In a drug delivery and conspiracy case, the court addresses discretionary sentencing claims and when you can be convicted of multiple counts of conspiracy. The Supreme Court addresses expert testimony as it applies to responses and behaviors of victims of sexual assault and the legality of a maximum life sentence to a juvenile offender convicted of second degree murder. The Supreme Court handed down several cases, including a case addressing signatures on mail in ballots, the requisite manner for determining if someone was intellectually disabled in regards to a death penalty case, as well as two cases addressing the independent source doctrine. In the Commonwealth Court this week, we have a case addressing the jurisdiction of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, Retirement Compensation and an evaluation of self-employment for purposes of unemployment compensation. The Superior Court in a number of criminal cases addressed constitutionality of SORNA and the implications on reputation, hearsay at a preliminary hearing and the inevitable discovery doctrine.
