Untangling Stress

Here on The Stress Nanny, the #8 Stress Podcast we talk through common stressors and how to minimize stress and build resilience. In this week's solo episode, I share an analogy for understanding how to tease apart stress. Comparing stress to a skein of yarn with a bunch of knots and tangles, I'll walk you through identifying what strands might be part of your stress knot. Once we get some clarity on which stressors we're dealing with, we can start to get clarity on how to work through them, slowing untangling the stress and allowing for greater functionality (in both yarn and people). During this episode, I refer to a free questionnaire on my website to help you get started in untangling your own stress! You can access that free questionnaire here. In this episode I share another of my favorite mindfulness tools to help kids widen their green zones and try new things. The green zone is the space where kids are flexible, open and able to adapt. When kids are in their green zone they are willing to try new things. When kids are stressed or in new situations their green zones can shrink. As parents and caregivers, we can help kids develop awareness and tools to navigate moments that are beyond their green zones and feel chaotic or rigid. With simple examples and a clear explanation of what a green zone is, this episode invites you to read your child's stress signals and respond in a supportive way.Lindsay Miller is known for her talent show suitcase tricks and infectious laugh.
