Card 3: The Empress

2024-03-2853:33

No sacred feminine. No love and light. No fertility. This is a re-examination of the Empress, looking at the complexities of her as an embodiment of a true Earth Mother / Mother Earth archetype. This episode explores the symbolism in tarot depictions, looks at the nuance in her invitations, and the shadow aspects to be mindful of in working with her. The Empress works with the cycles of life and death, and is a warrior for the rights of all. Not demure or submissive, she knows the power of boundaries, of rest, and of action. She channels the dark into the light with alignment, holding the wisdom and resources to create beauty amidst the brutality. The main themes we discuss in this episode are:How the Empress works with the cycles of life and deathLeans into the ugliness of this world for changeHow she is a warrior queen, warrior archetype, and a fighter for the marginalizedHow she appears in a movieCard and imagery depictionsLinks:New Moon RitualTarot and Store OptionsThe Empress BlogWhat makes the cow sacred to HindusBackground track is Nordic Light by Jamie NorwoodTimestamps:Opening to episode 00:00:00Housekeeping and Events 00:02:55How the Empress lily-pads from the High Priestess 00:06:35The Empress NOT as fertility or sacred feminine 00:08:22The Empress in connection to death 00:11:40Card depictions 00:14:30How the Empress invites you to lean into the ugliness of the world 00:20:32The Empress as a warrior queen, archetype, or energy 00:26:11Card depictions 00:29:34Movie depiction 00:35:46Card depictions + Shadow aspects 00:39:44End of episodeSupport the showThank you so much listening! Your rage is divine. You have a right to your rage. Your rage can change the world.I first shared this spell on TikTok after the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, but I figured it was high time to pull this spell out, update it, and talk about it here on the podcast. In this episode we discuss:what a rage spell is, and why it's important how it's different than a curse / hexthe inspiration for the spell and thoughts behind sacred ragethe spell itself, the tools I used, and final thoughts. This spell is available and free for you to modify and use in your own practice. Following the voted majority of a nature-based episode, I kept coming back to this idea of cocooning and going within, especially in this time. Winter naturally leads to cocooning, incubating, and insulating. Although it is often talked about in a much more consumer or home-decor focus today, winter invites a retreat into the internal and the darkness. At the same time, winter allows the process of transformation to occur by initiating the death-cycles, the breakdowns, and the barrenness. In this episode, we discuss the beautiful life-cycle of the butterfly, the process of self-metamorphosis, the journey of spiritual migration, and the unseen magick in the chrysalis. Card 1: The Magician

