https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Are you taking enough action in your business? To be more specific, are you taking enough of the right kind of action in your business? There’s a big difference between creating busy work that fills up your day and taking clear and focused action that produces results. Tony Robbins said, “The path to success is to take massive determined action.” No matter your area of business, if you want to be successful then you need to determine the right course and then act on it. And if you want those big results then you better be prepared to take action in a really big way! I’d love to hear your thoughts. Drop a comment or send me a message. https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Don’t rely on motivation alone to achieve your goals. Here’s why. When we start a new pursuit, whether it’s designing a brand-new project, writing your next book, or launching a fresh product idea, we’re excited and can’t wait to begin. But as time goes on, the excitement can begin to fade. Just think about how many people you know that fail their New Year’s Resolution each year because the fire they initially had for achieving their goal burned out after just a few weeks. That’s why motivation alone isn’t enough. The late great Zig Ziglar said, “Motivation gets you going, and habit gets you there.” That means it’s important to structure your activities, build routines, and create the necessary positive habits that will help ensure your success. https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Chicken Soup for the Soul author Jack Canfield said, “Your habits determine your outcomes.” Take a moment to think about something you truly want. Consider whether your behaviors and habits are in alignment with this desire. Are your actions bringing you closer to achieving your goal or not? Remember, it’s never too late to course correct. https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Tony Robbins said, “It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but we do consistently.” Think of someone that you consider to be a top performer. Maybe this person is a top athlete, musician, artist, or businessperson. Does this person only show up once in a while? Or has this person developed the habit of showing up “game ready” on a consistent and daily basis? I’m willing to bet it’s the latter. What about you? Now think about the things that you do well. You might do them in a great way but are you performing them in an excellent way? https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Charles Duhigg, a Pulitzer-prize-winning reporter and author of the best-selling book The Power of Habit, said “The key to victory was creating the right routines.” Think about something you really want to achieve. Do you want to develop stronger relationships with those in your circle of influence? https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] In the last two episodes, we discussed quotes on habits by Brian Tracy and John Irving. Today we’re going back in time to discuss a quote by the great philosopher Aristotle. He said, “Habits formed at youth make all the difference.” What habits do you have that were formed during your youth? Are they good, bad, or otherwise? If they’re good, then keep doing them. If not, then remember, it’s never too late to create a better habit. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Drop a comment or send me a message. https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Novelist and screenwriter John Irving said, “Good habits are worth being fanatical about.” As many of you know, recently I joined two different challenges. One fitness related and the other business related. I’ve been proactively creating the habits of daily exercise (either walking or running each day) and producing consistent video content. Every day I’m excited to get some exercise and I’ve been looking forward to publishing better content as I progress through this challenge and beyond. What about you? https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Motivational speaker and best-selling author Brian Tracy said, “Successful people are simply those with successful habits.” Think of a successful person that you know. Maybe you know them personally or follow them closely with the work they do. Have you ever wondered how that person got to where they are? Some folks might look at that individual and think they’re lucky or that it came out of nowhere because fate smiled at them. But chances are, if the person is truly successful, that it’s because they built successful habits. They didn’t get there by accident. They got there because they worked hard, developed the right habits, and made daily progress towards achieving their goals. The best part is this: if someone else did it then so can you. You just have to develop those successful habits that Brian Tracy was talking about. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Drop a comment or send me a message. https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Photojournalist Gordon Parks said, “Enthusiasm is the electricity of life. How do you get it? You act enthusiastic until you make it a habit. Enthusiasm is natural; it is being alive, taking initiative, seeing the importance of what you do, giving it dignity and making what you do important to yourself and to others.” What is something that you are enthusiastic about? https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Recently I joined two separate challenges. One was a 30-day step challenge with my colleagues. The other was a 21-day video challenge with a coaching group. While I consider myself both an avid runner and content creator, both have challenged me to be consistent every single day and pushed me to get out and make it happen, especially on those days when I felt like taking it easy or even being lazy. My question to you is, are you challenging yourself to grow? You don’t have to necessarily join a challenge, but I have found them to be great opportunities to learn, grow, and keep yourself accountable to getting things done. Plus, they can be tons of fun. Today I’m challenging you to push yourself just a bit harder. Find a buddy that will hold you accountable or join a group and start a fun challenge to push each other and achieve bigger victories together. I’d love to hear your thoughts. https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] This week I’ve been talking about the importance of self-improvement to become a better version of yourself. Aside from being able to advance further in life, did you know that daily learning can help you live longer? It’s true. Continued learning helps keep us healthy in mind and body. Studies have also shown a correlation between education level and life expectancy. That’s not to say that the letters on your college degree have anything to do with it. But rather, those people that become lifelong learners and continue to grow, tend to live longer because they are fueling their brains with a steady flow of nutrients. In other words, stimulating your mind and feeding it good and positive information will help you live a longer and healthier life. Pick up that book, attend that workshop or seminar, and keep giving your brain what it needs to stay healthy and strong. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Drop a comment or send me a message. https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] For the last two days, I’ve been talking about self-improvement and doing the things that make us better every single day. One of the ways we can foster self-improvement is by being curious. Having curiosity and desire, within ourselves, to seek out new ideas, opportunities for growth, and specialized learning for the purpose of personal development and life advancement. Albert Einstein said, “Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death.” We have an opportunity each day to learn, grow, and advance. This should be something we actively seek out, for our own betterment and enrichment of life. You don’t have to listen to me. Listen to Einstein. He’s pretty much an expert on the matter. Think about it. For your action step, think of one thing you can do today (in 5-10min) to foster self-improvement. Then go out and do it. Thanks and Be Excellent! I’d love to hear your thoughts. https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Yesterday I shared a message about keeping busy by improving yourself every single day. Today’s message follows that same line of thinking. If you want to succeed, then you must focus on changing (or improving) yourself, not others. You can’t change others and you can’t force them to act or behave in a certain way. However, you can focus your time, energy, and attention on improving yourself and making yourself better. This would be a wise investment of time and resources, especially if you aspire to advance in life. For today’s action step, spend a few minutes doing a self-inventory. Do you spend more time focusing on your own improvement or trying to change others? Be honest with yourself and make any necessary adjustments. I’d love to hear your thoughts. https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Happy motivation Monday. If you’ve been tuning in since I relaunched the Daily Minute with Rich podcast, then you heard me recently talk about my absence from social media for a self-imposed digital detox. I spent that time reconnecting with myself and working on areas that needed improvement. I distanced myself from things that no longer served me and welcomed things that brought me joy and peace. That’s how I kept myself busy. Along those lines, I found this message and I thought I’d share it here. “Be so busy improving yourself that you have no time to criticize others.” It’s a powerful reminder to focus on making yourself better each and every day. It also reminds us to avoid the negativity that comes from criticizing or throwing shade at others. For today’s action step, spend ten minutes today on an activity that is going to make you better in a preferred area. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Drop a comment or send me a message. Lead From Behind

