T1D Exchange is dedicated to improving outcomes for the entire T1D population through driving real-world evidence and collaborative change. Their vision is Better, Longer Lives for all People with T1D. We're joined by two of T1D Exchanges leaders, Dave Walton, CEO, and Charlie Iacono, Vice President of Industry Relations and Commercial Partnerships for a great conversation. We touch on change in the diabetes landscape, diversity and inclusion, and the importance of getting involved in research studies. Both Dave and Charlie live with diabetes and talk about their involvement with the community from a professional and personal standpoint. Their goal of helping the future generations is very evident after speaking with them - we're pleased to work with such a great organization that supports research. They are building the most robust type 1 diabetes data platform in the United States and using it to drive meaningful research and innovation in treatment, prevention, and, hopefully, a cure. With our partners, we work to increase patient access to care and resources, promote education, and advocate for policy that helps our community, and leads to better, longer lives for all with T1D.IG - t1dexchangeJoin now at https://t1dexchange.org
During Black History month, Bolus Maximus spoke with 7 men to better understand their thoughts on some very important topics. They spoke about their relationship with healthcare professionals and the trust they have for their providers - or lack thereof. "If your doctor isn't helping you - fire them. They work for you!" - this is not possible for everyone, but you are your own best advocate. The need for mentorship within the black community has never been greater and some of our contributors talk about their personal experience and how life could have been different if they had a diabetic role model. All of these outspoken thought-leaders have been present on our calls where we have an opportunity to mentor others and they play a key role in building a better community. This is the second part of a multipart series Bolus Maximus will host, and we're excited to have this opportunity to create a safe and engaging space for people of color. Panel participants/Instagram Handles: Brandon A. During Black History month, Bolus Maximus spoke with 6 women to better understand their thoughts on some very meaningful topics. They spoke about their relationship with healthcare professionals and the trust they have for their providers or lack thereof. The need for mentorship within the black community and sharing parts of themselves with people living with diabetes, especially on social media and platforms they engage in. Their input for the online community hits home for many people as mental health is a major component of sharing who you are and how you see yourself. These women, most of them business owners, spoke about setting up for-profit entities and protecting your intellectual properties. Ownership is paramount in this crazy world. These women have the keys to success - this is the first of a multipart series Bolus Maximus will host, and we're excited to have this opportunity to create a safe and engaging space for people of color. Panel participants/Instagram Handles: co-Host Brandon A. I’m a clinical research professional with over 10 years’ experience in developing programs to improve minority patient outcomes and clinical trial participation. I create space for community partnership in pharma through patient engagement and education for medically marginalized populations. My primary goal is to ensure the intentional and ethical inclusion of patients in research. I believe this starts in the community and it is the responsibility of pharma to provide our community partners with the support for clinical trial safety education, safe and transparent spaces for dialogue in order to establish trust, and financial resources to address the social determinants of health that affect public health.I host a True Crime podcast called Clinical misTrials that tells the stories about clinical research gone wrong in communities of color. It explores the historical medical mistrust of racial minorities in research and tells the ‘end of the story’ by highlighting the regulations and guidelines that were established as a result. Through my consultancy, I contract with clinical trial organizations such as CITI Program in development of webinars and op-ed pieces that focus on the ethics of consenting under-enrolled patients into clinical trials.I serve on the executive board of directors for Heartland Alliance Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Chicago that serves our most vulnerable populations including families experiencing housing insecurity, people living with HIV/AIDS, and refugee/asylee children. Additionally, I serve on the executive board for Heal Chicago, a collective of professionals invested in dialogue and training toward becoming an anti-racist society.Professionally, at my day job, I’ve accomplished this work through the conduct of national public health initiatives, implementation of culturally competent health literacy programs, assessment of community needs through ethnographic investigation, and development of patient partnership councils.Instagram Handle : @clinicalmistrialsLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicoleafisher/__________________NOT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALSwww.bolusm.orgthebolusmaximus@gmail.comIG - @bolus.maximusEquipment:Rodecaster - https://tinyurl.com/2s42nd9jShure MV7 USB Podcast Microphone - https://tinyurl.com/c66yykxdSony A7r3 + Sony A7r4  - www.sony.comPodcast directory & host - https://bmax.buzzsprout.com/orhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/bolus-maximus-lets-talk-tough-stuff/id1523127347https://open.spotify.com/show/3JSK10ARLQsJBhJz6CO2DUhttps://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5idXp6c3Byb3V0LmNvbS8xMTQ2NDcwLnJzcw==https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-bolus-maximuss-podcast-69198364/https://www.pandora.com/podcast/bolus-maximuss-podcast/PC:33850https://web.podfriend.com/podcast/1523127347
