Description

Coming Up Higher was created by sister singer-songwriters, authors, and worship leaders, Alicia & Whitney. The sisters have learned through their personal relationships with Jesus and through ministering around the world that atmospheres and environments are crucial in hosting the Presence of God. They have a passion for teaching others how to shift their personal atmospheres and environments through practical, everyday situations so that everyone can position themselves to hear God's voice, know their purpose, and live a life of habitation with the Father.

Nowadays, it's easy to write someone off for their shortcomings, but is there a better way? What does it look like to uproot the weeds in our life? In this week's episode, Alicia and Whitney bring back guest Debbie Short to discuss the phrase, "Squash the problem, Raise the person." Listen as Debbie gives examples of how to embody what it looks like to view people in your life with the love of Jesus and still help them work at squashing their problems? Let's change our mindset on how we approach problems in life.
How do you love others? We are called to love our neighbors as ourselves. However, how do you love your neighbors if you do not love yourself? In this week's episode, Alicia and Whitney interview Mark Marshall as he tackles the idea of loving yourself in relation to loving your neighbors. There is a difference between neglecting yourself and denying yourself. The best way to love yourself is by loving others. Listen as Mark drops different truths on how your views of yourself and how you think God views you affect the way you love him and others.
Are there areas in your life that need healing that can only come from the Lord? Have you been searching for an option to heal your deep wounds or traumas? Are there times when you have questioned your responses to situations, or can you sense something wrong deep down? In this week's episode Whitney and Alicia interview Ashli Van Horn on how to access inner healing. Ashli shares her experience growing up in the church and the role inner healing has played in her life. She breaks down the idea of inner healing and the benefit of taking time to use inner healing to work through situations to help foster a flourishing of life and a deeper relationship with God.
What does it look like to grow a strong foundation of faith in times of difficulty? How do you help develop your child's faith in their younger years? What happens when you fail in your ministry? Listen as Whitney and Alicia interview Pastor Rowdy Van Horn from One Church - Scottsdale. Rowdy shares his upbringing and history as a pastor. Even amid challenging circumstances, God met him and used it for good. We hope his testimony brings encouragement in your daily walk with the Lord.
Have you ever said "yes" to God? Have you felt a tug on your heart leading you in a different direction, or have you had a craving to increase the depth of your relationship with the Lord? Sometimes we think that following the Lord looks a certain way, or we can view someone's life and question why we do not have similar experiences. But often, going deeper with God requires a sacrifice, dying to self, figuring out who we are in Christ, and saying yes to God. Alicia and Whitney discuss their experiences of saying yes in the week's episode and the journey it has taken them on. Listen to their encouragement as you go deeper with God.
Alicia and Whitney chat with special guest Donna Howell. Donna is an author and has published several books. This week's episode is a deep dive conversation about women in ministry and her book, The Handmaidens Conspiracy: How Erroneous Bible Translations Obscured the Women's Empowerment Movement STARTED by JESUS CHRIST. Listen as she shares her journey wrestling with this topic and helps show a better understanding of how we can interpret these verses. If our conversation leaves you wanting more, you can search for Donna's book on Amazon.
Has God given you a dream or a desire, but it has not occurred immediately? We all have been there, and it can be frustrating. Alicia and Whitney provide hope and encouragement in the week's episode by sharing Joseph's story. God gave Joseph dreams as a young child that were extraordinary. However, Joseph had to endure many highs and lows to see these dreams come to fruition. Maybe you feel like you're stuck in the pits or prison. Don't give up. Ask yourself, "What is happening in your life that God can use to equip you to achieve the dream?"
Alicia and Whitney chat with special guest, Chasity Latrice, in this week's episode. Listen as she shares how her new understanding of God was a catalyst that transformed every area of her life. Chasity shares her testimony and passion to spread the gospel through her different  ministries including music, dance and her own clothing line! Alicia and Whitney sit down with Debbie Short in this week's episode. Listen as she explains the Conspiracy of Kindness. Has the Lord ever prompted your heart? Have you ever felt the tug of the Holy Spirit? Listen as Debbie shares stories of interactions she has had with strangers and how God has used those interactions to speak to her and the stranger. Be encouraged to sit down and work on the different promptings the Lord might be speaking into your life. You never know the impact you may have.
On this episode of our podcast, Alicia & Whitney ask the question, "Why can't it be both?" Why can't you be scared, but still show up? Why can't you  still believe for the best in the middle of disappointment? Life doesn't have to be all or nothing or one or the other. There are times where we live in the contradiction between what we are believing God for and the reality of the circumstances around us, but He provides the grace to navigate through these uncertain times! We want to encourage you to not wait for all the conditions to be just right to step out in faith but to step out and believe again today!
