From July 2019 to January 2021 I hosted The Business Show on Lake District Radio, bringing guests onto the show to talk about their businesses. I have now moved to the Monday evening slot of 5-7pm but will still have opportunities to talk to business people from the area. Today it's all about the future as we speak St Martin & St Mary's School in Windermere about their Bright Stars project. There's also a chart from 1989.
It's Bank Holiday Monday and also my birthday so this evening we are playing songs that were number 1 on this day over the last 51 years!!!!!! Some crackers in there
Today's show has letter U and V in the A to Z of pop and a chart from this week in 1983
It's all about recycling......this evening I speak with Scott Keenan from Keenan Able Construction about a project to re-use, re-cycle and re-purpose a 45 year old conservatory that they are currently removing from a guesthouse in Windermere.
Today it's A to Z from Killing Joke and KWS, followed by Lionel Richie and Lady Antebellum. The chart rundown is from 1981 which highlights the biggest travesty in UK chart history, what song did keep Ultravox's Vienna from the number 1 spot?? We also talk to chef Mark Satterthwaite from Base Restaurant in Ulverston as he gives us a recipe for home made Chicken Kievs.
With a quick look at the Government's announcement about lockdown easing, and launching next week's Meal of the Month with Mark Satterthwaite (home made Chicken Kievs) we also carry on the A to Z of pop with tunes from Iggy Pop and INXS, and Jocelyn Brown and Jess Glynn. This week's chart lookback was from 1997 with a number 1 from No Doubt.
It's music and chat tonight. I speak with Phil Newton from www.skillsshop.co.uk about his offer of free Mental Health First Aid courses for NHS staff and look back at the chart from 1999.

The Drivetime Hometime Show continues our A-z of pop with opening songs from Culture Club and The Cult, and closes with Del Amitri and Deacon Blue. The chart rundown is from 1986 with a great top 3 from Madonna, A-Ha and Billy Ocean. It's the first Monday of the month so it's food time and we talk to chef Cameron Castle and talk through his recipe for a Chicken Tikka. There's also a quick chat with Anthony Smith from Progression Solicitors who are currently offering 3 hours of free legal advice to Cumbrian businesses.
This evening saw us launch a new show. From now on we will be on air on Lake District Radio every Monday from 5-7pm. A-Z of music, looking back at the charts from this week, and tonight we introduced our first Meal of the Month, chef Cameron Castle gave us a recipe for a starting from scratch Chicken Tikka Curry (with a vegan option) for people to cook at home either this week, or live with us on next weeks show. The recipe can be found at https://www.facebook.com/nickhoodsradioshow. As it was Burns Night, we also had an Address to the Haggis and a few Scottish tunes.
In this episode we look back on the timeline of 2020, the progression of Covid-19 throughout the year as well as playing some of the year's best tunes.
