Every now and then, we all need to make changes. Change the place, position, or direction of many things. The year 2020 has been a challenging year, but I’m still grateful. I also have faith that God has a bigger plan. In the meantime, let go of what’s draining, what’s toxic, and what has no value in your life. Make a shift and trust the process.

Her Name Is Alani

This week my conversation is with Alani. At a young age, she knew she was a girl trapped in a boy's body. Feeling confused and alone, at times living a double life. Now a transgender woman, living in her authenticity but with struggles along the way. Listen as she takes us on her journey from her transition to the woman she is today.
It's all so confusing. What am I feeling? Is it anxiety, depression, mental issues? I went through a dark place and had no idea what was happening to me. This week I have a conversation with Psychiatrist, Dr. Toni Johnson Liggins. She is passionate about mental health and helps us understand the struggles many go through daily. Depression, grief, anxiety, and stress has increased through this pandemic. She shares great information and tips on what we can do to navigate through life better and live in this "new normal".
This week the conversation is open, honest, and real. My good friends share their stories of living in this space as gay men. We talk about them knowing who they were meant to be at a young age and living their truth in who they are today. Misconceptions and untruths are just a part of their everyday world. A world that is no different except for who they choose to love.
The conversation continues with one of my girls, as she shares her story about growing up as a young black girl, living today as a black woman, and now raising a teenage daughter.  She talks about her insecurities, struggles, and crazy experiences along the way. So listen up while she opens up, as the "first conversation" continues.

This week, I chat with my girls about walking as a black woman in this world today. We talk about hair, racism, colorism, and other topics thrown in along the way. Different perspectives, opinions, and experiences. No filters, just real life stuff that may matter to some and others not so much. Starting the conversation is key, but finding solutions is the ultimate goal.    Instacart - Groceries delivered in as little as 1 hour.
