Description

Hello, my name is Susie. I started the Inside Out Series because I wanted to encourage lighthearted and relatable conversations around anything and everything taboo! Each episode will feature a guest speaker; we’ll get down to the nitty gritty of what’s going on in their lives and then play a game of life on a desert island…hopefully one day we’ll have a mailbag too! You can find us on Instagram @susieflory or please email susie@susieflory.com for any inquiries. Thank you so much for listening!

This is an episode I really wish I had filmed; when Lydia Graham arrived at my flat looking SO effortlessly cool with a coffee in one hand and croissant in the other I was blown away by her beauty- this girl is absolutely gorgeous, inside and out! Lydia became a model aged 17 after winning a contest and has recently founded her own brand ‘Oh Lydia Intimates’.  As much as we avoid admitting we live in M&S knickers, I know we all love a pair of granny pants. Well, Lydia has somehow managed to make this concept fashionable and really very cool by creating a range of underwear that have the two most crucial factors - colourful and large. Today, Lydia joins me to talk about the pressures of her career and her journey as a young entrepreneur! I am certain you will be as charmed by Lydia as I was. @ohlydiagraham@ohlydia_intimateshttps://www.ohlydia-intimates.co.uk/
I didn’t actually believe wonder woman was a real-life human until I met today’s guest. In this episode, I’m joined by former Olympic triple jumper, superstar mum, and just generally the world's biggest babe Michelle. She is nothing other than a ball of contagious energy and she joins me in an honest conversation on balancing determination, drive, and simply being human. The story of how she met her husband is by far the best thing I’ve ever heard- which proves my theory ‘if you don’t ask you don’t get’.  I know it’ll make you smile. @michellegriffithrobinsonhttps://michellegriffithrobinsonoly.co.uk/
Today’s guest is the wonderful Rob Eades, otherwise known as ‘The Lean Student Chef’. Rob spent some time in the alps during his gap year where he was asked to fill the role of a chalet boy. Despite having never actually cooked, he told his clients he was a bit of an esteemed chef and rose to the challenge. Ever since he really has become quite the cook and is on a mission to get students eating well on a budget - something I can really relate to. In this episode, He confirms that even the most successful people understand imposter syndrome! Above all, his get up and go to attitude is seriously contagious and he simply proves that anything is possible If you put your mind to it! When I spoke to Rob he was just about to go for a run in torrential rain which really sums him up- enjoy! @rob_eades
I know a lot of the listeners will relate when I say that getting a job as it is is really tough- especially at the moment. So, for those of you who want to know the ints and outs of what it actually takes to get a job post-pandemic then this is the episode for you. Today, I am joined by Julietta dexter who is the founder of London’s top PR and communications agency; Science Magic.Inc, formerly The Communications Store.  She started her company aged just 25 after quitting her job and with only £600.00 in the bank. Today she joins me to discuss what it is really like to build a business whilst also being respected as a female founder. She gives some practical advice on what it really takes to get your job application noticed- I know you will enjoy her words of wisdom as much as I did. https://sciencemagic.inc/https://www.instagram.com/sciencemagic.inc/Instagram: @sciencemagic.inc
I first met Ugo when he came into my office at work, It only took about 5 seconds to confirm that not only was he as effortlessly cool as he appears on TV, but just a really genuine guy.  Today’s guest is Ugo Monye, an English sports pundit, and former rugby union player. Despite falling into the stereotype of being a strong rugby lad, Ugo is also completely in tune with his emotions. In today’s episode, Ugo tells me all about his career as a professional rugby player and all its highs and low. We also talk about the link between physiological wellbeing and physical performance. And finally, he tells me about how his life has changed from Friday night pints with the lads to playing barbies with his daughter Phoenix and Ruby. His quick-fire questions are also pretty stand out… Ugo is a serious gem- I know you’ll enjoy his positivity, let alone his infectious laugh as much as I did. @ugomonye
It has to be said, the majority of my guests have come about as a result of me, rather shamelessly siding into their DM’s. However, when it comes to today’s guest- the roles were completely reversed. Georgia Hearn, aka Clean Geeg, initially contacted me asking for help with setting up her own podcast; I wish my mother had told me. What I didn’t know, was that not only is she an amazing freelance chef - check her out on IG but she also carries a really inspiring story. Georgia joins me today to talk about addiction, taking drugs aged fourteen, what it's really like to spend a month in rehab, and ultimately, getting sober. Her story is nothing but refreshing, and she opens up about something which hasn’t had nearly enough airtime, particularly amongst millennials. There might be some sensitive material in this podcast so I just wanted to make anyone aware before listening to it. @cleangeeg@iwishmymotherhadtoldme
