We believe that God has designed us for fellowship. We need other people in our lives, however, in a season where we have been called to not gather in large groups, to not be around people, what does that do to us? What impact does it have on our well-being? In this podcast, One Mokgatle talks to Dr Wendy-Leigh Greyvensteyn, a clinical psychologist, on the challenges of self-isolation in a season where we have been called to stay home and not be in community. *If you would like the informational material mentioned by Dr Wendy in the podcast please contact community@rootedfellowship.com. If you would like to speak to one of our Pastors please contact us on the same email address. Remember, you are not alone.
COVID-19: In this podcast, Jono Tudhope talks to Dr Khuliso Ramashia about the pandemic we are all experiencing called the coronavirus. They unpack what it is and chat about what we, as a community, can do in this strange and unusual time. *This podcast was recorded on Tuesday the 17th of March and so please be advised that stats have changed since then.

Connect Path

Connect Path

2020-01-2913:46

God has been faithful to us at Rooted Fellowship and we have consistently seen how He has added to our numbers over the past 5 years. This year, in order to be responsible stewards of the folks that come our way, we have created a connect path made up of 2 events. In this episode, One and Jono discuss how new folks can plug in at Rooted in 2020 by attending these events.
There are so many great quotes that advocate for community, so many wise words that warn us not to isolate ourselves and believe the lie that we don't need anyone, or that we are too busy to find time to get around a table with others and enjoy fellowship. The Gospel compels us to enter into relationships, meaningful ones. These relationships help us grow in our faith, they provide for us better accountability and they ensure that we keep our eyes on Jesus. Put plainly, fellowship is vital for our soul. In this episode, we talk to Confidence and Jono about two places that you can find great community at Rooted Fellowship; in City Groups and in Discipleship Groups. So listen and get plugged in.
As a New Year dawns on us, many begin to think about New Year Resolutions; what to begin doing, what new goals to achieve or what bad thing to stop. In this episode we chat to Jono about what our lives might look like in 2020 if we change our perspective and instead of thinking resolutions, we think habits. If we can create better habits, with better rhythms, we will have a year of not just surviving but truly thriving in Christ and in our community.
Why are we so passionate about planting churches? Well, because Gods plan to reach the world is through His redeemed children saved by grace, we are His plan, by grace called into a mission, He was already on, through Jesus, church after church, generation after generation until He returns or calls us home. In this episode, we chat to Sihle Xulu and his experience at Rooted Fellowship as a church planting resident. We also talk about the plan to plant a church in the east of Johannesburg and what he is looking forward to in 2020.
Have you ever felt that you understand and know someone even better after meeting their family? Meeting someone’s family and knowing where they come from and why they do what they do and say what they say is a very powerful experience. Do you know that Jesus also had a family, a community of faith, a tribe and a very long family story? Do you know Jesus’s origin story, and why He came to earth and did what He did? Whether you are familiar with the story or not, make yourself comfortable and dive into His origin story before we celebrate His birth together this Christmas. You know how you understand a Marvel movie better when you know the characters' origin stories? Exactly...
Tim Cox serves as Director of Marketing & Communications for Redeemer City to City, which is a non-profit organization that prayerfully recruits, trains, coaches and resources leaders who cultivate gospel movements in global cities primarily through church planting. City to City is based in New York City and works in over 140 global cities throughout the world. In this episode, One Mokgatle chats with Tim on his first-time experience at Rooted Fellowship. They also talk about training leaders, equipping ambassadors, sailing boats and eating quality ribs.
