After the second gruesome murder, Mackenzie and Nick decompress by getting drunk at the Reindeer Pub and Nick sees Mac's true colors. The next day, they continue their sleuthing by going to talk to the town accountant, Tom DeWitt, to see if he may have actually carried out his threats against Denver Sebastian.

Mackenzie, Cameron and Nick attend the mayor, Denver Sebastian's, dinner party, where they meet his wife, Miranda, and a colorful local accountant, Tom DeWitt. Denver and Tom get into a heated argument regarding Evergreen's forest development and things start to spiral out of control when Tom threatens Denver's life.