Before introducing today’s guest, I just wanted to make you aware that this episode contains sensitive content, if your mental health is at risk, please avoid it.I actually don’t think I have ever been so impressed by someone as I was when talking to Michael Maisey. It is safe to say, Michael's experience shows us that absolutely anything is possible. At the age of just 12, Michael was already smoking crack. As a teenager, he went on serve time in the Young Offenders institute on three different occasions first for robbery, then for assault, and finally- attempted murder. Now.. he is a  businessman, author, mentor, father, and firmly one of the most inspiring people I have ever met. He joins me today to talk about his story and the power of vulnerability. He shares that despite having every factor against him, and near to no support when hitting rock bottom he managed to turn his life completely around. If there is one thing you do today, it should be to purchase a copy of his book young offenders- it will completely change your life. Instagram @michaelmaiseyTwitter @Michael_Maisey
Before kindly being put in touch with Daisy Knatchbull I had heard from multiple sources that this girl was seriously impressive- which I can absolutely confirm.  After years of working for a men’s tailoring company and in an aim to break fashion rules, Daisy was the first female to turn up to the  Royal enclosure wearing a top hat and tails- unsurprisingly her Carrie Bradshaw approach meant she was nothing other than applauded in. With that, she founded The Deck London, where she crafts very cool tailored suits exclusively for women. But not only is Daisy an amazing entrepreneur, but she’s an incredibly honest and kind human being. IN Daisy’s episode, she removes any preconception that being a founder consists of drinking coffees in Soho house and really delves deep into all the unglamorous bits we don’t actually see.  She gives a refreshingly honest view of life and confirms that successful people actually can experience anxiety! If you think you’ve found your girl crush, well, think again@thedecklondonwww.thedecklondon.com
For those of you who are as obsessed with Elizabeth Day’s ‘How to fail’ as I am, you’ll already know all about our upcoming guest. And for those who don’t, you’re in for a treat. Today I was honoured to speak to Mo Gawdat, the former chief business officer for google ex and author of Solve for Happy where he discusses an algorithm he has created for happiness. If his soothing voice isn’t enough to make you fall in love with him, just wait until you hear his words of wisdom. I quite literally slid into Mo’s DM’s, and after two (very flattering) messages he responded one morning at 6.30 am, I cried I was so excited. He is now someone I have had the pleasure of getting to know , and there are no words which do him justice, this man is nothing other than a really special person. For a man that had 16 cars by the age of 29, he shares that his happiest moment was actually aged 23 when money was low but he was completely in love with his former wife. In this episode, we talk about what it really means and takes to be happy, the pressures of being a millennial, how to really wangle your way around a dating app, and why indecisionitus is a thing. Mo- over to you. This episode was just a fraction of the wisdom Mo is willing to offer- please go and listen to his podcast Slow Mo and download his audible book “Solve For Happy’- you won’t regret it. @mo_gawdat

Hello, my name is Susie Flory, and welcome back to Season Two of The Inside Out Series, the Podcast that celebrates everything and anything taboo.  Each week, I am joined by an inspiring guest who opens, shares their story and, helps teach me all of those all-important life lessons we didn’t actually learn at school. Firstly, I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone who listened to Season one and to those who have shared it with family and friends! The support means so much and I have absolutely loved every second of it.  Words can’t describe how inspired I have been by each of my guests this season, I can safely say that they all made me laugh and some have even managed to make me cry. On that note, Here is a little insight into what’s to come….@theinsideoutseries@susieflory www.susieflory.comsusie@susieflory.com
Hello, so today I’ve spent the last 20 minutes faffing around and trying to put a string of sentences together which will justify today’s guest, but there really aren’t any. So today’s guest is James Shone, who experienced a life-changing accident about 8 years ago, I’ll let him tell you his story. But his ability to see life in such a positive way is just such an inspiration in itself. Now, he acts as a motivational speaker, he’s an amazing dad, loving husband and he’s also a very good bread maker. All in all, he’s a bit of a faultless human being so please give it a listen and I promise you it is worth it. His perspective on life offers just such a breath of fresh air and I was even just reduced to tears.
