Description

Darryl and Connie (sometimes) revisit the '90s punk scene that they both grew up in. Darryl a Southern California punk kid aged 40 years and his sometimes co-host wife Connie a Southeast, mostly Florida lady of the punk scene talk about growing up in the scene that exploded all over the '90s in certain areas of America. They cover bands that set them on their journey and bands that they still hold close to their hearts. Punks not dead, we all just got older.

Its been a while since we aired anything new and it felt great to get back in the saddle. Unfortunately its another catch up show. we have been absent a while due to work schedules and health stuff to where we didn't have the time or energy to produce any new episodes. This episode we cover going to a show after 2 years, punk docs, and a few other things. We hope you enjoy it and we love all of our listeners who take time out to listen to our bullshit about things that may or may not matter.

Where'd They Go?

Where'd They Go?

2021-05-2437:47

This week we cover seeing or listening to bands that have member changes over the years. How the sound might have change, their stage presence, and anything else involving the idea of out with old in with the new.
This week we talk East Coast shows Vs. West Coast shows and scenes. we go into what we have both experienced in the punk scene living in Florida and living in the Southern California scene. we talk about the fans,  the quality of shows, quantity, and everything in between. It's not a complicated episode. Thanks to all who listen to our dumb shit.
We know its been a while since putting out a new episode but we've been quite busy. in the past two months we moved from San Diego, Ca to Orlando, Fl and it's been a "wild ride". Darryl has been working 50-60 hr. weeks Connie has been running around getting kids where they need to be. We lived in a hotel for a month now we are in week 3 of living in our new apartment and things are  finally getting settled. We will be publishing episodes more frequently from here on out, hopefully weekly. We are also possibly going to start reaching out to people to have guests to hear their stories in the coming future. Also huge thanks to our listener from Clichy, Ile de France whoever they are they have listened to every single episode it means the world to us that they have listened to all of them because we know this show is stupid we do it all on our own and it's just for fun. we don't make money from we only put money in and we just have a good time.

Q & A (Ourselves)

This episode was a Q & A with questions proposed by ourselves. No idea how it plays but we enjoyed it. some of it's deep some of it is silly but we enjoyed ourselves.
2020 F*CK YOU!

2020 F*CK YOU!

This episode we recap the good and bad of our personal 2020. We had some good come of it, some good times, some just okay, but we all came out alive in the end. There were some album releases but the only two I knew of was Anti-Flag's 20/20 Vision and The Suicide Machines - Revolution Spring, which is AMAZING both albums were perfect in my opinion. Not a whole lot going on this episode aside from talking about our year. I hope this episode finds you all well and healthy and safe. Take care of each other out there and Be More Kind. Yes I stole that from Frank Turner.
This episode is ALL over the place. Connie takes the wheel and keeps us on track because I go into many pot holes and long and deep. We discuss punk Christmas songs, Chanukah songs which are pretty amazing you'd be shocked(not in a bad way) . What the hell happened with Christmas this year what did y'all do for the holiday with all the nonsense going on? Reach out and let us know what changed for everyone's traditions. Instagram: AllAgesPodcastTwitter: AllAgesPodEmail: allagespod@Gmail.com
PILOT REBOOT!

PILOT REBOOT!

2020-11-1604:27

Our OG pilot was trash so we recorded another one. Full of high energy and feistiness. Darryl our host was shot out of a cannon tonight during recording, Connie was lovely as always. we talk about growing up in the punk scene in the '90s Darryl in California and Connie in Florida/the South East of America. Give it a taste.
Fun 'N' Games

Fun 'N' Games

THIS WEEK! We kinda played a game of song "drafting" while we were cleaning up dinner and we decided to log what we did. In the future we will try to figure out these shenanigans whilst recording. Honestly we had fun and we had a lot of fun doing it. It was kinda like a game show in a sense. I don't know I (Darryl) was shot out of a cannon in the last moments or maybe even the whole episode. The songs we "drafted" were Punk break-up songs in which when a song came on the radio we just yelled "mine" to claim it. Connie ran away with it by snatching up 8 while I only got 4. Don't Follow us anywhere!NOT INSTAGRAM @allagespodcastNOT TWITTER @allagespodAND DON'T FUCKING EMAIL US AND TELL US YOUR DUMB ASS IDEAS @ allagespod@gmail.com

This week we talk hardcore. We cover where it started and when kinda, and how Hardcore punk effects us. Is it an upper for our day or a downer. what types and what bands. It's almost like a sequel to our Mood Music episode which deals with mental health in a way but more on the day to day end. Follow us at Instagram: AllagespodTwitter: Allagespodor Email us and tell us we're shit at allagespod@gmail.com

This week we talk spooky season songs from punk bands. a lot of them that came from some lists we had never heard of. but we had fun talking about them anyways. We cover Rocket From The Crypt, AFI(maybe) I don't remember. and just Halloween stuff in general. It's been a while but we haven't been in the right head space for them lately we hope you enjoy it and thanks for listening wherever you are. Goes Hollywood

