HOT TAKE: Hard work is not required for you to have a massively successful business. The corporate world has trained us to romanticize the idea of working 80-90 hour weeks, maybe making six figures, but being stressed out and not having time for our family, friends, or the things that we love.We call it hard work, but there is a big difference between working hard and working efficiently. When I first started my business, one of my ultimate goals was to have more time freedom. I didn’t want to be trapped behind a desk or sitting at a computer for 50+ hours a week just to feel exhausted at the end of the day and like I didn’t have enough time to spend with my family or to do the things I wanted to do.Recently, I read the book The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris. In it, he talks about the 80/20 rule, which is the concept that 20% of the work we do achieves 80% of our results.Imagine working an 80-hour week, and only 20% of the work that you do actually moves the needle for your career. What if there was a way to create incredible results by working smarter? If you’re ready to learn why I no longer place value on hard work but on results, growth, and efficiency in a business and why the real flex is working LESS and making MORE, then this episode is for you. Support the showFor more biz tips, BTS moments, and pissing off corporate bros, follow me on social media @lindsaymhanson! Welcome to Quit Your Job, Sis: Unhinged, where I step away from my usual business and freelancing content to share unfiltered thoughts and opinions about things in my day-to-day life. In this episode, I dive into relationships, why being desperate to be in one can be problematic, and the importance of being content on your own before pursuing a partnership. I share why I initially resisted dating my now-fiance despite wanting to, and valuable insight on self-worth, happiness, and finding the right person. I talk about:Societal pressures on being in a relationship and the negative impact it can have on our valuesThe dangers of desperation: how the mindset of needing to be with a person can lead to settling for the wrong person and missing red flagsCodependency vs. healthy relationships: the importance of not relying on someone else for happiness or validationReleasing desperation and learning how to thrive in the single lifeIf you’re someone who feels like they can never be happy single, I urge you to take a step back and examine why you feel that way. You are already so valued, loved, and important on your own. Your right person will find you when the time is right; it sounds cliche, but it’s true. Don’t settle for a relationship that doesn’t make your life better. Tune in to this episode of Quit Your Job, Sis: Unhinged to hear how I challenge societal norms and inspire you to live a life filled with happiness!Support the showFor more biz tips, BTS moments, and pissing off corporate bros, follow me on social media @lindsaymhanson! From there, my entire life changed in ways I could never have imagined. Are you ready to stop making excuses for why you shouldn’t follow your dreams? Are you ready to take the leap and do the thing you want, even though you’re scared?Tune into this week’s episode for a little encouragement to take that leap and for a reminder that it's okay to do life a little backwards. We waste so much time and energy worrying about making the ‘wrong decision.’This episode is meant to remind you that what’s for you will not pass you. You can’t fuck up, pass up, or ruin your chances with the things meant for you. As a firm believer that the Universe always has our backs, allow me to be a shining example of how this is true:Though we met in high school, there was a time when my now-fiance and I did not speak. We dated in college, broke up, and went our separate ways, but I always knew he was ‘the one.’After briefly reconnecting years later (when I was living with a different then-boyfriend), we went our separate ways again due to the circumstances, and I didn’t think much of it.It was when we reconnected for a third time (I was single by this time) we began dating again and are now engaged and planning our wedding next year. The point of all of this? The Universe tried multiple times to get us to reconnect, leading me straight to the man I am now going to marry SEVERAL times before we finally decided to rekindle things.Another example: when it was time for my business to start growing, my workload with social media management became overwhelming. The first time this happened, I felt I wasn’t ready and let all my clients slowly slip away. But the Universe has my back and knows what’s right for me: a year or so later, I was presented with the same challenge again, only this time, instead of repeating the cycle, I leveled up and proceeded to hire additional help, increasing my capacity to take on more work, and therefore growing my business. The Universe will keep bringing you the same lesson and course-correct until you’ve learned and found the things that are for you. Why? Because you can’t fuck up, pass up, or ruin your chances with the things meant for you. Support the showFor more biz tips, BTS moments, and pissing off corporate bros, follow me on social media @lindsaymhanson! Do you want to be a normal person, living a normal, average life? Or do you want to live a big, unrealistic, better-than-you-could-have-imaged life??It’s time to start being delusional. How