You may not recognize his name, but you will for sure recognize his work. Davy has illustrated films such as Lion King,  Beauty and The Beast,  Aladdin, Mulan and Star Wars.⠀⠀"The founder of Kendu Films, Davy Liu, was born in Taiwan, the son of a prominent baker. As he later entered school, he earned poor grades in his academic studies resulting in very low self-esteem. He struggled with making straight A’s but was gifted in drawing straight lines.⠀⠀His family immigrated to the United States in 1982 where he met his 8th grade art teacher Poppy Kincaid. She discovered Davy’s talent and encouraged him with the words “You can do it”. That following year, Davy was selected as a top 20-award winner in a U.S. national art competition⠀⠀This instilled a confidence and passion in Davy that encouraged him to pursue art and later became a fine animator and production designer for Walt Disney Feature Animation, Warner Brother Feature Animation, and Industrial Light and Magic. Davy often recalls what his art teacher told him, “You can do it”. Therefore, Kendu Films hopes to create inspirational and wholesome content that encourages children and families everywhere to have a “Can Do” spirit.”⠀⠀Topic Discussed:⠀⠀•Teaching Michael Jackson how to draw Simba from Lion King⠀•The importance of thinking about legacy⠀•How encouragement can completely transform someone's life⠀⠀Links:⠀Web: https://kendufilms.com/⠀FB: https://www.facebook.com/Kendu-Films-Fan-Club-296124302591/⠀⠀This podcast was interviewed, produced and edited by Maxwell Frost | @maxwelljfrost | at @wolfzillaproductions.
I first met Patrick 12 years ago through our mutual friend Brad, and have been hanging out ever since. My work sparks conversation on disappearing nature and the encroachment of the modern world with subjects and their surroundings depicted in a harmony and balance that they wouldn't normally interact with. Travel and personal experiences drive the imagery used to tell specific stories in my work. I weave rich surreal elements and high detail-intensive components to create a unique viewing experience. Todays guest Matt Kim is Founder and CEO of a Web3 startup called Smoothie (withsmoothie.com), and is an expert in all things Web3. ⠀⠀What is Web3 you ask? Well, you’ve probably heard the terms NFTs, crypto currency, blockchain and Metaverse—which are all elements of Web3. We are currently living in a Web2 world, and Web3 is the next iteration of our online experience. Which has already begun.⠀⠀After this conversation, you will not only have better grasp on those terms and why they matter, but also have practical applications that not only have the potential to make you money, but also give you the competitive advantage. Especially, if you’re a creator. ⠀⠀I wanted to have Matt on this podcast because a lot of musicians and visual artists worlds have been completely flipped upside down over these past couple of years with Covid, and those industries especially are showing little to no signs of recovery. Which has caused a lot of unrest and anxiety, and fear about peoples futures. And I think, at the very least, Web3 can be a part of the solution. ⠀⠀Because Web3 is a platform that FINALLY favors creatives and entrepreneurs. Those who are actively building our experience of the future. ⠀⠀Matt's startup: Withsmoothie.com⠀Matt on Twitter: @withmattkim⠀For more on Web3, go to Whiteboard Crypto on YouTube: whiteboardcrypto.com⠀⠀@choosingfearless on Instagram is hosted, produced and edited by Maxwell Frost @wolfzillaporductions | wolfzillaprodcutions.com.