Lead From Behind

2022-05-1302:09

https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Some people believe that being a leader means always being in front or in the spotlight. If you think that’s the only way to lead, then take a minute to consider this message from activist, politician, and former 1st President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela. He said, “It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.” In other words, when you’re celebrating the good times, that’s when you should put other people first and give them a chance to shine. But when times are hard, then you have an obligation to step up and lead your people around the obstacles and through the darkness. Think about it. Thanks and Be Excellent! https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] The ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu was born in 571 BC. He was the founder of Taoism, and his wise teachings would be compiled as the Tao Te Ching. Whether you’ve heard of the “Old Master” or not, you’ve probably heard one of his most famous pearls of wisdom. That being, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” This was certainly an important reminder for those walking a great physical distance, like back in his day. It’s just as meaningful today, for those who might want to travel a great distance in life. Perhaps that means starting a business, going back to school, or advancing in some other area of life. The journey ahead might be long, but you can’t finish unless you start. Begin with that first single step and then keep on going. I believe in you. Thanks and Be Excellent! https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Do you know the best way to catch flies? No, I haven’t lost my mind and no I’m not talking about literally catching those pesky insects. I am, however, talking about what we do to attract things to us. So why the fly reference? Because Abraham Lincoln said, “A drop of honey catches more flies than a gallon of gall.” Another version of that saying is, “You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.” In either case, the message is clear. If you want to attract someone or earn their favor, you’re better off using kindness and having a friendly demeanor than being harsh or off-putting.  If this is a topic that interests you, then I highly recommend reading Dale Carnegie’s classic book, How to Win Friends and Influence People. https://richperry.com/ [DAILY MINUTE with RICH] Yesterday I shared one of my favorite success quotes and today I have another message that has resonated with me over the years. This one comes from the founder of the Ford Motor company. That’s right, I’m talking about Henry Ford. If you’re a fan of Napoleon Hill’s books, then you know he often cites Ford in different quotes and stories in his works. The quote that has made a lasting impression on me is this one.
