Hustle culture is real.  I feel it!  There’s so much pressure on us to do all the things. Do it now. Have the big to-do list and CRUSH it, day in and day out. If you’re ambitious, you can probably relate to this. Not only does our culture teach us to work soo dang hard, but it also validates us for working hard. Today’s guest is someone who takes a lot of action - and helps others do the same.  Emily Williams is a success coach, author, podcast host and CEO who, at one point, couldn’t get a job at Starbucks. After experiencing a quarter-life crisis, she moved from Ohio to London (where she knew no one!) and in 2014 launched her company, I Heart My Life. She made $442 in her first month—and then went on to hit six figures in six months, before her 30th birthday. She grew her business into seven figures in under 18 months. Today, she works with ambitious, heart-centered women all over the world in helping them bust through the obstacles that hold their dreams and goals hostage so they can free themselves to create a life that's better than their dreams through the company's membership, courses and retreats. She also personally coaches entrepreneurs to help them scale their businesses (and their lives!) to new heights. While Emily’s accomplishments are impressive - she’s been featured in FORBES, INC. SUCCESS, Money, Entrepreneur, Business Insider and so much more — today’s episode is about the exact opposite:   Tune into this episode to hear about slowing down, listening to your intuition, social media addiction, getting comfortable with pausing, quitting the things you need to quit, and putting a STOP on doing just for the sake of doing. I've heard it countless times: "I really want to try a cold plunge, but where do I even begin?” I get you. The struggle is real.  “How long should I endure the icy water?” “Where is the best place to take the plunge?” “How often should I commit myself to this chilly adventure?”  It's a whirlwind of uncertainties, a maze of HOWs. One of my favourite tips for anyone interested in cold plunging, especially those people that don’t like to be cold is …. to start cold plunging in the summer time. So, here I am: creating a summer episode before I head on vacation – to help YOU start a cold plunge habit or routine, even if you hate the cold. My intention with this episode is to touch on the science bits, and the benefits… But also, to speak to you on a personal level, and give you a FEMININE perspective. And to tie it to something deeper than just the outer benefits… to tie it to your goals, to your dreams, and to who you ARE as a human being. All while keeping it simple and digestible enough so you can integrate it easily in your full, busy and amazing life.   Episode Shownotes: www.lisamichaud.com/podcast/88
Whether you’re a professional, parent, entrepreneur, or hey, even living that passive-income lifestyle, I’ll tell you the truth: Every woman - honestly, almost every human - I talk to is facing some common experiences. We’re working on prioritizing joy and self-care. We’re navigating success and cultivating resiliency in the face of adversity, challenges and failure. We’re balancing personal, family, and professional responsibilities. And we’re deeply yearning for community, connection, and collaboration and whether we all have the language or awareness yet or not, we’re working towards being grounded, present, and conscious. Today’s conversation touches on all of those topics and so much more. I’m honoured to be joined by Jenna Herbut an entrepreneur, visionary, author and creative powerhouse to talk all about this… and so much more. Episode Shownotes: www.lisamichaud.com/podcast/87
Last year, around this time, when things in Canada started to re-open, I found myself looking around at what other people were wearing, and felt like a FISH out of water. It turns out somewhere in the last few years, we’ve gone from bikini bottoms to thong bottoms. And no-one sent me the memo. Sometimes it feels like there’s a secret club that knows the trends, and I clearly am not on the email list. Staying up to date on fashion feels like a second job, and it’s hard to know how and where to stay up-to-date on trends and we wind up feeling lost.  Fashion and style also can be seen as superficial, as something that’s optional, or “froo-froo” and not taken seriously. That’s why I’m so excited to be joined today by Tamara Mainardi, a Style Curator, which if you’re out of the loop like me, means a Personal Stylist to talk about the DEEPER meaning of fashion, style and how we can feel confident in our clothes and take it to the rest of our lives including our goals. Why does this matter?  Because you’ve got ONE life my friend, and whether you decide to go full thong on the beach, or not, I want YOU to feel confident, have FUN, feel GREAT in your body, and be ready to play with how you present yourself with the world. Get ready to feel excited about dressing yourself, expressing yourself, and feel inspired and ready to have FUN with style. Episode Shownotes: www.lisamichaud.com/podcast/86
When it comes to business, and frankly, all types of success, our culture seems to be SO focused on doing it fast. Get rich quick. Get 10,000 followers fast, $10k months NOW. Build and scale QUICKLY!!Those are the messages we all get sent multiple times a day, and of course, because of that, it’s NO WONDER we often feel like things are happening slowly, or we feel like we should be doing more, or feel like we’re falling behind.I know a LOT of us feel this pressure to do more, be more, do it faster, in fact why not do it yesterday!I ALSO know that a lot of us feel lonely and isolated. And we look around wondering why we aren’t “more successful” - no matter what the definition of success is.  There’s a beautiful African proverb that I believe describes what need to shift:“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Today’s episode is about going far - together. In our hyper-individualized society, we’re doing it without villages, support networks, and close knit family and friends. This episode is about changing that: doing it differently… and going TOGETHER.Today’s guest is the incredible Danielle Wiebe.  Danielle is a community builder, collaboration expert, business strategist and the founder of Business Babes Collective, a global community for female entrepreneurs. This is all about showing you that there’s a different way to grow a business – and opening your mind to the idea that consistent collaborations and working collectively is a great way to grow your business (versus just trying to go viral and leaving it up to chance)   Episode Shownotes: www.lisamichaud.com/podcast/85