Michael Brown and I met 4 months ago at the Boulder International Film Fest, where he introduced my film Between Giants. After that screening, we stayed up with other filmmakers and explorers until 3:00 am discussing far off lands and desolate places. After that evening, I knew I needed to have Michael on my podcast, so here we are. ⠀⠀Bio:⠀Michael has excelled as both an adventure athlete and as a filmmaker. He has been to the summit of Mount Everest five times, each time with cameras rolling. His work as a director and cinematographer spans all seven continents and has won many film festivals and industry awards, including three national Emmy Awards. ⠀⠀Michael's lens has captured ice caves for NOVA, tornadoes for Discovery, science at the South Pole for National Geographic, avalanches for the BBC, and mountain climbing for four giant screen IMAX movies. Michael has made a habit of going to the world's harshest, most dangerous environments and always comes back with incredible footage and compelling stories. Outside Magazine describes the cerebral filmmaker as a "swashbuckling librarian," and Men's Journal calls him "a master of gut-dropping action." ⠀⠀Topics include:⠀⠀-Working with Erik Weihenmayer, a blind man who summited Everest and kayaked the Grand Canyon⠀-Working towards the impossible⠀-How to tell better stories⠀-Good risks vs. bad risks⠀⠀Michaels production company: seracfilms.com.⠀⠀This podcast @choosingfearless was produced and edited by Maxwell Frost @wolfzillaproductions.
Oh the tables have turned! In this interview I'm the one getting asked questions by Bob Murphy from The Grove Center.  The Grove Center helps "artists to put their work in the public sphere." And they were kind enough to give us a grant for our film Between Giants, along with facilitate this conversation. Many of Bob's questions are centered around the film I Directed, Produced and Edited called Between Giants. Which is based on a two month bicycle trip I did in the Himalayas with my friend David 4 years ago. A film David would go on to score.A few topics discussed include:How amazing people from India areSuicideCrossroads in lifeBiking the HimalayasLoss of childrenFilmmakingI have not heard back from  the religious leaders I contacted about my fear and faith mini-series I recently started, so in the meantime, I thought I’d publish this conversation. But, if you know any faith leaders who may be interested in discussing their faiths relationship to fear, please let me know through a message on Instagram @choosingfearless. Interview by Bob Murphy, produced by Deep Impression Video, edited by Maxwell Frost. Choosing Fearless: IG @choosingfearlessThe Grove Center: IG @thegrovecenter and thegrovecenter.orgBetween Giants Film: IG @wolfzillaproductions and wolfzillaproductions.comDeep Impression Video: IG @longstoryshort_tvMaxwell Frost: @maxwelljfrost

To start Season 2 I'm hanging out with pastor and author Todd Rodarmel who has a refreshing view on faith . He's far more interested in the life and teaching of Jesus than the religious trappings that often smother faith.   What ever your faith preference, I think you'll find this mini-series I start here at the beginning of Season 2 on faith and fear both interesting and helpful.   Some topics discussed include:"Courage is not the absence of fear, it’s choosing to do it anyway.”We get more of what we focus onLove casts out fear"Vision pulls you, pain drives you”Todd's book: www.amazon.com/Sustainable-Spirituality-Guidebook-Todd-Rodarmel/dp/0578420422 Todd on IG: www.instagram.com/toddrodarmel/ My film (mentioned in the intro) Between Giants: www.instagram.com/wolfzillaproductions/

My guest today is easily one of the most interesting people on the planet. She has traveled to some of the most hidden corners of the world for publications like National Geographic, Outside, BBC and Mens journal to photograph places not many foreigners have ever been.⠀⠀⁣In our conversation we discuss being sea sick for a decade, how being told you have 1-4 years to live shapes your life, and being treated like royalty at a strangers wedding in India. ⁣⠀⠀⁣There’s a reason Jody was included in Mens’ Journals 25 Most Adventurous Woman of the Past 25 Years.⁣⠀⠀⁣I met Jody 6 years ago at Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City at an after party, and have followed her work ever since.⁣⠀⠀⁣Some of the topics we discuss include:⁣⠀⠀•Adversity is always worth it⁣⠀•Learning from loss ⁣⠀•Thinking things into reality⁣⠀•Near death experiences⁣⠀•And the importance of intentionally choosing discomfort in our lives⁣⁣⠀⠀Website: https://jodymacdonaldphotography.com/⁣⠀Instagram: @jodymacdonaldphoto⁣⠀Photo Workshops: https://jodymacdonaldphotography.com/category/workshops/⁣⠀TedTalk: https://youtu.be/Loce0SVmdIw
