This episode is a rare and honest window into the world of international leadership. Eva Lundahl, an international HR leader specialising in talent acquisition, joins me for an initial conversation about her career journey, achievements, her motivation and the challenges along the way as well as her approach to managing team members and helping them to achieve their potential and their place in the team.   In the second half, she talks to the current challenges in 2022/3: recruitment and retention in international organisations and the need to adjust to the cultural shift we're seeing after COVID and communicate the wider benefits to joining a company to the market.  Eva is both visionary and pragmatic: tune in to be inspired and get her precious advice! About Eva:Eva is a Swedish national with 25+ years of experience in HR across multiple industries such as pharma biotech, IT/Telecom, Outsourcing/Consulting Services, Mining, Automotive and most recently in the Energy Sector at GE Renewables. Throughout her career she has been a variety of roles, although mainly in HR with a specialization in Recruitment, she’s also managed the change connected to large HR & TA system implementations such as SAP, Taleo, Cornerstone & WD. She’s built and managed recruitment teams and models varying from in-house, outsourced, off-shored and hybrid in large multi-national organisations both regionally & globally. Her motivation lies in being able to leverage her experience and help organisations build and adapt their TA models to the needs and context of the business. There is no one best model, but a multitude of variations to be considered to support business growth. Enabling her team to have access to the right number and level of resources, tools & slick processes are elements she looks at when considering the set-up. Supporting her team, helping them to develop and identify their strengths and weaknesses to complement each other on their journey is what keeps her going.Connect with Eva on LinkedInIf you'd like to find out more about coaching for yourself or for your organisation, contact us to arrange a call at ann@anncollinscoaching.com or click here.We love reviews and hearing your feed back, so please go to Apple Podcasts to rate, review, subscribe and share this podcast! To find out more:website: www.anncollinscoaching.comFollow Ann:LinkedIn: annridleycollinsInstagram: @anncollinscoachYouTube: Ann Collins Coaching
Coaching can feel like a black box!  Why does it work?  How can asking questions help someone change the way they think and behave?  Exploring the neuroscience behind transformation and effectiveness is important not only for coaches, but also for leaders who are embarking on coaching to make the most of a coaching programme and even take it further for themselves. My guest today is the leader of the Advanced Diploma that I'm studying right now: Ann Betz.   Ann explains why she was drawn to neuroscience and how she has  used it to take her coaching to a different level, understanding what we need to be truly effective and creative: an appropriate amount of stimulation, an ability to regulate emotions and to allow our brains to function with flexibility and adaptability by understanding the different components of the brain.  The best leaders are those who  use those parts of their brains to be flexible to communicate the big picture with empathy and to provide detail and structure: to zoom in and out, using both sides of the brain effectively to communicate well.   References: Daniel Siegel, Mindsight: The Science of Personal Transformation 2011About Ann Betz:Ann Betz, CPCC, PCC, MNTC, is the co-founder of BEabove Leadership and an international speaker and trainer on the intersection of neuroscience, coaching and human transformation.  In 2011, Ann studied neuroscience at the graduate level, and using this fascinating research, in 2012 co-developed (and is senior leader for) BEabove Leadership’s popular training program for advanced coaches: Neuroscience, Consciousness and Transformational Coaching. This program has been offered in-person worldwide and is now available in an in-depth virtual format. Ann was a faculty member and served as the neuroscience consultant to The Coaches Training Institute (CTI) for many years. She provides neuroscience, leadership and coaching consulting to many other corporations and non-profits, including the International Coach Federation.  A certified professional coach for 20 years, Ann is the author of a groundbreaking white paper on brain research and coaching. She contributes to Choice Magazine, Coaching at Work, Coaching World, the ICF and CTI’s blogs, and other coaching and HR publications.Ann is the lead author of Integration, the power of being Co-Active in work and life, an exploration of consciousness and the future (John Hunt Publishing, 2015), as well as a ground-breaking white paper on the neuroscience of the International Coach Federation coaching competencies.  Read Ann’s blog on the brain at www.yourcoachingbrain.wordpress.com and poetry at www.eccentricspirit.wordpress.com.ann@beaboveleadership.comWebsite LinkedInIf you'd like to find out more about coaching for yourself or for your organisation, contact us to arrange a call at ann@anncollinscoaching.com or click here.We love reviews and hearing your feed back, so please go to Apple Podcasts to rate, review, subscribe and share this podcast! To find out more:website: www.anncollinscoaching.comFollow Ann:LinkedIn: annridleycollinsInstagram: @anncollinscoachYouTube: Ann Collins Coaching

