Description

The Black Creator Connection Podcast is a show for creative and ambitious black artists and black artist advocates. Each episode explores the journey, the triumphs, the pain points, the why's and the how's of what it means to be a black creator in this modern day. Hosted by writer, performer and life coach for creatives, Lauren Clark, she also leaves you with practical guidance around creative living, spiritual empowerment and radical self acceptance so that others may more easily chart out their own creative process in the most unapologetic, transformative and liberating way, which everyone has a right to experience.

Hey fam! This week's featured guest is Dr. Abena Berry!!! A licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Illinois. She currently works in private practice at the Gersten Center for Behavioral Health, but has worked in a variety of other clinical settings as well. She returns for her 2nd BCC podcast appearance (episode 23 if you’d like to hear the 1st interview) and headsup, this episode was originally recorded at the end of 2022, BUT soooo much of this conversation is TIMELESS and as always, GEMS were dropped that I know will be valuable to the inspired black artist/advocate IN NEED!  Take a listen to the show, then check out some of Lakesha’s former and current work! Hey BCC fam! This week’s featured podcast guest is the one and only Willonius Hatcher! Willonius and I became "pandemic pals" in 2020 after our paths crossed in an online writing space for creators of color. We quickly connected over being insanely prolific (jk), but Will is a writer, comedian, author, former TEDx speaker, content creator, musician, and… just an all around badass, do-er, and self care/spirituality FREAK like me! So, I wanted to have a chat with him to uncover his origin story and that is exactly what I did! Take a listen to the ep then check out some of Will’s work: Follow Willonius on IG Listen to “Honestly, Nevermind The Musical” Listen to “The Young and the Thirsty” More of Willionius’s Music   And as always, thank you so much for supporting the black creator connection podcast and community if you are or plan to! :)  To work with me 1 on 1 or join my group coaching program "simplify and serve," go to my website and join my email list for more info! xoxo Lauren Hosted on Acast. Hey fam! This week’s featured podcast guest is my friend, fellow writer and peer mentor, Raquel Russell! We met only a few years ago, but it feels like we’ve been connected forEVERrrr. Raquel is a scholar, published writer, blogger and podcaster. She helps me in so many ways and it appears the feeling is mutual so I really wanted to take this chance to catch up with her and DIG for more of her origin story! I was so pleasantly surprised to learn more about this amazing woman! Be sure to check out her podcast, Talking Stories, dedicated to highlighting stories that impact lives and inspire change!  In this episode, we explore a wide range of topics such as growing up all over Canada, parents, pastors, creatives, gathering your tools, celebrating new beginnings and nurturing community and relationships, and more! Originally recorded in 2022, this episode also stands as an invitation to continue to examine lessons learned in the previous year(s) only as a means to enhance the NOW, which is the only thing you can ever really experience anyway. So consider yourself INVITED ;) I’ll forever love this lady and this conversation. I hope you find something of value in this loose and rather carefree chat. It's nice to have that from time to time ya know!? Anywho... Today’s episode is all about what it means to ask QUALITY QUESTIONS! I share a little about my journey with one of life’s hardest questions, then I ask a few more that were once asked to me in a time of great duress and creative yearning. You might want to take notes or grab a snack and listen because it's also storytime! We journey through my life as a little kid becoming aware of herself, how I came to accept myself, my creative gifts and we also learn that holding recess back from a child does NOT go unforgotten. Anyway, hope you enjoy! :) Also, for those of you interested in working with me in a 1 on 1 coaching capacity, I’m running a 3 day MLK day promotion starting NOW! 2 one hour sessions for $111 TOTAL.