Goes Hollywood

2020-09-2852:05

This is probably our most structured episode yet. This week we talk about punk bands being utilized in soundtracks. Be it movies, videogames, TV whatever the case maybe. I made the list about a month ago to kinda give ourselves a footing into who, what, when and where. It's a fairly narrow sighted list because we focused on band we grew up loving and growing with. If anyone out there in the listening world can add to it let us know. we don't expect to hear from anyone because frankly we don't know if anyone truly gives a shit about these subjects and we're doing it for fun. Sooooo yeah, if you put up with listening to us week in and week out we truly appreciate it. There is a listener from a certain area that listens to every episode we put out that hasn't yet listened to last weeks episode but we appreciate theme sticking with it literally from the beginning. if they continue listening we're going to send them some stuff. The Ska episode might've turned them off because that's about the time they dropped off as well as others I feel. Anyways enjoy and have a great week.Twitter: @AllAgesPodInstagram: @allagespodEmail: allagespod@gmail.com
Oh Captain, My Captain

Oh Captain, My Captain

2020-09-2101:10:51

The Sneakrets out...kinda out. We had our first guest, our hockey captain! It is our longest episode yet so be patient/accepting it. It also may be a little loud because we have never had a guest never used Zoom nothing. We're noobs at a lot of this podcast stuff. We cover Cap's origins into where the punk scene/sound interjected itself into her life and when. we had an absolute blast going down somebody else's rabbit hole and interact with it because often times in this scene streams cross. We hope you enjoy the episode. Also hit us up with your answers to this weeks episode's question posed to us."If you could see any band live in concert tonight or right now, who would it be? Where would you like to see it?"We're always watching on:instagram: @allagespodTwitter: @allagespodEmail: allagespod@gmail.com
Pick It Up

Pick It Up

2020-09-1549:05

This week we talk ska. Wether you enjoyed the genre, tolerated it, or loathed it you knew it in the mid '90s into about 2000. we cover how we discovered the bands we knew and grew up with before the scene self imploded and what they meant to us. We love all our listeners out there whoever you are. You can follow us at:@allagespodcast on instagram where we post updates and other stupid shit@allagespodcast on twitterOr shoot us an email at allagespod@gmail.com with questions, suggestions or opinions about the show or scene we will shout you out.
This week we talk road trip music. What our personal choices in road trip music wether alone, on date trip or family trip. Everyone has a road trip sound track so we're throwing ours out there maybe ours line up with folks out there it probably doesn't. We also give a health update on my mom. Connie's more recent work road trip and her patients road trip sound track. Answer a few questions sent by some people. We talk up Five Iron Frenzy's Kickstarter to make a new album. Plus all kinds of other ramblings. we try to keep every episode coherent and if you have heard the rest of the episodes that NEVER happens. Thanks for listening to the people out there listening and keep it rad. DOPE!!!!!!
Mood Music

Mood Music

2020-08-1936:02

This week the Co-host derailed our planned show to talk about bands and songs that affect your mood. From angry to happy or not so good and how certain punk songs and bands will take us out of a bad mood or enhance a good mood. Eventually shifting mental health and the fact that the world is already a pretty shitty place especially this year, and how we need to treat the world like a mosh pit if you see someone fall help them out, pick'em up make sure they're okay. A little time and a good ear can go a long way. Also we have added a second microphone and monitor to capture Connies vocals better but alas I have to work the kinks out so she's not as boisterous as she normally would be. Thank you all for listening whoever is out there. Seeing the numbers of people listening(10?) and from all kinds of different places we really appreciate that you're taking the time out of your busy schedules or quarantine to listen to our nonsense.Songs Referenced in this episode:High Anxiety by The Suicide Machines off of their album Destruction By DefinitionPursuit of Liberty by Bad Cop/Bad Cop off of their 2020 album The Ride
Comps

Comps

2020-08-0443:11

This week we talk about Compilations. Some younger listeners, not that there are any don't know what a compilation is. It was basically this genius marketing tool used by punk labels to give exposure to their bands in the '90s. it might have happened earlier than we discovered them but we discuss our discovery of them. Those comps, as they were called back then, were Punk-o-rama(Epitaph), Survival Of The Fattest(Fat Wreck Chords, which always used fat in some kind of word play putting fat into a saying that already exists, and Go Ahead Punk Make My Day(Nitro Records). Those were the big three I(Darryl) discovered. When I say big three I mean the big three punk labels that were churning out great albums every year for a very long time and still are. Of course there were other labels putting out comps but these three were the ones in your face and on the front lines. We appreciate you all for listening because frankly we kinda suck at this but it has been something we have wanted to talk about for a long time because there isn't another podcast that we know of that's dedicated to reliving the glory days of '90s punk. If you have any topics you want us to discuss about the '90s punk scene or just to tell us we suck shoot us an email at AllAgesPod@gmail.com we will be launching a twitter account and instagram account this week to keep everyone who gives a shit up to date. thanks for listening and have a great week.

Just a quick run down of what the hell this podcast is about. Myself (Darryl Remers) and my wife (Connie Remers) discuss our lives in the punk scene, how we discovered it and how it was a game changer musically for us. It's called All Ages which isn't exactly what you think it means. It isn't intended for All Ages because there will most likely be foul language. The term All Ages refers to the '80s and 90's concerts for punk bands which is typically always referred to as "shows" were always all ages, compered to now shows are usually 18+ or 21+ with a few shows being all ages shows. These shows are usually family fun type shows where old punks can take their kids to them. These shows are usually The Aquabats, Me First and The Gimme Gimmes and a few others. The punk scene has been a huge part of our lives and we are here to discuss it and hopefully get more people talking about it no matter what era or sub genre of it. We hope listeners enjoy it. Excuse any back ground noise we have three hyper ass dogs that like to argue.