My guest today is a wildly successful entrepreneur, who is an incredibly generous, humble and wise individual. That person is John Snyder, my mentor.⁣⁣If I were to pick the top 3 most influential people in my life over the last 10 years, John would be in the mix. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to absorb truck loads of  wisdom from John over the years during the many meals we’ve enjoyed together.⁣⁣To say John is good at starting and growing companies, is like saying Michael Jordan is good at basketball. It really couldn’t be anymore of an understatement. ⁣⁣In this episode we dive into mentorship, leadership, and entrepreneurship, including John selling his insurance company to AIG, which was valued at over $160 million dollars. ⁣⁣Some topics include:⁣Gratitude as the antidote to anxiety⁣THE most important skill for leaders ⁣Easy doesn’t mean good, and hard doesn’t mean bad⁣How serving others helps reduce anxiety⁣There doesn't have to be a loser to be a winnerJust do the next thing
I met today’s guest Adam many years ago while working at Yak and Yeti brewpub in Arvada, Colorado. Which is about 30 minutes north of Denver. At the time I was a bar tender there, and once Adam learned I was a home brewer with the dream of one day opening my own brewery, he began inviting me to brew. While at Yak and Yeti we won GABF silver for their Chai Stout.  ⁣⁣8 years later Adam opened his own brewery just outside of Milwaukee called Inventors Brewpub, where he is owner and head brewer. ⁣⁣Even if you aren’t into beer, I think you may find this conversation interesting and helpful. Because we discuss many universal truths that don’t discriminate between beer drinkers and non-beer drinkers. ⁣⁣In our discussion we talk about:⁣-Adam learning at 17 that not all weddings and events have polka bands⁣-The power of positive self talk⁣-Celebrating small wins⁣-What Adam does when he hits low points⁣-Why only drinking IPA’s is completely absurd - I’m talking to you California⁣-You don’t eat an elephant in one bite⁣⁣Inventors Brewpub⁣https://www.inventorsbrewpub.com/⁣https://www.facebook.com/CaptnAdamDraeger/
My guest for this episode is Melissa Dohse. She is the Clinical Director and Founder at Cultivate Counseling in Flagstaff,  AZ, where she currently oversees 16 therapists, and they are about to open their second location very soon. I’ve known Melissa for 10 or 11 years now. I knew her and her Husband Kris in the Denver days, and wanted to have Melissa on the show because she’s not only deep, kind, and present, but also specializes in helping people navigate trauma, fear and anxiety professionally.A few of the topics we explore are:What it takes to go deep with peopleGiving hope more weight than fearPersonifying anxietyThe idea that when we have the capacity in our lives to notice and actually be present, we often discover that the world is much safer than we realizedCultivate Counselinghttps://www.cultivatecounselingflagstaff.com/Schedule an appointment at 928.864.5024 ext. 0.

My guest today, Mikosa, is a business confidence coach who helps people conquer their fear of being visible, and empower people to show up online with confidence to attract their tribe. I met Mikosa in while I was finishing up school in Duluth, MN 11 years ago, and wanted to have her on the show because she works primarily with entrepreneurs, and now during Covid lockdown, there are a lot of people entertaining the idea of starting or launching something new. Which is what Mikosa helps people do.Even if you aren’t interested in starting something new, I think you will find this conversation helpful. Daisy helped found Sun Valley Kitchen and Community Center in Denver, CO 7 years ago. Sun Valley is the poorest community in Colorado where 50% of the residents are 18 years old and younger. This center, that Daisy runs, provides children and families in Sun Valley with opportunities for self-expression, self-awareness and personal growth. Which looks like no-cost grocery programs, cooking classes, tutoring, art, music and dance programming for kids. Just to name just a few of the many cool things they are up to over there. I’ve know Daisy for 7 wish years now, and if I were to sum her up in two words, it would be genuine and kindhearted. In our conversation we cover many topics including:Control being an illusion.Career changes.Community is stronger than the place.Instagram: @sunvalleykitchenWeb: Feedingsunvalley.com
