This week, four OU College of Law Students were able to attend the annual ILTA>ON conference. While things were a bit different since the conference was held virtually, our students were able to get tremendous value out of our experiences and are here to share our takeaways with you. The OU Law TALIS program is happy to welcome Rich Lubbers and Amanda Finch to join regular hosts Cole Reynolds and Anthony Kanalas this week as they discuss key takeaways from the ILTA conference.
This week, our hosts take a step back as we listen to some of the student leaders at OU Law pitch their organization to new and returning students for this year!Timestamps:OUTLAW - 1:20 Contact: laurel.d.havens-1@ou.eduMilitary Law Society - 4:45Contact: katericart@ou.eduHealth Law Student Association (HLSA) - 6:11Contact: madisonrhodes1@ou.eduInstagram: @OU_HLSAOAWL (Oklahoma Advancement of Women in Law) - 7:19Contact: zoekent@ou.eduAmerican Constitution Society (ACS) - 9:31Contact: joe.daniel@ou.eduOklahoma International Law Society (OILS) - 11:45 Contact: daytenisrael@ou.edu or marianapitts@ou.eduIP Society (Intellectual Property) - 12:50 Contact: sydneyforsander@ou.eduSports and Entertainment Law Society - 17:01Contact: john.leatherwood@ou.edu (phone number 901.497.2163)Public Interest Law Student Association (PILSA) - 21:46Contact: megan.mckenna@ou.eduTechnology and Legal Innovation Society (TALIS) - 24:25Contact: colereynolds@ou.edu FBA (Law Student Federal Bar Association) - 26:05Contact: amanda.m.finch-1@ou.edu
For those of us entering our last year of law school, it is important that we enter the legal profession with some capacity to adapt and innovate. With the impact of COVID-19, that has never been more important. Luckily for us at OU Law, Professor Kenton Brice offers a class on Technology in Law Practice for just that reason. One of our assignments was to automate documents using Woodpecker and Documate. This episode contains my "firm's" raw thoughts on the process and these platforms. Big thanks to Amanda Finch, Allyson Shumaker, and Elizabet Teagan for sharing their thoughts with our podcast! To contact Woodpecker to schedule a demo or sign up: https://www.woodpeckerweb.com/?utm_expid=.iuvcMGTKQrWMyE8iw3fvuQ.0&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2FTo contact Documate to schedule a demo or sign up: https://www.documate.org/?gclid=CjwKCAjwjqT5BRAPEiwAJlBuBfUF9-yGWLb7YWhjl-t-66I9SJHdPAj18bdBBbjXLe9MJT15UPi9iRoCsl8QAvD_BwEFollow us on Twitter! OU TALIS: @OuTalisCole: @ColeReynolds_58Anthony: @ajkanalas
Our guest, Colin Levy, has made a name for himself by sharing his experiences through his blog and social media presence. As an experienced practitioner, he joins us today to share his advice to law students on how to prepare for a career in the legal profession, as well as how to use social media and writing to connect with your peers. Follow Colin on Twitter at @Clevy_LawFollow the TALIS team on twitter at @OuTalisFollow Anthony on Twitter at @ajkanalasFollow Cole on Twitter at @ColeReynolds_58
From automation, e-filing, cybersecurity, practice management software, and cloud storage, it can be difficult to ensure that law schools are training students on the tools that they will use in practice. At The University of Oklahoma College of Law, the Digital Initiative aims to do just that. By giving each student an iPad, providing onsite training, and building innovative spaces for students to study and collaborate, OU Law gives its students a unique advantage when they join the legal profession. Please rate and review us wherever you are listening, and follow us on Twitter at @OuTalis for new episodes and additional updates.
At OU Law, social media is set to play an important role in bringing people together. Today we are talking with Camal Pennington from OU law about the OU Law Conversations initiative. We will discuss the changes we all face in light of the Corona Virus Pandemic, technology’s ability to help us overcome relevant challenges, how OU Law plans to bring the stories of students and alumni to the forefront of the College’s virtual presence, and how these stories are meant to connect us as a community. Feel free to follow The University of Oklahoma College of law on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Follow OU TALIS on Twitter at @OuTalis for future episodes and updates.
Welcome to TALIcast! Join us as Cole and Anthony share their backgrounds and experiences in law school and discuss the importance of legal technology during the Coronavirus pandemic. We have it all: AI, automation, remote working, and more!
