The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. In today's Bible Podcast, James teaches us that we're to do more than just pray for our healing when we're sick. What can we learn from an ancient Jewish belief that could be the answer for our healing?  REVIEW OF WHAT WE'VE BEEN STUDYINGWe continue with our study of prayer and healing in James Chapter 5. James has been teaching us that when we are really sick (like your feet have been kicked out from under you kind of sick) that we are to call the elders of the church to come and pray over us. But James tells us that there's more than just prayer going on with the Elders during this time. How often do you do what James tells us to do in James 5:16? James 5:15a (NIV): And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. Have you ever said this to yourself? “If I just believe hard enough, God will heal me.” OR “If I just have enough faith, God will heal my loved one.” I mean, come on, we’ve probably all had it preached at us before…“If you just have enough faith you will be healed.” And they use James 5:15 to make their claim. But then the healing never comes, and you’re left wondering what you did wrong 🤷‍♀️ I’ve been there. I know your frustration 😩There is ONE word in the original Greek language that will completely change how you read this scripture and understand what God is doing in your life. My prayer is that today’s quick, but powerful Bible study will help you grasp what James 5:15 means on a much deeper level.I invite you to listen, and if God lays in on your heart to share with someone who is believing for their healing, could you please share it with them? In today's 2-minute Bible Study Podcast, you will discover:The ONE Greek word that completely changes the meaning of this verse Why doesn't God heal us instantlyWhat to do until you are healedListen now!Keeping the faith,Julie------------------------------------------Did you know that you can easily listen to this Bible Study podcast on your Amazon smart speaker? James 5:13 (NIV): Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.IN TODAY'S BIBLE STUDY:James wrote his letter to the persecuted Christians dispersed throughout the region. The main theme of his letter is found in James 1:22 (NIV) Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise, you will be condemned.Today's Bible verse from James 5:12 seems to come out of the blue. In the last Bible Study Podcast, James talked about having patience in the face of persecution (James 5:10-11). And immediately after James 5:12, James teaches about prayer. But, today he talks about swearing in God's name. Just being honest here, I don't understand how this applies to the surrounding verses, and neither do most Biblical scholars.