This is  the second part of two episodes on time management, where I talk about a challenge that comes up very frequently for my clients:  getting to the bottom of issues around time management.    In part 1, I talked about the four beliefs around time that I frequently see holding leaders back.  We often dive into how to improve time management and we miss an important step: investigating what we believe about time.  In this episode, I look at how to change these beliefs.  I talk about my own experience of identifying a belief around time that had held me back for many years and how I started to change it using coaching techniques.  I walk you through a simple 4 step process that could help you to reflect your own beliefs around time and make dramatic shifts in the way you live your life!  This episode is a must for any busy leader! For a more detailed article, go to our blog.  If you have found this episode useful, do please leave a review or share it with someone you think could get value from it!  Thank you!  Your support is much appreciated.   UPCOMING EVENT at Ann Collins Coaching -  Monday 4th July 8pmBecome The Leader You Want "to be": ditch the "to do" listIn this webinar, we will be exploring how we can accelerate our change in our leadership by focusing less on our "to do" list and more on our "to be" list.Find out more here and book your spaceIf you'd like to find out more about coaching for yourself or for your organisation, contact us:  to arrange a call.We love reviews and hearing your feed back, so please go to Apple Podcasts to rate, review, subscribe and share this podcast! To find out more:website: www.anncollinscoaching.comFollow Ann:LinkedIn: annridleycollinsInstagram: @anncollinscoachYouTube: Ann Collins CoachingIf you'd like to find out more about coaching for yourself or for your organisation, contact us to arrange a call at ann@anncollinscoaching.com or click here.We love reviews and hearing your feed back, so please go to Apple Podcasts to rate, review, subscribe and share this podcast! To find out more:website: www.anncollinscoaching.comFollow Ann:LinkedIn: annridleycollinsInstagram: @anncollinscoachYouTube: Ann Collins Coaching
If you've ever wondered why managing time is so difficult, you're not alone!  You are probably used to reflecting on how you use your time in the bid to be more efficient, but are you questioning your own beliefs about time?  Why is that important? Our beliefs around time impact our thoughts and in turn determine our actions!  But how do we identify our beliefs about time in the first place?  This takes a bit of digging, but in this podcast, I talk about the 4 beliefs that I see commonly holding back senior leaders: Time is the problem: I need to be more efficient!Busy (and therefore time scarce) means successfulI "should" spending time doing....Downtime is a luxuryAs soon as you can identify these often hidden beliefs and consider how you might want to shift them, you start to take different action.  Tune in to hear more about these 4 beliefs and in part 2, I talk about how to change them.  For a more detailed article, go to our blog. In this episode I have an incredibly interesting conversation with Mick Williams who is passionate about helping people and organisations to manage change.   He brings a wealth of experience from a varied career including many years in the Royal Air Force and then in management consulting, but what really stood out for me are the personal qualities he brings to leadership, especially in his ability to seek out and understand the unique perspectives of people impacted by change within an organisation.  We explored many aspects of leadership from forming new teams to managing change in "difficult times" and thinking about personal change in leadership.  With Mick's positive and yet very pragmatic approach, it's easy to see why he is regarded as an inspiring and highly effective leader, bringing out the best in others around him,  with a dose of good humour too!   I left the conversation feeling inspired, with a changed perspective around talking about "difficult times" and hugely grateful to him for the opportunity to explore this topic together.   About Mick:Mick Williams is a People and Change generalist who has achieved professional impact in several fields: the armed forces; the senior civil service; and management consulting (both self-employed and ‘big four’).  He is served by a set of strong values and invaluable life experiences and, typically, gets things done by creating the conditions to allow others to succeed.  He thrives when driving the four ‘engines’ of purpose, change, governance and delivery, all with a constant focus on the people context.  