The 16 year old has truly become a benchmark Islay dram from the Lagavulin distillery.If you're looking for a food pairing for this beauty, try intensely flavoured salty blue cheeses, which complement the intense, peat rich, sweet and salty character of this Lagavulin wonderfully.Nose: More like Lapsang Souchong tea than Lapsang Souchong! One of the smokiest noses from Islay. It's big, very, very concentrated, and redolent of iodine, sweet spices, good, mature Sherry and creamy vanilla. Stunning.Palate: Very thick and rich. A massive mouthful of malt and Sherry with good fruity sweetness, but also a wonderful sweetness. Today's tasting notes:Trent's Talisker Port Ruighe - from The Master of Malt.Nose: After a wave of initial sea spray, the nose becomes more complex with Crayola crayons, orange pith and a touch of white chocolate. Demerara and even sticking plaster emerge briefly along with plummy, umeshu notes.Palate: Initial characteristic Talisker brine once again but much sweeter than usual. Thick and mouth coating like the Storm with chilli and a little chocolate orange. Increasingly smoky - much smokier than the nose suggests.Finish: Milk chocolate becomes cocoa and oak with mocha notes and the faintest hint of that orange pith once again.Overall: Alongside the distillery style there are similarities with Talisker Storm with the thicker, oilier mouthfeel and wood smoke. Manuka honey, hot-buttered-toast and dried apricot develop.Finish: Medium length, spicy oak and a hint of peppermint on the tail.Overall: According to the Monkey Shoulder website: "Some say it tastes just like riding bareback on the wild moors of Scotland with a flame haired maiden on Christmas morning. Others agree it tastes like 007 wearing a tuxedo wetsuit." She currently is in private practice  offering a full range of services in obstetrics, gynecology, robotic surgery and primary care. A Fellow in Integrative Medicine at The University of Arizona School of Medicine, Dr Seeman is one of the first board certified ketogenic nutrition specialists in the country. She has a passion for fitness, preventative medicine and ketogenic therapy not only in her medical practice but in her own life. In this episode of the Corporate Musclecast, Dave & Trent discuss the "people first" approach of two very different, and very successful, companies - payments firm Gravity Payments, and online shoe retailer Zappos.Founded by two brothers in 2004, Gravity Payments shocked the world in 2015 by introducing a minimum salary of USD$70k for all employees, and reducing the CEO's own salary from $1.1m down to $70k. Recorded on the evening of August 27, the day of AfterPay’s annual results announcements, in this episode we take a 100,000 foot view of AfterPay’s $25 Billion success.We discuss the business model of AfterPay itself, and how it compares to traditional interest free lenders in the market, and the key events in their growth over the last three years. Dave and Trent spend some time discussing the more recent strategic actions of AfterPay as they expand globally, form new partnerships, manage their risk, and see their market value grow by over 900% during the covid-19 pandemic.A quick update between the recording and today, PayPal announced a rebranding of their PayPal credit product as “Pay-By-4”, to go head to head with AfterPay and the other competitors in the Buy Now Pay Later market – impacting on the 8% retraction in the AfterPay shareprice in the last 24 hours.
