This week I’m joined by Olympic Champion rower Ben Hunt-Davis MBE, who experienced the highs and the lows of achieving greatness for his country in his 20’s. But has that fulfilment been everything he thought it would be?We start off by delving into Ben's journey into the National Rowing team, exploring the challenges he faced, and how he overcame them. We then fast forward to the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, where Ben underperformed and struggled with self-doubt.Despite being treated like losers by coaches and other boats in the GB squad, Ben and his teammates didn't let that diminish their motivation to succeed. We discuss the inspiration that led them to make a change in their performance, which involved a simple question that they asked themselves before every action: Will It Make The Boat GO Faster?We also explore the courage it takes to change a regime and the balance between sacrifice, drive, and being present in the moment.