Have you ever had brain fog - a blend of confusion, forgetfulness and lack of focus and mental clarity? And now, let’s get personal: do you get up to pee in the night - every night?!If that’s you, you’re not alone. As women, entrepreneurs, professionals (and truthfully ANY human) living in our North American, silo-ed, hustle culture, we’re all wearing a LOT of hats. The reality is that so many of us have a lot on our plates, and are super busy, often putting other people’s needs in front of our own. It’s not a surprise that our health is suffering, as a collective. If you know me, I’m a big believer in Whole-Life Success, what I call “Multidimensional Success” which means you’re thriving in every area of your life. And that’s why I’m so excited to welcome Ollie Matthews onto Goalden Girls Podcast: to help simplify health and wellness, AND help us understand the signs of burnout BEFORE they hit with proactive tips to avoid and prevent burnout. Ollie is a healer working as a functional medicine doctor, nutritionist and health coach - and what he does is very unique. Ollie specializes in taking high achieving entrepreneurs from the brink of burnout to true peak performance using bespoke functional medicine, nutrition therapy, mindset and movement techniques without adding overwhelm to their lives. By the end of this episode, you'll realize that you can improve your health and wellness and know what the key signs are that your health needs more attention and support. You’ll also have some simple - and totally actionable ideas and steps that you can take TODAY and THIS week to improve your health, vitality and ability to LIVE LIFE and create magic in this world, like you know you’re destined to. Look, I don’t know about you, but I know YOU and I have been put on this planet to do a lot more than just eat, sleep, work, pay bills, do some laundry, and then die.And yet - when you look around, it seems like most people are doing just that:  going through the motions, doing all the to-do’s without truly living with deep satisfaction, reverence or joy.  On some level, I believe most of us can feel it: we can FEEL the fact that most people on this planet are disconnected from their true selves, their purpose, and in many ways, just walking the prescribed path that our society has set out for them.   Chances are, you’re here, you’ve been guided in some way here because you sense that there’s a disconnection. You sense that you’re missing a piece of fulfillment in your life and that there has to be more to your existence, more to what you’re doing here than just doing for the sake of doing, and endless productivity without the inspiration and motivation that comes from alignment. It’s no secret that we’re not given the tools on how to process energy and the emotions of life and so we carry it with us or express it in ways that aren’t healthy or supportive of the life we want or the people we want to be. In today’s episode, I’m honoured to be joined by Robert Grover and Gary Logan, two MASTER Spiritual Advisors and Human Potential Experts. Together, they are The Journeymen Collective. Friend, I can’t promise exactly what you will take from this episode but I can promise you this:  there will be medicine in here that meets you with exactly what you need.  There are beautiful, gorgeous nuggets in here and a connection to something deeper, more powerful, more enlightening and grounding than a “map with 5-steps to success” can offer.  Episode Shownotes: www.lisamichaud.com/podcast/83
If you haven’t yet heard about ChatGPT, you might be living under a rock. I say that with no judgement - because usually that’s me. I mean, to this day, I’ve never watched an episode of Keeping up with the Kardashian's and I legit could not pick out any of them out of a crowd except for Kim. But something about this tool, ChatGPT, caught my attention, and it’s blown my mind and I have a feeling it’s about to blow yours too :)  In this episode, I really want to focus on how it can help YOU to save time, and save your mental energy, help you with decision fatigue. Not so you can add  more to your overfull plate – and keep people pleasing and over perfecting sh*t.  NO.  I want you to save your brain power, and your energy so you can spend more time LIVING, enjoying, and being in YOUR zone of genius. Live your BEST LIFE my friend! Sleep more, yoga more, dance more, whatever you desire!! Episode Shownotes: www.lisamichaud.com/podcast/82
If you are reading this, chances are you grew up hearing the same recipe for success that I did. The recipe went something like this: Go to school. Get a degree. Maybe a second degree, or masters or Ph.D. Get a stable job with benefits, and a retirement plan. Stay there until age 65, then retire.  BAM! Success would be inevitable. It was great advice a few decades ago. The reality of today is that so many people are stuck in jobs that aren’t supportive of the life they want to be living. Maybe that’s you: you’re doing work you don’t enjoy. Maybe you have a creative pursuit or passion and don’t know how to go for it. Maybe you know there’s untapped potential within you and you know your job isn’t the way it’s going to come out. You know that freelancing can serve as a way out but you don’t know how to actually make the transition. Maybe you’re afraid. Afraid of not knowing how and afraid of failure You might be worried that your career growth may be stunted. And of course, you’re driven - ambitious - passionate about doing cool work in this world. I know taking the leap into freelancing can be scary and overwhelming, That’s why I’m honoured to be joined by Joy Batra, author of the brand-new book “The Freelance Mindset: Unleashing Your Side Hustles for Better Work, Play, and Life”.  Episode show notes: www.lisamichaud.com/podcast/81
