Never a Wasted Prayer

Never a Wasted Prayer

2020-03-0208:04

It was January 2005. I was 19 years old and had just arrived in Charlotte, North Carolina for a worship conference. At that conference, I met a woman named Susan and had a five-minute conversation with her that would end up changing my life.•••He delivered me because He delighted in me. (Psalm 18:19) Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions. (Hebrews 1:9) Your love is better than wine (Song of Solomon 1:2) I am dark, but lovely (Song of Solomon 1:5)You will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13) Support the showSupport the show: http://www.patreon.com/justinrizzoFollow on socials:http://www.youtube.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.instagram.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.twitter.com/justinrizzoihop
Leading worship during COVID-19.When the people, the lights, and everything that could distract you or give you a false sense of being filled is stripped away and it’s just you and your guitar, are you still filled with wonder when you sing? There is nothing more holy or spiritual about worshipping in an empty room versus a room full of people. But when the room is empty, and it’s just you and God, it’s a lot easier to get in touch with the true state of your heart. Support the showSupport the show: http://www.patreon.com/justinrizzoFollow on socials:http://www.youtube.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.instagram.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.twitter.com/justinrizzoihop

The fact that you are given the ability to affect and influence entire rooms full of people on a weekly basis is both an honor but should also be a sobering reality. You are more than a song leader. You are a teacher. Support the showSupport the show: http://www.patreon.com/justinrizzoFollow on socials:http://www.youtube.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.instagram.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.twitter.com/justinrizzoihop
Nothing can destroy team dynamics like ungodly speech. Sarcasm and coarse joking disrupt the authentic community by hindering honest, clear communication and discouraging true relationship and vulnerability. The closer we grow as a team, the freer we feel. This is a good thing, honestly. There’s something special about being able to let your guard down with people. It is freeing to be able to share openly without worrying about being judged. But sometimes with this freedom, come some challenges. The main one is becoming too casual and indiscrete with our speech.Support the showSupport the show: http://www.patreon.com/justinrizzoFollow on socials:http://www.youtube.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.instagram.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.twitter.com/justinrizzoihop

God famously called David “a man after His own heart” knowing full well every failure and mistake he would commit over the next sixty years, and in that moment, God set a precedent: He wasn’t seeking perfect men or women to follow Him. His primary goal was simply that they would be “after His own heart,” or in other words, that they would abide in His love and love Him in return.Support the showSupport the show: http://www.patreon.com/justinrizzoFollow on socials:http://www.youtube.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.instagram.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.twitter.com/justinrizzoihop

In this episode, Justin discusses the From Patmos musical that he wrote the songs for and how the creative process went.  Tickets for the worldwide premiere are on sale now: www.frompatmosfilm.com The original musical becomes a stage film featuring Michael Maher as the Apostle John — the man who knew Jesus best during His life on earth. The show features a series of flashbacks from the Island of Patmos detailing John’s transformation from a young man with a thunderous but unfocused passion to an unmovable, unshakable Apostle of single-minded devotion. It is through the memories of this one man that the future of all mankind is revealed. Justin Rizzo’s musical storytelling debut includes a moving score of 19 original songs and a script co-written by the powerhouse tandem of Alice Larson Scott and Kelsey White. Step into the tragedy, adventure, and passion of John's story and find your own story of the taming and refining of the human heart that happens only through relationship with the God who walked among us.Support the showSupport the show: http://www.patreon.com/justinrizzoFollow on socials:http://www.youtube.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.instagram.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.twitter.com/justinrizzoihop

"Justin, your idea is foolish and you are in way over your head."I had barely begun sharing my vision when this man began to mockingly laugh at how my creative idea was foolish. How do you handle your heart when you are mocked for dreaming big?Where is the line of faith without works is dead vs living a life of wisdom?I am currently in production for my next film, Between Two Worlds. When historians write about the early 2000s, there are going to be entire books devoted to musicians and artists. More than ever before, we're seeing young people, both inside and outside the Church, passionately throwing themselves into creative pursuits, specifically into music.  This generation is acutely aware of the power of music, and they’re not just listening to it. They’re making it. I sat down with my good friend Brianna Collins to discuss her creative process as a dancer, actress, and choreographer. Connect with her on Instagram and at  www.greenleafstudio.org Brianna Collins began her dance career at the age of 7 at Greenleaf Performing Arts Academy, where she instantly fell in love with movement and made the decision to never stop dancing. She graduated from Störling’s Artist Development Program, where she trained for two years under Mona Storling-Enna, Hannah Anderson, Courtney Bourman, Marc Wayne, Suzanne Ryan-Strati, and others. She has worked with choreographers Rosie Herrera, Catherine Meredith, and Victoria Marks through New Dance Partners at the Midwest Trust Center. She has enjoyed choreographed many musical theatre productions and her choreography has been performed throughout the Kansas City Area and in Germany. Brianna has been teaching ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, pointe, and modern techniques for the past 10 years, and loves every second of it. She is currently in her fourth season of dancing professionally with Störling Dance Theater in Olathe, KS and is the Artistic Director of Greenleaf Performing Arts Academy. Brianna believes that dance is one of the most full expressions of humanity and worship when pursued with a holistic mindset. She is passionate about impacting culture and creating community through the arts, and is anticipating a lifetime of exploring that mission.Support the showSupport the show: http://www.patreon.com/justinrizzoFollow on socials:http://www.youtube.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.instagram.com/justinrizzomusichttp://www.twitter.com/justinrizzoihop