did the most successful people get to where they are today? Do you think it was by taking the safe, expected route - or by taking risks and making decisions that went against what’s “normal” and “safe”?They likely had a lot of people who doubted them along the way, and were waiting for them to give up on their “unrealistic” dreams. But they didn’t. Because they chose to be delusional and believe in the vision anyway. If you want to create a successful business, buy a home that feels out of your price range, and elevate and expand your life in ways you never thought possible, it’s time to be a little delusional. It’s time to believe in possibilities beyond what we as a society have collectively decided is ‘normal’ – beyond what other people are going to tell you is possible or is realistic for you.Whatever you want in this life is possible for you. Now it's time to go out and chase it.Support the showFor more biz tips, BTS moments, and pissing off corporate bros, follow me on social media @lindsaymhanson! Don’t you wish there was a way to know you’re in the good old days before you’ve left them?Hint: You’re always in the good old days.We get so caught up in wanting to reach the next phase of our lives that we let the current phase pass us by. It's so easy to get wrapped up in the next thing, racing to the next goal or milestone, and then we look back and wish we had appreciated that time more. This episode is meant to remind you to appreciate the phase of life you’re currently in, even if it's not your end goal.Maybe there is so much more that you want to do and accomplish. Maybe there are so many more milestones to achieve. But don’t waste a second wishing you were in the next phase. Gratitude can change your entire perspective about moving to a new phase of your life or being ‘stuck’ in the one you’re currently in.Take some time to appreciate the phase you’re in now because it has so much beauty in your life right now. Support the showFor more biz tips, BTS moments, and pissing off corporate bros, follow me on social media @lindsaymhanson! Do you feel stuck in a job that you hate? Maybe you feel like, “If I just get the new job, then I’ll be happy,” or “When I get this next raise, I’ll feel more accomplished.”Or, you have a great job, a nice salary, or excellent benefits but feel guilty for wanting to leave all that behind.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: your circumstances don’t determine how you feel; your thoughts do. So, how can you find happiness exactly where you’re at right now?In this episode, I give you permission to release the belief that something has to make you unhappy for you to want to change. And if something makes you unhappy, it's time to look at what thoughts create that unhappiness and how to change them. But first, say it with me: WANTING A CHANGE DOES NOT MAKE ME UNGRATEFUL. It's okay to want to change your situation, but it's important to acknowledge and discover what you truly want. Happiness is not going to come from outside of you, from changing your situation to obtain the next best thing. Don’t run from a job you hate into another one you’ll be miserable in just because the grass looked greener from your old office window.Tune into this week’s episode to learn how to find more happiness with where you’re currently at… even if you still want something different for your future. It’s time to take responsibility for your emotions and ask yourself, “How can I see this differently?” Resources:UPDATE: Lindsay no longer offers free coaching calls, but you can apply for private coaching here: http://lindsayhanson.com/applySupport the showFor more biz tips, BTS moments, and pissing off corporate bros, follow me on social media @lindsaymhanson! Do you always feel stressed out after work, or do you feel like bad things are always happening to you? Maybe you’re just looking for a better way to deal with stress. I’ve got news for you: it's all about your mindset. You can control whether you have a good day or a bad day. How? Your thoughts determine your reality. Read that again. Your thoughts determine your reality. It sounds scary, but it doesn’t have to be. Our thoughts are what cause us to have certain feelings about an experience. When we can control our thoughts, we can control our emotions and choose to feel different things. When you can control your feelings, you can control your experience. Flying in an airplane doesn’t have to be stressful. Sitting in traffic doesn’t have to be an inconvenience. Having a bad day at work? You can turn it around with the simple power of thought. It takes practice. In this episode, I dive into the thought work model and discuss how every situation we’re in is inherently neutral; it's our thoughts that make the experience good or bad.First, you must recognize the thoughts causing the negative feelings. Then, you can learn to change those thoughts. REMINDER: Just because a thought is in your head doesn’t mean it's the truth. It’s time to experience less stress and live life with more joy and intention. If you’re ready to learn how to control your thoughts and have less stress in your life, then you won’t want to miss this week’s ‘Best Of’ episode!UPDATE: Lindsay no longer offers free coaching calls, but you can apply for private coaching here: http://lindsayhanson.com/applySupport the showFor more biz tips, BTS moments, and pissing off corporate bros, follow me on social media @lindsaymhanson!
