Description

A podcast about being a vegan yogi in a non-vegan world, the fun (and not so fun) parts of becoming a yoga teacher, and ways we can incorporate yoga into our lives both on and off the mat. Jess is a 200 hour trained Vinyasa Flow teacher, and has completed over 230 hours of trauma-informed yoga training. Jess believes yoga is so much more than what we practice on the mat, and that by taking the time to connect to ourselves and our breath, means we can have a better-improved connection with our bodies.

There are some things that I've heard yoga teachers say over the years that really grind my gears. Not only do they come across as inaccessible, but also slightly innapropriate. Have you ever heard "just breathe through it" when working into a challenging shape? Or that there's no gain without any pain? Tapping into some more yoga vocabulary and offering some alternatives to some phrases you might hear, or even use, as a yoga teacher.Visit plantpoweredyoga.com for more episodes and resources, and don't forget to hit subscribe and rate or review this podcast! Support the show (https://paypal.me/JIvers)

Ep 16: What is Ahimsa?

Did you know there are 8 limbs to a yoga practice? And that the first of those limbs are the "yamas", or moral restraints or vows. The first on that list is Ahimsa, which means "non-violence"I practice non-violence on and off the yoga mat, and the practice of ahimsa is often more about the intent, rather than the action itself.
