Self-care for women shouldn't be optional! As women, we care for our children, our partners, our homes; we tend to our jobs, our business, our pets, and the list goes on. We are constantly pouring into other people and other things. If you're not practicing self-care, that cup is going to run out before you know it.  We've all taken a nap or just taken a step back and felt completely guilty. But why? We need to rest and recharge. And more importantly, we DESERVE it.  You've heard this before...Self-care is NOT Selfish! This week we're talking about making self-care a priority. Take care of yourself the way you take care of your kids or clients. Do something that makes you happy. Something that makes you feel good. The more you take care of yourself, the more you will be able to show up for the people that you love and care about. _________________________________Like what you heard? Whether we want to admit it or not, kids are dating a lot earlier now than when we were kids. We're discussing a pretty heavy topic that honestly, should be talked about more...Teen Dating Violence.  Even if your children are still young, and nowhere near dating age, it's important to know how to talk to your kids about teen domestic violence and for you to know how to recognize the signs. According to the Teen Dating Violence website, "Healthy relationships require hard work, communication, and a level of maturity that may not be present in teens. As a result, many teen relationships – nearly one-third – are characterized as either unhealthy or violent." www.teendvmonth.org Teen dating violence is not just physical, but can also include emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and stalking. It can take place in person, or more commonly on social media. Nearly 1.5 million girls and boys have admitted to being in an unhealthy relationship. Unfortunately, teenagers are not the most forthcoming so we need to make them feel safe and comfortable with communications with us. We are honored to be joined by Yolanda Oliver of @live_fearless_inc. Live Fearless, Inc. is not a passion project for Yolanda, it is her life journey. She is 1 in 4 women who've experienced violence in a relationship. She is the 68% of children exposed to violence in her home, not only did she survive she now thrives. Thriving did not come without struggles as Yolanda openly shares. A seed of purpose was planted in Yolanda, to serve women and children who are in crisis, fighting their way out of domestic violence situations with assistance to help them navigate through the struggles with support and resources as they journey to living withOUT fear! _________________________________Like what you heard? Letting Our Kids Shine

Letting Our Kids Shine

2021-08-2554:02

It's that time of year again, Back-to-School! Many of our kids are either back in school or headed to school very soon, some of them for the first time. With COVID on the rise again, a lot of parents are also considering homeschooling their children this school year. Though we have tried our hand at teaching our babies and toddlers, how do we nurture them to be diligent students and love learning for many years to come? How can we turn everyday activities into opportunities for learning and growth? We are joined by a very special guest, Da’Quisha Whitaker (@dmwhitaker_writes). Quisha is an Author, Educator, Blogger, Podcaster, and lover of all things books! And she has some answers to those questions. D.M. Whitaker has spent ten years educating children and youth inside and outside the classroom as a former social service worker and teacher. Teaching children to be their best selves through social and functional skill enrichment, affirmations and genuine love, has always been her passion. It wasn't until she became a stay-at-home mother, that she embraced her longtime love of storytelling, and began writing stories that would help parents, teachers and caregivers teach their children in fun, educational and creative ways. She has been married to her husband, Brandon, and they have two boys, Duce, 4 and Elisha, 1. They currently reside in Nebraska. She joined us to drop some gems and discussed how to find out your child's learning style and incorporate that in their learning inside and outside of the classroom. Do you know your child's learning style? Have you found that they retain information better from audio, video, read/write or kinesthetic education? _________________________________Like what you heard? For Better or Worse

For Better or Worse

2021-08-1843:28

We are all familiar with the traditional marriage vows: "I, Sasha take thee, Richard, to be my wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part." But have you really thought about the "in sickness and in health" part? Like REALLY thought about it. What if your spouse had a stroke and required 'round the clock care? What if they suffered from mental health issues and needed you to be their caregiver? Do you think you would be able to cope with that? Today, we are joined by Jennifer, from Mom to Wife Plus Life who shares her journey of motherhood, and wifehood. Jennifer is the mother of a little girl, a wife for the second time, and a caregiver to her Navy veteran husband. Listed as top 50 mom podcasters in Podcast Magazine in May 2020, a current 2020 Elizabeth Dole Fellow for the state of Arkansas, and now a Mom Empowerment Coach. "I want to be a woman who sheds the light on women and moms going through different seasons of life and making the normal struggles we all go through normal and not something to be ashamed or embarrassed about. AKA hot mess momma life. I'm also a big supporter of childhood ADHD, domestic violence survivors, and caregivers for veterans."_________________________________Like what you heard? Don't Do Bad Shit

Don't Do Bad Shit

A lot of us were brought up totally different than we are bringing up our own kids. Some of us were in church faithfully, every week while others...not so much. How are you approaching religion with your family? Did you have this conversation with your partner before you had children of your own? How they would be brought up. If they would attend church. Which religion they would practice. We can't speak for everyone but studies have shown that millennials are less attached to organized religion than their parents and grandparents were. Do you agree? It's also more common to hear that millennials are "spiritual" vs, "religious".  Today we're talking about our experiences of conversion, spirituality, and the decisions we've made for our families.  _________________________________Like what you heard? Finding Your Circle

Finding Your Circle

2021-08-0452:21

Have you ever wondered why friendships as women are so hard to establish and maintain? Think about this, research shows that in our mid-twenties, friendship circles shrink significantly because our priorities shift. Some women are getting married and starting their family, while others are enjoying the single life or focused on their career. Additionally, women put a lot of weight on their friendships with other women. A friends circle is supposed to be a safe and sacred space for women to come together, use their voices, be heard, and be seen. To share experiences with others who have gone through them. For many decades, women have gathered in circles to empower each other and share wisdom. So why is that so hard to do now? Why does it seem so difficult for women to support other women? Today, we are discussing all of this with Kiamiccia Boone-Neal of Mommy Chronicles LLC and chatting about how we as women can better support one another. Kiamiccia (Mece) is a 28-year-old wife, mother of two, and entrepreneur. She lives in California and loves it! In 2020 she started a mom blog which turned into creating and selling mom apparel from her business, Mommy Chronicles LLC, interviewing other moms on IGTV live about important mom-related topics, to now having a podcast called "The Mom Circle." Her overall goal is to connect, support, and uplift other moms, moms-to-be, and future moms. _________________________________Like what you heard? Follow to get notified of the newest episodes!
