Andra is one of our violinists and she was born in Romania. It's fascinating to hear how - despite many struggles early on in her musical education - Andra worked through the hardships and has become a successful musician.
Steve's joined by one of Kaleidoscope Orchestra's violinists - Dee Dee Roberts. Dee Dee is a teacher and has played a key role in developing online education for UK students during the pandemic. Dee Dee speaks about how she uses music to teach a broad range of subjects, and how the skills learned through music can be utilised in all aspects of education. Also discussed - how to allow creativity to happen and how setting some structure and routine can enable creators to create even when they're not feeling the "inspiration."
Steve and Rhiannon are joined by Mark Harrison, one of the trumpet players in Kaleidoscope Orchestra. Mark currently lives in Norway with his wife Rhiannon (trombone player in the orchestra.) In this episode Mark speaks about his experiences growing up around brass music and how he teaches musicians through the Brass Band medium. Steve, Rhiannon and Mark also discuss the significance of exposure to music at an early age and the importance of music in general education.
