The Badfish SUP Journal is a production of Badfish SUP in Salida, Colorado. The Audio Journal tells stories from the Badfish family and the wider world of paddling and paddleboarding. Interviews with interesting people from the paddling community, trip reports, technique tips, story telling and news about stand up paddleboarding. From whitewater rivers, to the coast and all across the world Badfish SUP has created connections between paddlers and the Audio Journal is a new way for us to make a connection with you!

On this episode Mike talks with Chev Dixon, Director of the Hudson River Riders program in Yonkers, NY. The Hudson River Riders is a program that gets kids from Yonkers out paddling on the Hudson River. Chev was a kid from Jamaica living in Yonkers when he discovered the Yonkers Paddling and Rowing Club. From his first introduction to paddling and the Hudson River at 18 years old, he  has become the driving force for the Hudson River Riders and a highly skilled sea kayaker. Slater Trout was one of the first true superstars of stand up paddling. Slater came in 2nd place at the Battle of the Paddle at the age of 14 then ran off a string of top results for the next decade plus. Slater is from Maui, Hawaii where he lives now. Slater pursues the Waterman lifestyle, surfing and paddling while training full time, maintaining a busy travel schedule and creating content for brand partners. For today's episode I wanted to do something a little different. I just returned from Vail, Colorado where the GoPro Mountain Games came back after a year's hiatus. It was so fun to be back racing with the Colorado SUP community. The 4.5 mile downriver race was well attended and I ran around and tried to capture the vibe with these audio clips. In this episode I interview Norm Hann, owner of Norm Hann Expeditions. Norm guides clients in some of the most spectacular waters of North America on the Coast of British Columbia. Through his paddling Norm has become an activist fighting to protect the Great Bear Forest. First ever episode of the Badfish SUP Journal. A production of Badfish in Salida, CO. We manufacture stand up paddleboards, river surfing boards and related products. The audio journal brings you stories from our world and from the broader world of paddling. Paddleboards are one of the most versatile platforms for adventure on all types of water. Our goal with the podcast is to tell stories around a shared passion for being on the water. In this first episode we talk with one of the true pioneers in stand up paddling, Charlie Macarthur. Charlie, AKA, C-Mac is the owner of Aspen Kayak and SUP School in Aspen, Colorado. In this interview he talks about first being introduced to paddleboarding in 1973 in Hawaii. He talks about his own personal progression with SUP and as an instructor trainer with the ACA (American Canoe Association) he talks about larger trends in the sport.
