S5, EP 161 The whole gang finally dive into and share about their individual P2P choices since launching and building their voice over & on-camera careers.  They discuss P2P platforms  they're still going strong on since launching.  Which ones they decided to let go of for different reasons.  Then other P2P platforms they added into the mix to create more auditions to discover.  Also  they touch on adding Agents and Production rosters to help boost their access to auditions and increase their chances to book.    Here we share real parts of our creative journeys,  as we navigate our own individual voice over and on-camera careers.  None of us are coaches but we do love that in sharing  our creative chaos, we will all learn, grow and expand to become the best versions of ourselves in the creative realm with the intention that in sharing our stories we can inspire others along the way too. Support the showThis is a shareable podcast, with a group of creatives, documenting their creative voice over & on-camera journeys to inspire all of us as we navigate our own paths! This is a From the Vault episode from before our Pod merger! Here we touch on different choices about our booths as we were all closer to the beginning of launching and getting our individual VO careers off the ground.  This is definitely a throwback episode, short and sweet, about us chatting and sharing, our booth goals and a tiny bit of internet chaos…Of course we get interrupted due to technical issues...Jozlyn froze  while intently listening to Angela's booth drama & moving plans.  It's Chaos! So we’ll pick back up on where we are at now, with our current booth drama and goals soon...Stay tuned! *Booth details at the time we recorded this episode - *Jozlyn's referring to her Audiomute blanket, T-Pins, & the fact that she had her booth in multiple closets throughout her house, in order to find the perfect space and accommodate her families needs as well!*Angela was getting ready for a BIG move from Las Vegas back to Colorado.*Gaby was getting her home booth up and running, while adjusting her space.*Lloyd was still training and hadn't built his booth space yet. Support the showThis is a shareable podcast, with a group of creatives, documenting their creative voice over & on-camera journeys to inspire all of us as we navigate our own paths! This week the whole gang's here! Our guest John McClain joins us to chat production, voiceover, and his start into the creative realm.  John McClain is the founder, owner and lead sound designer/mixer at Monster Sound & Picture in Las Vegas, Nevada. John's professional experience ranges from award winning sound design for companies like Chevrolet, Dodge, Intel and MGM Resorts to a Grammy nomination in 2000 and a Grammy win in 2001 for his work with the late, great George Carlin. His work as a voice talent, composer, sound designer and mixer brought him to the small screen in 2010 with the Comedy Central short series Shmitty, Mcfunkle and Stump. We had such a great conversation with John, it went from Dad jokes, to Dungeons & Dragons, to music and production. Also, there are two rules John believes we can all benefit from! Want to learn what those are? Astoria Redhead aka Mandy Fisher joins us! As a child actor, Mandy was invested in the theater and film scene in Atlanta, Georgia. At the time, there were only a handful of girls her age doing voiceover.  One day while at school, her mom pulled her out of class and took her to the studio where she was told she was going to be recording a national radio commercial. She had never done anything like this before.  After the initial nerves, she let loose and just had fun being herself. That set off a career trajectory that she never anticipated. And she never looked back. Since then she has worked with companies like Audible, Kohls, Macy's, Disney, SquareSpace, QuikTrip, Crayola, WholeFoods and many more. In addition, she also coaches people pursuing their Voice Over dreams and has started her own podcast, Disaster Human. Her passion for voiceover and genuine love of helping people inspire her to work with actors of all stages of their career. With a theater background, she brings her training to guide copy analysis and character creation. As an industry vet of 15 years, she has witnessed the changes and understands the ebbs and flows of the business. Mandy created her own voice over business from the ground up and has a successful and replicable model to help actors build their own successful businesses. All of this adds up to a coach who can provide audition and career advice while helping actors become the best they can be! She truly has so many amazing tips, you don't want to miss it!Support the showThis is a shareable podcast, with a group of creatives, documenting their creative voice over & on-camera journeys to inspire all of us as we navigate our own paths! From the vault originally released on 10/13/2022. Jozlyn is juggling many people and too many things! Frankie and Jozlyn talk about auditing an online acting class they are planning to take. Angela finally got home and has yet to unpack and is figuring her life out. Gaby joins us from her phone and then that gets us on a whole conversation about phones. Angela shares her plans to get her booth going in her new home.  