Freddie Golden, Jr., a 19-year-old from Chicago, IL, is currently pursuing a computer science degree at Morehouse College. After receiving $1.6 million dollars in academic scholarships in highschool, Freddie is able to obtain his Morehouse College degree free of charge. Coming from the rough west side environment of Chicago, Freddie hopes to spread a positive message to the youth through his book: financing your college education is possible.
We had a surprise guest and announcement by Tinker Hatfield- The Greatest Shoe Designer of All Time- Nike's Vice President of Design and Special Projects.  Tinker shares his recent thoughts on the MBK/Ravensbourne London Final Presentation of the London/Chicago Cultural Exchange. His fondest memories of working closely with Michael Jordan and his meeting up with Cabrini Greens kids consistently.  Tinker also shares the surprise of donating for 3 years straight to CHAMPS Male Mentoring via the NBA Championship Bottles design fee via Michelob Ultra.  
William "Billy" Moore joined Vondale Singleton live at CHAMPS Saturday for this Live Audience Podcast recording.  He discussed his new book "Until The Lion Speaks"  Having been incarcerated for twenty years for the shooting incident that led to No #1 player in the nation, Benji Wilson's death in 1984.  He also was a victim of gun violence when he lost   his own son to gun violence.Mr. Moore devotes his life to ensuring that other young men live lives of meaningful purpose as opposed to regret.  CRED’s holistic approach brings together proven models—street outreach, life coaching, and counseling, violence prevention, workforce development, advocacy and prevention— to create transformative change in the South and West side communities of Chicago.  Mr. Moore has been coined a violence interrupter as his hands on work and sharing of his life’s experiences has had a noted impact on countless individuals who needed a compassionate counselor to expose them to hope and lead them from criminal and violent lifestyles.    
Dwayne has been a three-time guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show, correspondent for Next TV, hosted the Unity breakfast for The Obama Presidential Library and has been featured on ABC, CBS, FOX, WYCC, WTTW, NBC and PBS networks for his impactful work throughout various communities. Dwayne has also received a Proclamation from the Pennsylvania State Legislatures for his book: The STOP – Improving Police and Community Relations.  Recognizing his work for creating solutions to improve police and community relations, Dwayne received EBONY Magazine’s EBONY Power 100’s “Community Crusader” award and the FBI’s Director of Community Leadership Award for his work to improve Police and Community Relations and his efforts to educate parents to the dangers of social media. From the south side of Chicago, Jamila Trimuel is a results-driven leader and encourages others to pursue purpose at all costs. She is the Founder of Ladies of Virtue, an award winning mentoring program that has empowered over 1,000 girls to become confident and purpose-driven leaders.​As a mentor, social entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Jamila Trimuel has over ten years of experience in strategic planning and community engagement for nonprofit organizations. Jamila is a Broad Residency alum, a highly competitive leadership program that places participants in high-level managerial positions to help transform our public school systems. Jamila is the product of the South Shore community on Chicago’s southeast side.  She attributes a large part of her success to her parents and thanks them for fueling her grit and desire to pursue her passion at all costs. Jamila was recognized as Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Humanitarian Award winner in 2012.  She was also recognized as a Change Agent and invited to the United State of Women Summit hosted by the White House in 2016.  In 2017, she was recognized by Chicago Scholars for their 35 under 35 Award and received Rush University’s Hidden Figures Award. Jamila was one of the 100 community leaders from Chicago (500 in total around the world) invited to attend the inaugural Obama Foundation Summit in 2017. In addition, she was a 2017 National Mentor Summit Fellow.  She also won the Coaches Award at the 2018 Social Venture Partners (SVP) Fast Pitch competition for Chicagoland nonprofits. Jamila also presented her Tedx Talk in 2018 entitled, "Make Today Your Saturday. Live a Fulfilled Life of Purpose." Furthermore, in 2018, Jamila was honored alongside Jesse Jackson Sr. with the "Giving a Hand Out to Give a Hand Up" Mentoring Award by the Calahan Foundation. In 2019, Jamila was honored with the Leading Lady Community Award by the Daisie Foundation. ​Jamila has a Bachelor of Science in Community Health from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Science in Health Systems Management from Rush University.  She also holds a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from The Broad Center for Management of School Systems. Anthony Wright is the Chief Executive Officer for Ring of Hope.  Mr. Wright serves as a Pastor, teacher, visionary, and community leader in the Greater Grand Crossing community. He is a graduate of Trinity International Deerfield IL, with two bachelor’s degrees: one in Christian Ministry and, the other in organizational leadership. Anthony Wright later received a master’s degree in Social work from the University of Chicago and, currently working toward his LCSW (license clinical social worker).  For over a decade he has worked within the Chicago Public School system with high school and grammar school students, as a teacher, prevention specialist, and more recently as a social worker.  Anthony Wright has a passion for community development and outreach. He has been married for over 25 years to wife Chondra Wright, and the proud father of five boys. After more than 15 years in ministries and nine years in community development, Anthony Wright, continues to be a leading voice of inspiration for those in which he serves.
