Episode 108: Jet Worsteling, IFISHThis week we are joined by another big name in the Australian fishing scene, Jet Worsteling, the heir to the IFISH throne and gun young fisho! Having previously had his dad Paul on the show we were keen to get Jet’s perspective on fishing, filming the TV show and his experience in fishing in South Australia. Tom works at Sportfishing Scene, where he is super knowledgeable across a range of species, particularly Mulloway which is his favorite fish to target. Tom has recently joined the board of RecFish SA and is keen to contribute to the great work they have been doing over recent years. He is also studying Marine Biology and is looking to work full time in the sector in the years to come! Episode 105: DC, Calcutta Winner - Port Lincoln Tuna ClassicWe come to you fresh off an epic weekend at the Port Lincoln Tuna Classic. We have a comprehensive wrap up of the event with all the winners and a recap of everything that went on. A huge congratulations and thankyou to Steve Toome, Ash White and everyone else who helped put on an amazing weekend and competition. This week we are joined by DC (Dan Coleman), Skipper of Risky Business and winner of the Calcutta competition for biggest fish caught in the 2024 Port Lincoln Tuna Classic. DC who runs Southern Ocean Diving and Marine, a sponsor of the event, runs us through his weekend which included a broken boat which needed fixing on the first morning of the comp. Her fished with his 2 kids and brother in law and was a worthy winner of the big prize! We pick his brain and find out where they caught the fish and what was the lure that did the damage.We also have a little bit of other news including a bridge in Port Augusta that is being pulled down instead of opened for rec fishing and an agenda of what RecFish SA and PIRSA are discussing at their bi-monthly meeting. The Shimano Speedmaster 10 is our tackle item of the week, this reel did the damage on heaps of Tuna over the weekend and is a great overhead reel which fished perfectly iin the 10kg mono competition rules.

Episode 103: James Manna and Mitch HallydayThis week we have a bumper episode with 2 Massive guestsFirstly we chat with Mitch Hallyday as a part of our news segment. Mitch is fresh of winning the Wirrina Tuna Slam catching a 14.6kg fish on the Saturday, followed by another 14 kilo fish on the Sunday. Mitch gives us a run down on another excellent weekend put on by the Game Fishing Club of SA and even tells us where he managed to catch the winning fish. Mitch comes from an excellent fishing family, his wife Mel was one of the winners of the Coast 2 Coast competition in 2023 so we also try to find out who is the family's champion fisho!We are also joined by James Manna, skipper of ‘Going Grey’ a beautiful Stabicraft 2400, who is kindly taking us out as a part of his crew in the Port Lincoln Tuna Comp over the March long weekend. We fished with James last weekend, catching 4 tuna so it’s great to be going into the comp with some form under the belt. We talk with James about his past experience in the Port Lincoln comp, our prep for this years competition and what we can expect as a couple of first timers in the competition. Plus, we have all our regular segments, including an update on where the fish (Tuna in particular) are biting, talk about the Shimano 100lb wind on leader as our tackle item of the week and discuss the news in SA fishing!

It was great to have some local knowledge on the day and awesome to have an expert local on the show to discuss all things KI fishing! Episode 101: Josh Bland, RecFish SA Project OfficerThis week we are joined by Josh who has recently joined  RecFish SA in their newly created role of Project Officer. This job combines Josh’s research background with his love of fishing and will work closely with Executive Officer Asher, working on citizen science projects and everything else linking rec fishing and science. We find out about Josh’s background and some of his fishing highlights and also touch on some of his early work with RecFish including citizen tuna tagging, an early review of whether yellowfin whiting numbers are down and also discuss why the tuna season has been slow so far this summer. Plus, we have all the latest fishing news in SA:The west beach ramp is currently limited by a sailing event.Carp Frenzy at Lake Bonney coming up soon.When will the Cape Jervis boat ramp be back to full capacityWe also preview our trip to Kangaroo Island next week and feature the Hook Em tag pole that we are using for tagging tuna and kingfish this summer. Episode 98: Ryan from Reef EncountersThis week we are joined by Ryan, the skipper of Reef Encounters, one of the states best fishing charters, operating out of the Southern Yorke Peninsula. Episode 97: Ben CalvertThis week we are joined by a South Aussie Fisho who has taken his fishing talents onto the national stage, competing and having a huge amount of success in Barra Comps in Northern Queensland. Ben has really cracked the code on these iconic fish, he placed 9th overall in the Australian Bass Tournaments Barra Series and was the Runner Up in the Mackay Tournament Anglers Grand Final, fishing largely against locals who have done this for years. Episode 95: Boomer AnchorsThis week we are joined by Duncan Webster, the man behind this innovative product. Duncan designed the anchor after being frustrated at losing anchors when getting them stuck on reefy bottom while fishing the Queensland coast where he lives. The anchor has a breakaway system, meaning when the anchor is stuck, extra motor pressure will collapse the anchor via a shear pin, releasing it from the reef; it can then have a new shear pin inserted and can be used again straight away! We have a great chat with Duncan about how the idea came about, the different steps in improving the anchor and growing the business and also chat about his own fishing!We also have a big announcement, we have launched the first All The Gear But No Idea T Shirts, which are available for pre order and will be in stock early in the new year. Episode 94: David Speirs This week we are very lucky to have the South Australian Opposition Leader David Speirs join us to chat about all things rec fishing. David was instrumental in getting the local reservoirs opened to fishing when he was previously the States Environment Minister, a project that he is really proud of and one that has no doubt been hugely successful. He gives us a bit of a behind the scenes look at his recent trip off Marion Bay, fishing and filming with Paul Worsteling from IFish. We also talk about Sailfish in Malaysia, giant Salmon in Alaska and barrel Tuna in the South East, plus he gives us some feedback on our own contributions to SA Angler over recent years.We are also joined by Flacky from Troll So Hard Lures as a part of the fishing report, to discuss his recent trip to Port MacDonnell, which included a massive 134kg Southern Bluefin Tuna. This has certainly been bitter sweet for Rob, he still loves the brand and the boats, and is continuing to work with new owner Andrew Harris. He will also continue to run Christies Beach Marine. Josh is a marine biologist by trade, but is also a gun fisherman having success across all areas of SA fishing, from reservoir natives in his kayak, to Tuna and Kingfish offshore and plenty of Squid and Whiting for the table.
