In this episode we cover:When did we get so consumed with technology that we’ve allowed it to capture our complete attention more than an actual human being? How God must feel when we not only choose other people before Him, but THINGSIs this dependency on electronics and technology also affecting our relationship with the Lord? Our need to be aware of where we are directing our focus. Our need to be attentive of what is capturing our attention.Be thankful for the benefits of the tools and global connections that technology brings us, but don’t allow technology to rob you of your connection to God.God sees all the little things you do; He's interested in more than just "big" things. The fruit of His Spirit--such as kindness, patience, and self-control--often manifests itself in quiet ways that others may never give you credit for. In this episode we cover:You’ve been waiting for your weights to be lifted but have you considered that simply letting go of your weights could lift your wait? You carry burdens so tightly wound in your grasp that they change you. How being so focused on our problems tunnels our vision to the point where help could be to our right or left but we can’t see it! Over time when we decide to let go some of us find:1.     There was nothing there all this time. 2.     You were holding a feather, something so light and insignificant that with the slightest breeze it’s carried away. 3.     Some were holding bricks—missing those easier paths traveled because you couldn’t see them so determined to carry your weight or burdens. 4.     Now that you have let go of your weights (an emotional weight), a wait (a temporal wait) can be lifted. 5.     The bricks you left at your feet must be destroyed because you’ve already developed the muscle mass to carry them and it would be so easy to pick them back up rather than retrain your mind and body for something new. They have to broken into manageable pieces through: a)     Wise counsel—medical and spiritual, b)    Doing what you know is right even when it’s difficult, even when you don’t want to and even when it’s uncomfortable, and c)     With the passage of timeDr. Sheri (pronounced Sher-Ree) is a visionary, best-selling author, and sought-after physician leader. Dr. Foggie’s passion stemmed from her desire to help people avoid chronic disease and obesity-related illness after the loss of loved ones. Carla’s passion came from suffering from her personal struggle with obesity. Their ministry is assisting others in overcoming battles associated with weight (which is a multi-factorial, neuro-behavioral, and psychological disease).Dr. Foggie is a native Chicagoan, a graduate of Northwestern University as well as the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. She practiced Obstetrics/Gynecology for over 20 years. Her parents suffered from obesity and struggled with kidney failure, amputations, cancer, and heart disease. Watching both of her parents live with these health challenges sparked her commitment to better nutrition and fitness and it made her want to help her patients as well. In 2016 she launched the Illinois Wellness and Weight Loss Centers (IWWLC). Dr. Foggie helped her sister, Carla, shed over 100 pounds. After seeing the results of her commitment to herself, Carla left her career of 30 years as a chemical lab technician to join Dr. Foggie as a Certified Health Coach/Consultant and together they are dedicated to transforming lives. Carla then began her ministry, Journey to Wholeness which promotes lifestyle changes by educating and instilling healthy food habits that decrease the risk and impact of obesity. Thank you so much for listening to our podcast! In this episode we cover:Why Christians should pause and reflect on the turning of the calendar. How each day is a chance to turn the page on an old way of life and embrace a new one.Setting goals for a new year are an important sign that we’re intentional about glorifying God in our callings—work and business, home and church, private and public witness.Four important steps we can take, as we peer into 2021 to draw closer to God.            Remember God’s great faithfulness.            Repentance brings relief and joy.            Renew the core commitments we already have, like marriage, family, and church.            Rest in the reality of our identity in God AND we should plan to physically rest. Dr. Sheri (pronounced Sher-Ree) is a visionary, best-selling author, and sought-after physician leader. She is an occupational & environmental medicine physician, public health expert, and a breast cancer survivor. After breast cancer treatment left her disabled from lymphedema in her right upper extremity, stripping her of her life-long dream of being a practicing physician, she re-invented herself and went on to become a national public figure, professional speaker, and entrepreneur/owner of her own healthcare consulting business. She has been the catalyst for transformation in the space of cultural and workplace diversity for more than two decades.
