Do you remember a specific meal you at as a child?Do you remember how you felt eating it? Why am I asking this?I remember eating perogies, real perogies that my great grandma from Russia made, we were all there, my mom, my grandma, my cousins. When my great grandma passed, my grandma would make them and always say “eat more, eat more, eat more”. Everyone was happy and enjoying a meal together, not to mention a high carb, high fat meal, that I associated with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside.  Did you know most of us have a meal just like this that we go to when we are sad or stressed or feeling down? “To emotionally eat a human condition”-Pixie Turner Pixie is a graceful, kind, intelligent, and very passionate soul who genuinely wants to support others in their own health journey through her years of studying and experience. In this interview we get nerdy and real about how to step away from a diet mentality and into a perspective of food for sustainability. We talk about the evidence of nutrition and the effect food has on the body and what really goes into looking at nutrition research from a critical lens. And my fav part of the interview where we discuss disordered eating and how WE ALL DO IT!! Its HUMAN NATURE! This is why I love science and nerding out, because often you read something and life all makes sense, then you can accept that “wow this is just a part of me being human”! Once we can accept being human, imperfect, and biologically wired a certain way we can move forward and make the changes with grace for ourselves. There is a ton of valuable information in this interview that you do not want to MISS OUT on! Many of us need more Pixie in our life and I am so grateful I have been able to share her with you on this series!CONNECT MORE WITH PIXIE@pixienutritionwww.pixieturnernutrition.com

Have you ever struggled with the question “what is life really about?” Of course you have. The very essence of being human is to question our existence. In this video I had the privilege of interviewing Erin Fall Haskell. She is a doctor of Divinity. Now you may not claim to be a spiritual individual, but I KNOW her message is applicable to YOU. When you watch this series I want you to put yourself in my shoes. Imagine she is asking you the following questions.•What are your triumphs?•What are your passions?•What is your skillset?Answering these questions will jumpstart you on the journey to discovering your life’s purpose.Erin is one of many people who understand that in order to uncover true joy in your life you must align with your life’s purpose. When we uncover the thing or things that we were made to do we stop living in the mindset that life is happening to us, or illness is happening to us. We begin to see that the struggle and pain and hard work has meaning. I can tell you that I believe my purpose is to be there for you to help you achieve your health goals. I believe that the suffering I have experienced in my own health journey gave me knowledge and tools I get to use to support you in your path to wellness. I am excited to walk with you in this health journey. And as you will discover health includes a LOT more than just eating well. It starts with understanding and developing your mind and spirit.

Many of us who take a lifestyle approach to health have a story about where that choice, passion, and all-consuming love for eating and learning about real food came from.  As a child Renae’s dad was diagnosed with Cancer and when he was, Renae and her family made a choice. They took to a more plant-based approach to eating and along with allopathic medicine her dad fully recovered. He is now in his 60’s vibrant as ever!Renae’s story has really evolved from there and has kept her inspired about food and healthy lifestyle, which eventually led her into medicine and now her final year in a lifestyle medicine fellowship.During the interview Renae and I get into reversing diabetes type II and how this is possible with a plant based lifestyle. We talk about the POWER PLATE and how we can take this simple image and turned it into a powerful way of eating to fuel our cells. Renae is so fun, intelligent, and interesting! You are going to love the conversation and learn so much by the end of it! CONNECT MORE WITH DR.RENAE THOMAS@drrenaethomasdrrenaethomas.comfacebook Linkedin

You are going to EAT this interview UP!Dr. Venus is on a powerful mission and his work is truly invaluable. Ever wonder how “facts” become “facts” or how something becomes “science-based”?Probably not, however we need to consider this. We GET to be conscious of the information we are believing and the “facts” we are following. Let’s use our human ability to critically think, to advocate, to challenge information, and let’s make an informed decision about our HEALTH, because our body depends on it. Not there yet? Finding it difficult to wrap your head around changing old habits?Dr. Venus and I discuss this. We discuss the psychology of our mind and how changing behaviours is intentional and can be difficult. The approach to changing our ways is different for everyone, but knowledge is power and if we know the information, we can DO ANYTHING! CONNECT MORE WITH DR. Interviewing Courtney was like chatting about boys over a glass of wine with my best friend, but in this case the chat was over zoom and about our love for food over a cup of tea.  Courtney grew up the opposite of me when it came to food. She was the friend’s house I would go to and see their cupboards and think they had no food because it was just nuts and seeds, apples, and some “stuff” in the fridge. I was the friend’s house she would go to and come home begging her parents to go out and buy what we had. Speaking of which, do you remember dunk-a-roos? Anyways, this interview inspires a different perspective on the food we put into our body, it’s about avoiding this scarcity mentality around food and enjoying the meals we make.  We chat about what an integrative nutritionist is and how it may benefit you to see one if you are considering a holistic way of managing disease. Courtney shares with us how she travels and keeps a busy life while still managing to eat real food and have a sustainably healthy life. Courtney is an authentic, full of life, passionate about health person and you are going to love her!  Find Courtney on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/realfoodology
