reviews the American epic ‘The Revenant' (2015). This incredibly real and visceral film follows a frontiersman (Leonardo DiCaprio) on a fur trading expedition in the 1820s as he fights for survival after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. Beyond the all-star casting, the film's cinematography alone has earned the awards it was given and declared to be best viewed on a big screen. Which inspires the team to discuss what other films they would love to watch/would be best in a theater setting. Which films do you put on that list?As always, get in touch with The Parkway Podcast by emailing us at parkwaytheaterpodcast@gmail.com or call and leave a voicemail at 612-217-2520.
The Parkway Podcast team jumps into the spring season with the religious parody ‘Monty Python’s The Life of Brian’ (1979). A different perspective on an age-old tale, the movie follows Brian of Nazareth as he is born in the stable next door to Jesus Christ and spends his life being mistaken for a messiah. Does the film’s irreverent style of humor hold up? Banned in certain countries, is it still as controversial when viewed with a modern lens? Could this movie even be made today? The team answers these questions and more in this episode as they look to the bright side of life.As always, get in touch with The Parkway Podcast by emailing us at parkwaytheaterpodcast@gmail.com or call and leave a voicemail at 612-217-2520.

Is this fun to watch film a version of an Irish Punisher? The team recaps who they are actually revenging and the iconic verbiage that makes this a classic Irish holiday film. As always, get in touch with The Parkway Podcast by emailing us at parkwaytheaterpodcast@gmail.com or call and leave a voicemail at 612-217-2520.
Tune into this special Valentine’s Day episode of The Parkway Podcast as the team discusses the iconic romantic historical fiction film ‘Titanic’ (1997) directed by James Cameron. This monster of a movie (in more ways than one) tells you the tale of a seventeen-year-old aristocrat (played by 21-year-old Kate Winslet) as she falls in love with a kind but poor artist (Leonardo DiCaprio) aboard the luxurious, ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic (RIP). At the time, it was one of the most expensive films ever made and won many awards equivalent of that value. Would things have ended differently if Rose had stayed in her lifeboat? Would they have lived their lives together if Jack would have lived? Is the modern-day context with treasure hunting Bill Paxton really necessary? Can more than one person float on a large, ornate wooden door? These questions and more will be answered by the Parkway Podcast team.As always, get in touch with The Parkway Podcast by emailing us at parkwaytheaterpodcast@gmail.com or call and leave a voicemail at 612-217-2520.

Tune in as the team raves over the pre-CGI practical effects and theorizes on which characters are actually ’the thing’ — and whether a mustache-less Wilford Brimley is technically still Wilford Brimley. As always, get in touch with The Parkway Podcast by emailing us at parkwaytheaterpodcast@gmail.com or call and leave a voicemail at 612-217-2520.
This week The Parkway Podcast reviews the holiday classic, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ (1946). George Bailey (James Stewart) has so many problems (about $8000 dollars' worth) that he is thinking about ending it all - but it's Christmas! That is when an angel steps in to give him a glimpse of life without all the good he has done for others. Once he's reminded of the impact his own existence has made on the lives of those around him, he is then, in turn, saved by the town! Has this number one inspirational film aged well over time? Tune in to this seasonal film discussion and hear why our team also needs to have an angel come visit us this holiday! As always, get in touch with The Parkway Podcast by emailing us at parkwaytheaterpodcast@gmail.com or call and leave a voicemail at 612-217-2520.
The Karate Kid (1984)

The Karate Kid (1984)

2020-12-1053:17

This week The Parkway Podcast recaps the iconic '80s film, ‘The Karate’ Kid' (1984). Join in as they discuss the first of the many films/shows that comprise the Karate Kid extended universe. After arriving from a National Lampoon-esq journey from Southern California, Danny Larusso (Ralph Macchio) finds himself the target of a group of bullies who study karate at the Cobra Kai dojo. Fortunately, he befriends martial arts master Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki "Pat" Morita), who takes Daniel under his wing, training him in a more compassionate form of karate. The Parkway guys find that the film is less about karate than it is an '80s teenage romance, with sporadic bouts of martial arts disguised as manual labor.-Strike hard, strike first, no mercy-As always, get in touch with the Parkway Podcast by emailing us at parkwaytheaterpodcast@gmail.com or call and leave a voicemail at 612-217-2520.
To honor this spooky season, The Parkway Podcast team discusses the Wes Craven’s classic slasher film ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street' (1984) and the midnight mangler Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund). This film asks you to suspend your disbelief slightly as Wes Craven works out his young directing kinks with somewhat clunky character introductions, unbelievably irresponsible parenting and bracing 80’s soundtrack. Tune in to let us know what you think of this icon film as it plays with the borders of dreaming versus reality and having you wonder if you will be sucked into your bed. -Don’t fall asleep. -As always, get in touch with the Parkway Podcast by emailing us at parkwaytheaterpodcast@gmail.com or call and leave a voicemail at 612-217-2520.

Ben Cash (Viggo Mortenson) and his bus “Steve" struggle with finding the balance between bucking the system and accepting what's best for his children in a complicated and sometimes dark world.Tune in and let us know what you think!
