There's a difference between pursuing dreams and pursuing dreams while raising a family and growing your marriage. In this episode I talk with Donta and Chantell Nelson about the ups and downs of being highly ambitious individuals, all while making your marriage and your kids your first priority. They open up about what makes a good partnership and the tools they've used to build a life that is centered around both their family and their passions. I hope you enjoy this!
Marcus Miller returns to the podcast to talk about one of my favorite subjects. One of the most important elements of creating a lifestyle that sustains your ability to run after big dreams is learning how to create an eco-system of people to do life with.Without this, we not only have a lower quality of life, but we don't feel as powerful to take risks and run after the scary things when we don't feel like we have people who are in our corner and care about us when we fail. In this episode we break down practical steps that we've both taken in different seasons of life to create, build and grow our community.
The title of this episode kinda speaks for itself....Here is a list of green flags that I look for when dating or "Getting to know someone" do you need more of a description?  ;)
I feel like we all know someone who is suffering from some form of chromic illness. From Lyme disease to autoimmune disorders, it can feel helpless, especially as young people, to suffer these kinds of health issues. The inability to do the things that you're used to doing, from not being able to enjoy life as you once knew it. There's a reason that chronic illness has a very high suicide rate. How do you find life when you're going through times like this? What are some ways to find hope and joy?How do you continue to explore your world and enjoy your time on this earth? If you're not personally going through sickness, what does it look like to be a good friend to someone who is going through this kind of hell?In this episode I'm joined by Emily Kosky and Michael Ferreira who have both suffered extreme chronic illness such as Cancer and Seizures. Both which have caused life altering consequences to their day to day lives.I hope this brings encouragement and hope to anyone going through difficult seasons where it's hard to see light at the end of the tunnel.
In this episode, Marcus Miller and I talk about practical ways to process through pain. When pain gets left unprocessed, we usually turn to get comfort in the form of unhealthy behaviors or addictions. I would argue that this is one of the most important things to learn in order to truly live a life of success, freedom, and pursuit of the things that make you come alive. When we can't navigate through pain in a healthy way, we aren't able to make the kind of forward momentum that could launch us into our passions or the life that we really want to live.
Creativity is one of the most valued gifts I can personally think of. To some extend, a lot of us see ourselves as creative, but what sets us apart from the average creator, is what we are willing to do with out creativity. How do we grow in creativity? How do we tap into more creativity? What are ways to stimulate our creativity when we feel stuck in our process? In this episode I talk about boredom and ways I believe that this is actually a gift to the creatives out there.
Whenever we allow someone else's dating experience to create our expectations for dating, we are filtering and narrowing our potential good experiences by holding onto someone else's offense, bitterness and judgment. Dating can be tricky and sometimes frustrating, but where are we getting most of our data or information from? Our personal experiences or our friends or social medias experience? I think anyone in the dating arena will be able to appreciate this conversation.
Like any relationship, we can have healthy and unhealthy reliance on them. We often don't observe what our relationship with our "hopes and dreams" look like. Yet, most of us have spent more time thinking about this relationship than most relationships we have. Our hopes, dreams, and visions fuel our decisions and create a compass for our actions. If we aren't intentional with how we approach our dreams, then our dreams and our expectation of what they will bring to our lives will control us in ways that we don't want and ultimately, take away our power to achieve them.
With over 1 million podcast downloads a month, it's safe to say that Case has a good amount of experience with creating a successful Chanel. Being featured in Forbes and several other publications only adds to the impressive resume ;) One of my favorite people to interview and have fun conversations. I hope you get out as much of this chat as I have as we talk a little bit about his journey and some of the practical steps he took to get there.
Who doesn’t want to level up their life as a whole? What are the major obstacles we face when we feel stuck or like we aren’t making progress? In this episode, I invite you into a potentially “Triggering Reality” about why we aren’t making forward momentum.I love to see people realize these simple truths, and with most people that I mentor, it begins with embracing this way of thinking.
I love having Abi Stumvoll on my podcast, especially when we rant about dating. Please excuse our bunny trails as we bounce around and laugh through lots of different topics and tell our stories of experience with dating and relationships. We talk about - The failures and valuable lessons from my last relationship - How to show up powerfully in dating- Ways to avoid creating a codependent relationship We might even talk about some random stuff like…..things that make people Good vs. Bad kissers…who knows…just listen to the episode.
Learning to process pain and pursue internal success has not been the most fun part of my 20's, but I've experienced more Joy and Fulfillment from that journey than any financial or business success that I've accumulated in my life. In this episode I talk about some of the vulnerable process behind some of the craziness of my life and some of the choices I've made because of it. I also talk a little bit about the vision behind this new podcast and why I changed the name from "The Fail Journal" To "The Bryant Ellis Podcast" I also swear a little bit, but don't tell my pastor....
The New Year is a time when you have lots of momentum. With an opportunity to start fresh, it can easily feel like your commitment to growth is stronger than ever. But while this momentum may last for weeks, possibly even months, there inevitably comes a time when it runs out. Your goals don’t get checked off as quickly as you thought they would - they start to require more effort than you expected - and suddenly you're enticed by a thousand excuses. That’s why, in this episode, Bryant puts forward the idea that we should expect “the suck.” Even embrace it! Not only is it impossible to avoid, it’s precisely where we rise to the next level. Before thinking about what you want to accomplish in 2022, give this episode a quick listen! Remember: You’ll always suck if you’re afraid to suck.
