Welcome to 2022! Jessi and Stew have been traveling like crazy and that mixed in with the holiday's made a podcast break necessary. But we are back and better than ever, baby! In this episode we talk about our favorite memories from 2021 and manifest our goals for the new year. Don't forget that new episodes come every Tuesday! Follow us on Instagram and tell us your New Years resolutions! It's a break, not a break-up! Jessi goes solo in this season finale and is answering all of your burning questions. From how she handles things in her salon to how she navigates relationships. Grab your must-have drink and then settle in as Dr. Jessi dishes out the therapy you didn't know you needed!
We've spilled the beans on all y'all's horror stories in the salon and we thought it was high time to (and holiday-appropriate) do an episode highlighting your hair school horror stories! From men who get close to a happy ending to the one time a client pooped in the chair, we're sharing all of your's (and our) most awful stories. We hope you enjoy this Halloween episode!
Long before the JZ Styles Hair Extension line existed, the people and inspiration behind the names were making a big impression on Jessi. We're taking you through all 29 colors and telling you about the people and dogs behind the names!
We're back with stylist and social media ninja, Jamie Dana! She is a hairstylist turned business owner and helps other stylists build a business and life they love using Instagram. She's kind of a big deal and has grown her brand through Youtube, Instagram, and online courses. She's dropping her knowledge here and letting us in on all her secrets to growing a thriving brand online!
It's October, which is almost Halloween, and that means it's basically Christmas - and we are cruising through our Taylor discography! We're talking about Speak Now, Taylor's 3rd album and one she wrote entirely by herself. We all know Taylor is in the middle of re-recording her albums and releasing them in their original intended glory (RED is dropping in November) but for some reason, Speak Now is getting skipped over. (1989 will be next). However, this album was one of her most pivotal and one that meant something different to each one of us. Listen along as we discuss the album notes, songs (and words) to live by, and why Speak Now is an album that will forever go down as our favorite.

Life Advice

We may not be experts at everything but we're here to give you our opinions (and hopefully some sound life advice) regarding all of your biggest life questions! Tune in and hopefully, you'll snag a little wisdom along the way!
Astrology

Astrology

2021-09-2050:07

When someone asks you "What's your sign?" it's more than likely they're asking you to share your sun sign, which indicates where the sun was located when you were born. And for a lot of us, that's as much as we know about astrology. So today we're giving you a crash course in all your personalities with our friend Bailee Pili @baileepili. The realm of astrology can appear vast and daunting. Luckily, there's an entry point to be found for even the greenest beginner. So buckle up, call your mom to find out what time you were born, and then get close because we're about to explain why you are the way you are - and if everything you manifest today was written in the stars!
The Assistant

The Assistant

2021-09-1447:58

Easily our most exhaustive topic, assisting is the reality of our day-to-day in the salon. It's where Stew started and it's really where a hair stylist's journey begins. They are your right hand - they style, wash, dry, ready supplies we're going to use on a client - and their responsibilities grow as their talent and skillset increase. We're sharing what our assistants do, the behind-the-scenes of our very well-known assistant program, and everything you need to know about hiring or becoming an assistant.
As stylists, we all have different training, diverse client bases, and encounter so many things in the salon on a day-to-day basis. But lately, we've been talking about the things we wish our clients knew that would make our jobs as hair stylists a little easier. Asking us to bend the rules or just understanding how much energy we put into each client would go a long way. Stew and Jessi each picked the 3 things they wish their clients knew before sitting down in their chair!
We're back with one of our favorite regulars, Michelle! Michelle aka Daddy Styles is talking to us today about investing. Having money or keeping a hold of your money is one thing but having your money work for you is a whole other ball game. Michelle breaks down the traditional investment vehicles most people know: 401K, Roth IRA, and so many more. He shows us that as money holders, we have options. And as entrepreneurs, the best time to put our money to work for us is now. And believe it or not, he may have gotten Stew to give up store-bought coffee and it just might make him a millionaire! This is an episode you're not gonna want to miss.
We asked our audience to send in their own salon horror stories and you guys DELIVERED! From chemical haircuts to clients who get physical when things don't go their way, our listeners have been put through the wringer. You're all definitely going to heaven and probably got extra bonus points for dealing with the coworker from hell. And above all, know you're not alone! This business is rough and there is a ton of pressure, but that's because it's creating a bunch of diamonds. So sit back, get comfy, and listen as hairstylists across the U.S. share tales of their own personal hells.
Hair school is a special time in every stylist's life but it can be scary that first day you're on your own and even scarier when you don't feel fully equipped to take on the professional hairdresser world! We imagine that this is a pretty standard issue whether you went to hair school or business school. Today we sit down with fellow stylist Kaylee and talk about the 5 things we wish we would have learned in hair school!