We discuss VO websites, Jozlyn worked with a website developer and talks about the struggles that come along with that, like how difficult it can be to communicate your ideas to someone else. Then Gaby shares the difficulty of taking on the task of creating her own website and producing the content she envisions for the website. Jozlyn talks about the process of getting her website created, from photography to fonts to design, she experienced some hiccups but ultimately was able to get it done. Angela had a hard time finding her tagline. Jozlyn had a tagline but forgot about the logo so she created it after the website was completed. We then discuss about what parts of your demo to put on your website and how to do it. How do we find our essence? Jozlyn shares what influences she pulled from to find her essence. All of this and so much more! Enjoy!"Developing your website is almost like planning a wedding" - JozlynUpdates as of 12/6/2023:Jozlyn has added a new clients section, additional voice samples, rebranded with Celia Seigal, added a page for her son who is booking voice actor and budding on-camera actor. Jozlyn and Gaby share their chaos and our resident world traveller (Gaby) shares some packing tips. They also chat about the struggles of being "un-shortlisted" and how that affects your confidence as a VO artist. They are then joined by Milena Tinoco to share about her journey in the Creative Realm.  Milena is a Colombian-American Bilingual Voice Over Talent with over 10 years of experience. She has voiced a wide variety of genres including: TV and radio commercials, corporate narration, voice of god (event announcer), medical narration, concert tour promos, e-learning, explainer videos, IVR , retail overhead announcements, and PSAs. They chat about how Milena got started on-camera doing commercials and hosting gigs and then transitioned into VO without knowing too much about the business or community. This is an illuminating conversation into VO from the perspective of a Bilingual VO artist who took a very different approach. Support the showThis is a shareable podcast, with a group of creatives, documenting their creative voice over & on-camera journeys to inspire all of us as we navigate our own paths! On this very special episode of our podcast, we chat with Jacob Zalewski who is the Founder/President & CEO of the One Step Closer Foundation (1SCF) and also Gaby's friend.  The 1SCF is a non-profit, charitable organization whose main goal is to improve the lives of those who suffer from cerebral palsy along with various disabilities. The 1SCF, through multiple fundraising efforts, supports existing groups, individuals, and research for those already coping with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and other disabilities. The 1SCF strives to promote awareness and understanding of the disease through educational programs, support groups and access to previously unknown research. The 1SCF will also direct funds to researchers seeking for medical advancements in treating and diagnosing CP. Jozlyn tries to say a big word, Lloyd shares his thoughts about a previous astrology/the moon conversation after he had some time to ponder. Jozlyn had an Ah-ha! moment during a voiceover training class while reading real scripts for a coach and Lloyd shares a bit more about his start in Improv comedy. Troy is the host of VO Life Podcast and It's Another VO Podcast.  Troy shares with us his perspective on the Voice Over business and how it has shifted in the last 3-4 years. This is something that we have had a feeling about for a while now but it is interesting to hear someone else's take.  It is tougher now to get into this industry as a Creative and the competition is steep.  We talk about different P2P platforms, Marketing, Training and how to find the best version of YOU in the voice over creative realm!Support the showThis is a shareable podcast, with a group of creatives, documenting their creative voice over & on-camera journeys to inspire all of us as we navigate our own paths! Straight from the vault, into your ears...Failure can be fun!  We all experience failure along our creative paths, but perspective is key.  Joz takes an Improv class and talks about her experience. We talk about the concept of "Failure is fun" and how we can incorporate it into our lives as we pursue our artistic endeavors. Life is hard as it is, so don't be too hard on yourself, allow yourself to fail because there are lessons in those failures. Gaby shares a bit about her experiences with failure and how she is changing her mindset. Lloyd shares the frustration of being told he was "close" to being ready to record his demo when he was expecting a yes and how an unexpected comment from a coach helped him.