It is important to Mick to be able to influence society positively and he seeks out people, organisations and projects that share his values,  Mick has just returned to freelancing in order to build more choice and variety into his professional life, with a new mantra of ‘work less, work better’. He is rarely happier professionally when the people around him grow, develop, and succeed, and he hopes that a little of that will rub off on his own professional experience.Connect with Mick on LinkedInIf you'd like to find out more about coaching for yourself or for your organisation, contact us: bluebottlecoaching@gmail.com to arrange a call.We love reviews and hearing your feed back, so please go to Apple Podcasts  and Podvine to rate, review, subscribe and share this podcast! To find out more:website: www.anncollinscoaching.comFollow Ann:LinkedIn: annridleycollinsInstagram: @anncollinscoachYouTube: If you'd like to find out more about coaching for yourself or for your organisation, contact us to arrange a call at ann@anncollinscoaching.com or click here.We love reviews and hearing your feed back, so please go to Apple Podcasts to rate, review, subscribe and share this podcast! To find out more:website: www.anncollinscoaching.comFollow Ann:LinkedIn: annridleycollinsInstagram: @anncollinscoachYouTube: Ann Collins Coaching
A short episode, but maybe one of the most important to date on the podcast!  I used to be someone who always replied, "Really busy!" when asked how I was.  When I started coaching, I realised I wasn't alone and that this stock response was quite damaging on a number of levels.  I also saw that working on it and replacing it with a more self-aware response was life changing for me and now, for my clients.  Tune in to discover my 3-step process to escaping the busyness trap for good.   Many clients find that this is the first important step towards achieving their biggest goals - maybe it could be for you too?  UPCOMING EVENTS at Ann Collins Coaching:Do check out our upcoming free events on our website!  We host one hour webinars and more in-depth workshops, for free, on a regular basis.Find out more and book your place for our next one on Monday 11th April at 8pm UK/21h CEST/12 noon PT/3pm EST : HEREIf you'd like to find out more about coaching for yourself or for your organisation, contact us: bluebottlecoaching@gmail.com to arrange a call.We love reviews and hearing your feed back, so please go to Apple Podcasts to rate, review, subscribe and share this podcast!

It's an interesting and pivotal time.  A lot of people are returning to the office (Feb 2022) after working at home for almost two years.  Opinions are mixed: some are looking forward to it, others are anxious, many expect to keep the level of flexibility they have grown to appreciate, whilst some are expecting to go back to "normal".   What are the challenges for employees?  What could organisations do to make this transition easier and make the workplace a better place in the process? In this episode, I talk about the need to embrace this opportunity to put employees at the heart of the debate and make working life a better experience.   What do you think?  Do let me know! Following on from a previous podcast with Anna Anderson, where we looked at wellbeing, I’m delighted that Anna Pinkerton accepted the invitation to join me for a conversation around burnout in the workplace and what organisations can do to address it.  We know that burnout was already a problem before the pandemic and studies have shown that it has substantially increased in the last 2 years, which is not a surprise. Now we’re seeing that increasing numbers of employees are considering leaving their jobs and in the DDI 2021 study of leadership, burnout is cited as a major reason driving people to consider changing their jobs and even their careers.Anna talked to us about her approach to burnout and in particular to what she has termed, "burnout trauma".   Tune in to find out what she means by that and her advice to leaders who wish to minimise the risk to themselves and their organisations. To pre-order her book: MyKindaLife.org About Anna:Anna has 28 years of experience in psychotherapy, consultancy and training and is a leading expert in post-trauma stress work.  She specialises in working with senior executives, leaders of organizations, and entrepreneurs who have experienced a traumatic event, or are suffering from the debil²itating effects of accumulated long-term stress.  She has written a number of books and resources and she has a new one coming out in April of this year called: My Kinda Life.  She has devised a leadership development method where she helps leaders discover and improve their inner relationship with themselves, to ensure this kindness and solidarity is projected into their working practices.Connect with Anna on LinkedInUPCOMING EVENT at Ann Collins Coaching:Join me as my guest for our one hour webinar on the 24th January: Plan your year in leadership!  What's next for you?  Click on the link to reserve your place: it's free, live and places are limited!