Host Vondale Singleton sits down with Christopher Crater, a Chicago Native rooted in serving his city.   Christopher is a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University with a BA in Communication and a graduate from Arkansas State University with a Masters Degree in Communication Studies. Christopher is currently a part of the Public Engagement Team at the Obama Foundation as the Community Engagement Associate. Christopher helps lead the community engagement efforts around bringing the Obama Presidential Center to Chicago’s Southside. Most recently, Christopher served as Director of Community Programs for Urban Prep Academies.With more than 6 years of urban education experience as both a teacher and administrator on Chicago’s West and Southside. Christopher has worked closely with several Chicago violence prevention programs around the advancement of African American males.

Because we spend most of our waking hours at work, she wants to help you be great when you are there.  But before all of that, she says her most important job is being the mom to her daughter Kennedy, who is a brilliant, talented, kind and funny 4th grader at Morgan Park Academy. Dominique is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated and a graduate of Clark Atlanta University. She has been recognized numerous times for her work in the community. In 2016, her sorority named her Woman of the Year, Glamour Magazine recognized her as one of their 50 hometown heroes, and the esteemed radio show Café Mocha acknowledged her with the Community Activist Award. Given her leadership in the city, Mayor Rahm Emanuel has appointed her to both the Chicago Board of Education and the Chicago Public Library Board. Additionally, Dominique is one of the 20 leaders selected from more than 20,000 applicants from 191 countries to be an inaugural Obama Foundation Fellow. This Fellowship will be a collaborative effort to elevate and continue to empower the next generation of Chicago leaders. Outside of work, Dominique is fluent in Spanish, loves to dance, travel and spend time with her “Fit Chics” family working out. Her home and office is filled with inspirational quotes and one of her favorite is “I’ll find a way or make one”. Dominique has a new book “Finding Your Superpowers” coming in 2019! Dominique is passionate about creating equal education opportunities for underserved youth.  She believes that education is not a merit of socioeconomic status, but a valuable resource to pull marginalized youth out of poverty and into leadership positions that positively influence their communities.Dominique’s advice to Scholars is to maximize your leadership while in college. Do not just join an organization, be the president of that organization, or start your own.
Special Guest-​Darnell Leatherwood is a doctoral candidate, Institute of Education Sciences (IES) fellow, and Illinois Board of Higher Education (DFI) fellow at the University of Chicago in the School of Social Service Administration. He holds a M.A. in the Social Sciences from the University of Chicago and a B.S. from the College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he double majored in Management (concentration in Entrepreneurship) and Business Process Management. Before starting his doctoral program, Darnell taught algebra 1 at the Urban Prep Academies and was the civic engagement coordinator & an assistant teacher at the Montessori School of Englewood in Chicago.  Black Boys Shine is a campaign to illuminate the extraordinary, positive, and often unrecognized character and contributions of Black boys and men nationally and internationally. The strengthening of the Black male image is paramount to this cause. That said, we take back control of the Black male image/narrative and showcase a truth that is often obscured, Black Boys are brilliant, Black Boys are innovative, Black Boys are exceptional...Black Boys Shine!Black Boys Shine was founded by Darnell Leatherwood and co-founded by Chad Lyles.
Joined by NBA Legend Craig Hodges who hails from the Chicago area and was born Craig Anthony Hodges is an American retired professional basketball player and former head coach of the Westchester Knicks of the NBA Development League. He played in the NBA for 10 seasons and led the league in 3-point shooting percentage three times.He played with the greatest NBA player ever, Michael Jordan and won two NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, and along with Larry Bird, is one of only two players to win three consecutive Three Point Contests at the National Basketball Association All-Star Weekend, winning the competition in 1990, 1991, and 1992. Hodges also holds the Three Point Contest records for the most consecutive shots made with 19, set in 1991, and the most points scored in a single round at 25, set in 1986.[4] He was later a head coach at Chicago State University, an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers and head coach of the Halifax Rainmen of the National Basketball League of Canada.