Both new and seasoned investors are hitting “Pause” on real estate right now. The reason? Rising interest rates. In 2022, the Bank of Canada did 7 increases on the interest rate, and on January 25th from the Bank of Canada, the rates were raised yet again, kicking 2023 off with even higher interest rates. As real estate investors, we’ve noticed it.  If you have a variable rate mortgage, no doubt you’ve noticed it. So, what’s a real estate investor to do? What does the future hold? The truth is, none of us have a crystal ball, but for this episode, I asked some of my favourite real estate experts: fellow investors, mortgage brokers, realtors, and people who do many of those things for their words of wisdom.  Whether you’re a seasoned investor, or just getting started, this episode will give you valuable insider insights, and tips for navigating this ever-evolving interest rate environment. So sit back, relax (I know, easier said than done with these rates), take a few deep breaths, and listen in:  Episode Shownotes: www.lisamichaud.com/podcast/77
Traditional thinking and traditional real estate investing strategies go something like this: Save up for a down payment. Choose a property. Go get a mortgage for 60-80% of the value of the property. Spend your savings on the down payment. Acquire property.  Then repeat, if you want to grow. That is what you’ve been taught, right?  Well, here’s the problem: saving up money for a down payment plus closing costs can take a while. Here’s the other problem with scaling in real estate: when it comes to residential financing - aka - the mortgage - , the bank decides how much they’re going to lend you based on your personal income.  Eventually, you’ll hit an income ceiling. Then you can no longer buy rental properties in this “traditional way”.  That is until we heard about creative financing, OPM - AKA Other People’s Money. I was recently asked by one of my good friends to contribute to a video about being a self-made millionaire and share advice for those on their journey to their first one million dollars and beyond And in this episode, I’m sharing with you the advice that I was asked to give: How did you make your first million dollars? What do you think has been the secret to your success? What advice would you give to someone else who wants to make a million dollars? What’s the most important money lesson you’ve learned so far? These are FANTASTIC questions - and in the process of answering them, I realized there was a lot of really great content, that might be helpful for you.I know a lot of YOU also want to gain a solid financial foundation for yourself: and it’s VERY helpful to learn from those who have gone before us.Plus we’ve done something that went well that I want to share, and some things that didn’t so you might as well SAVE time and frustration and maybe money and do it quicker and easier : Episode Shownotes: www.lismaichaud.com/podcast/78
Sometimes at the end of the year, it isn’t all champagne, sparklers and celebrations. It can - and I say this from experience - instead, feel like it’s all unfinished tasks, never-ending to-do lists, and goals and progress that seems STUCK. You may feel deflated, discouraged and overwhelmed with your goals and progress so far. Or maybe lack thereof. Or perhaps the year just FLEW by – and you’re left a little stunned - feeling happy, busy and not grounded or fully rooted in the experience.  So that begs the question – how DO you reflect on the year? What questions do you ask and answers?  How do you take the lessons?  How do you do this effectively - and efficiently? Drumroll please – I introduce to you, Your Year In Review!!! This is my signature process for doing your own, personal annual review - and get you ready to plan for the next year. To go along with this episode, you can grab a free playbook at lisamichaud.com/yearinreview — go ahead and grab that. The promise of real estate investing? You’ve probably seen the ads and can imagine it now: Long, lazy days on a beach in the Caribbean. Snorkeling today, reading your favourite book again tomorrow. All this possible with real estate properties that pay you tens, hundreds of thousands of dollars… for doing nothing! The reality of real estate ownership? Phone calls with property managers. Printing, filling out, scanning and mailing documents back to the bank and your legal team. Entering expenses into spreadsheets and accounting software, overseeing (or potentially doing) renovations, negotiating insurance and managing a team. And the truth? Not all real estate investing is passive - in fact, a lot of ISN’T! Today, I’m joined by my husband and business partner, Troy Michaud, to talk about the realities of real estate investing and BUST the myth of “passive” real estate and tell you the good, the bad, and mostly just the truth.  Show Notes: http://www.lisamichaud.com/podcast/72
From the grocery store, to the supplements we take, the clothes we wear, gas we put in our car, and beyond, inflation is at record highs in many places around the world. The reasons for this are certainly a whole other topic - and a whole other kind of show - so while we can’t reverse inflation in this episode (sadly), we CAN do what we do best: empower you with information, inspiration, stories, tools, and resources to get you back in the driver’s seat of your life by focusing on the income you bring in. Today, we’re talking about Private Lending as it relates to real estate investing. I always get feedback that you love to listen to and talk more about money and real estate, so that’s what this episode is about. If you’re looking to create an additional income stream, are interested in real estate and want to find the right strategy to help you get started and scale up, this episode is for you. By the end of this episode, you’ll feel hopeful and inspired, hearing stories from those who never gave up - and know that if you’re also open to learn, stay focused on your goals and connect with like-minded people you WILL be successful.  Show Notes: http://www.lisamichaud.com/podcast/71