We are following the continuing series, and narrative, of the tarot by looking at each card. We started with the Fool, and now we move on to the Magician. This is one of my favorite cards for so many reasons, all of which we get into in the episode. In this episode, the main themes we discuss are:How the Magician starts the journey of moving through the three rows of the Major Arcana (the Creations / Destruction / Evolution rows). Once we end with the World, we cycle through the Fool, and the journey begins again. The significance of the numerology of 1Awareness of the magick within the self, bridged with the magick of the worldChanneling the wild and the enlightened to manifestConscious creation, conscious connectionSymbolism in different depictions of the MagicianHow an old cartoon has one of the most profound depictions of the Magician (what is your guess?)Timestamps:00:00:48 Beginning of episode00:05:10 Opening, witnessing, and holding what is happening in the world right00:09:05 Housekeeping and events00:14:13 The Three Rows of the Majors00:16:45 Awakening to the magick with the Magician00:21:45 Song: Above as Below by Blood Red Sun 00:25:26 Channeling the Wild Spectrum00:30:00 Numerology of 100:36:50 Conscious Creation, Conscious Connection00:39:20 Symbolism in the Magician 00:40:27 Song: Man of the World by Roof 01:02:54 End of episodeLinks:My linksMy Five Favorite Tarot Cards episodeTarot Key Tarot Wisdom: Spiritual Teachings and Deeper Meanings by Rachel Pollack All-Seeing Eye pdfLabyrinth Symbolism Background track is Sense of Touch by Helmut SchenkerSupport the showThank you so much listening! Hello dear listener. Thank you for tuning into the October forecast. This episode is all about leading from your heart's truth with deep invitations from the 3 of Cups and the Bear and Cedar (Leadership). We discuss what it feels like to honestly show up with a brave and courageous heart, and how that presence initiates the growth, expansion, and evolution that come with the 3s.Main themes:why the 3 of Cups doesn't speak to social gathering, sisterhoods, fraternities, or festivitiesbravery in honesty- letting the emotions you feel be present, and how a tarot card cannot immediately speak to an emotion coming in (this last piece was something I learned on Lindsay Mack's podcast Tarot for the Wild Soul)the alchemy of heart: sacred and mundane mergings give rise to our creative expanse and evolutiontaking ownership and fulfilling the role of the power and noble sovereigntaking up space as a ritual Links and upcoming events:Click here to work with me, get the newsletter, read the blog, and more.Intuitively Working with the Minors of the Tarot at the Terrorium ShopCome celebrate the 1 year anniversary of Sojourn BookstoreSetting intentions: New Moon Ritual at Sojourn BookstoreLinks for research and show informationThe Lion spirit animal : Symbolism and meaningCorona Borealis Constellation MeaningCorona BorealisThe Mystical Dream Tarot deck The Woodland Wardens deck The Wild Unknown Alchemy deck (not used in the forecast, but I reference the meaning of alchemy from the guidebook in relation to the 3 of Cups)Music LinksSilver by Candelion is the background soundtrackHomeless Soul by Fleurs Douces Tell Me Something New by Wellmess ft. Hello there, I started recording this on September 26th, and while I sat all morning thinking about what I wanted to discuss, I realized that I just wanted to read some more poetry. In this episode, I will be reading poetry from Edgar Allen Poe, Sylvia Plath, Priscilla Becker, and finishing with my own poem Temperance, as it was the third monthly card for September. I have also been wanting to include more songs in my podcast, not just the background track. Let me know if you like this format, including the music, or sharing some of my favorite poetry with you. Hello my dears, it is time for the monthly forecast for September. This month the cards that we are working with are the 8 of Swords reversed and the Goat and Willow (Overcoming Obstacles). You all know I am passionate about bringing more intuitive narratives to the cards, ones that align with my own exploration. I believe the 8 of Swords invites in a brave willingness to find the blend between the liminal, mysterious, and dark parts of our knowing with the logical, reasoned, and rational parts. I believe the 8 of Swords invites us to find an internal compass of truth and use that as a direction forward, even when it is shrouded, felt but not seen, so to speak. In this episode the main themes that we discuss are:Follow an inner compass of truth to overcome changing perspectives. Finding deeper wisdoms - a self-made foundation.Deeper understandings and perceptions come through being wrong, confronting things in new ways, or releasing the ego- radical shift in cultivating awareness.Viewing into the depths to see and understand the whole truthUncovering falsehoods and finding wisdom through a willingness that often juts up to fears, insecurities, or hardshipsWe also discuss narratives of finding softness, vulnerability, using reversals as a reminder of internal work, and the truth of healing journeys. Let me know your thoughts or comments about this forecast. Card 0: The Fool

Card 0: The Fool

2023-08-3152:25

In this episode, the narrative is going back to the beginning, the end, the cyclic narrative of the Fool. The Fool as card 0 marks the constant shift and return to self, a homecoming on a grand scale. It is not a card that speaks to grand adventure, but rather that YOU are the adventure, the divine magick arriving at thresholds of self into other, self into self, and other into you. In this episode, the main themes that we talk about are:how the Fool does not speak to an external adventure, but rather how you are the adventurehow the Fool is not simply naïve or ignorant, and what it means to tap into the magick of youthful beliefthe invitations of the Fool are ones of :coming into wholeness of self, into complete presenceletting that wholeness allow you to arrive at the apex of manifestationthe threshold of that apex opens you to yourself and therefore, the world with trust  the role of the Fool as holy fool, court jester, creator of change, and equal parts Creator and DestroyerI hope that through this narrative, you can come home to the beautiful teachings of the Fool and find the expansive magick within you. The forecast for June has cards that connect to opposite ends of the spectrum, but are equal and go hand-in-hand. The tarot card for the month is the Dreamer (Page) of Cups reversed. This is the card that asks you to bring dreams into reality with an open heart. This card asks for intuition to come in without judgment, and for you to embrace the totality of life with love and in connection to your inner child. The oracle card for the month is the Squirrel and Chestnut with the meaning of PREPARATION. This is like the adult end of the spectrum. There are times where preparation comes first. Where the to-do's, tasks, and responsibilities cannot wait because they provide protection, security, and safety. The main themes for this month are:Embodying joy, play, optimism, wonderReceiving without judgementActing and taking up space without knowing all the details, things, or factCome back to these things, your inner child withinCreating stability, taking up space, and bringing your emotional dreams into beingtaking actionable steps to root dreams into realityworking hard for what you want and needLet me know your thoughts on this forecast!Links:MY LINKSDjed PillarsThe Sacred Symbol of the Djed Pillar22 Ways to Connect to Your Inner ChildArtist for The Mystical Dream Tarot is Tom Duxbury Background track is Purple Lilies by Sum WaveSupport the showThank you so much listening!
