Claire Shutes, Julian Fraser, and I had a wonderful conversation about our personal experiences with disability, how our understanding of the Three Principles helped us to see that our essential nature is not our physicality,  and so much more.Claire is a Master Transformative Coach and Three Principles Practitioner. COVID-19’s effect on the world caused schools and educators to have to make lots of changes. Suddenly we had to wear face masks, keep ourselves socially distanced, shift to virtual classrooms, and so many more changes. The school landscape looked quite different. How do we stay connected with our students was a frequent question and topic of conversation for many educators. That inspired me to interview John Young to explore connection as educators with a grounding in the inside-out nature of life.John grew up and went to college in Ireland, where he studied engineering. After moving to the US, John worked in different businesses before deciding to make a career change into education. Over 10 years ago he found his way into his first classroom as a substitute teacher and has never looked back. John is the founder of Clear Calm Living, a platform dedicated to supporting heart-centered professionals - those who do the emotional work that uplifts others, by helping them understand how they can bring more joy back into their lives. I really enjoy talking with John because he has a unique ability to understand and explain how the mind works. In our conversation for this episode, we talked, as educators about our experiences teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic and how understanding how our human experience is created from the inside-out helped us with our connection with our students.Even though John and I talked about connection through the lens of our experiences as teachers, this episode is for everyone, no matter your background or occupation. The essence of connection is universal. It’s only our felt experience of connection that comes and goes. Sometimes we just have so many thoughts that block us from feeling connected, but our connection with each other is always there. You can find out more about John and his work at his website, clearcalmliving.com.
My work from life coaching, teaching, to podcasting is based on sharing about the universal principles of Mind, Thought, and Consciousness. Together they are known as the Three Principles, and they explain how life works for us as human beings and how we experience life from the inside-out. My guest for this episode is Dr. Mark Howard, and we talked about his experiences with the Three Principles, how understanding them has impacted his life, and how seeing them helps us experience more of our innate happiness and well-being.  Dr. Howard is the founder of the Three Principles Institute in Belmont, California. He is recognized as one of the pioneers who first brought the three principles into the field of psychology. Since 1982, Dr. Howard has been teaching private clients, families, and business professionals. He is now devoting his time to mentoring and supporting anyone who wishes to share the Principles with love, clarity, and impact. You can connect with Dr. Howard, find out more about his work, and check out his monthly teleseminars at his website, drmarkhoward.com.
Sometimes no matter how good our plans are, or how much we want to follow them, life shows us the importance of being flexible and willing to change paths.  Which means, sometimes we have to say no to some of our plans.  In this episode I share about (1) struggling with saying no to creating more podcast episodes so I could add full-time teaching, in the COVID-19 pandemic. to my already full plate and (2) how seeing the three principles of Mind, Thought, and Consciousness helped me with that change. My guest for this episode is, Anke Herrmann, business coach, online tech mentor, podcast host, and author of Taming the Tech Monster.  We talked about her experiences with saying no and changing paths.  In 2004 she quit her software developer job in the UK to start her own sewing business in Spain.  Today she offers her unique mix of compassionate coach, patient teacher, free-spirited creative mind and experienced software developer, to help professional coaches with a big vision create tech systems that offer headspace and the capacity to accelerate business growth. You can find out more about Anke at her website, ankeherrmann.com and on Instagram @sewflamenco..
In this episode, I talked with Barbara Patterson in July 2020 about racism in the United States and her experience with become more aware and challenging it.Barbara is the owner of a global coaching and consulting company helping solopreneurs, entrepreneurs, & leaders access more clarity, creativity, have greater impact, and achieve higher levels of fulfillment in work and life.  She is the founder of Beyond Limits in Business, a global platform and community designed to point people to the source of human potential that resides within us all and is experienced via our minds. Since this is a conversation based podcast, I asked my awesome family, my husband, Shaka, and our children, Zoya, Hanna, Joza, and Ina, to interview me for this first episode.  In full disclosure, I wrote the questions for them to chose from, but I waited until recording our conversations to reflect and answer the questions.I want to thank YUNOME aka Pete Griffiths from The Mind Takeaway Podcast for the awesome music. You can find more of his music at https://soundcloud.com/themindtakeaway.
