Frances McNamee is an extraordinary actor. Her to career to date include playing Meg in Sting's The Last Ship, Belle in A Christmas Carol, Big Fish with Kelsey Grammer among others. She is currently gaining rave reviews for playing the role of Elizabeth in Conor McPherson's award winning Girl of the North Country with music and lyrics by Bob Dylan. Donegal singer/songwriter Rory Gallagher, who has been releasing music since 2011 under the project name Rory and the Island has had quite the 17 months since the global pandemic began. After moving his family to Edinburgh in Scotland to open a brand new live music bar in the city called "The Wildcat" in March 2020, the venue never saw it's official opening night due to Covid19 and Rory Gallagher found himself locked down in a new city and very very lost.Rory and the Island is set to release his brand new single “Call My Name” on 26 February, alongside announcing the release of his highly anticipated new album “Centre Falls Apart” - which is set for release on 11 March on new Irish indie label Voices of the Sea. Speaking of the single and the announcement of the album Rory and the Island said: "I'm so delighted and shocked that 25 years after releasing my first self funded album in Donegal at the age of 18, and then moving on through "The Revs" in the noughties that I am still able to write and release my own original songs into the public domain. David Hope is releasing a new album later this year. In this episode he chats with Davie about some of his previous work and also the first single from the new album, Lover's Leap. Lovers Leap (Coast of Clare)' is an atmospheric ode to Hope's home county of Clare and its Atlantic coastline, "So wild and so strong". The song speaks to a reawakening of a deep connection and passion for County Clare’s captivating mystery: "My eyes opened wide and I saw with pride, what I'd loved for so long". The song draws inspiration from a visit to the stunning Loophead Peninsula, where a young Hope spent many summers fishing and exploring.

Michael Conlan is an Irish professional boxer. As an amateur, he reached number one in the AIBA bantamweight world rankings, with achievements that include a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics and gold at the 2015 World Championships. He has been one of Ireland's most successful amateur fighters of all time. Since turning professional he has had 16 fights, 16 wins with 8 of those fights by knock out. He is due to fight Leigh Wood for the WBA World Featherweight title in March 2022.
Dublin-based The Crayon Set specialise in hook-filled, alternative pop. The band was founded by main songwriter Robert Baker and the first line-up of the band released their eponymous debut album in 2013. It is filled choc-a-bloc with infectious, uptempo indie pop songs. The Irish Times described it as “as catchy as a virus”. Its follow up ‘Lost Languages’ was released in 2017. The album was in part a tribute to many of their favourite 'Americana' artists. It featured Kate Dineen on guest vocals who went on to become a full-time member of the band. Musician.ie made it their Irish album of the year. Their new album 'Downer Disco' is due out in Sept 2021. It was recorded with producer Stephen Shannon at Experimental Audio in Dublin in 2019. The release was put on hold due to Covid ’19. It is their strongest album to-date filled with their trademark expertly-crafted pop songs & dual girl/boy vocal interplay - this time with added synth-pop & electronic goodness.
As an artist Tanya McCole is one of the finest singer/songwriters in this isle of Ireland and beyond. These songs touch the soul in such a way that I have no doubt they will be enjoyed for many years to come. In 2018 Tanya went back to the studio with a fresh batch of songs and recorded "Because Of You".In stark contrast to "Love, Hate & The Blues”, this new album is stripped back to reveal her uniquely distinctive voice and songwriting ability.That same year she fulfilled a lifelong dream of touring with Grammy award winner John Prine.

Rachel Grace is a rising singer/songwriter hailing from County Wexford. She is a proudly homegrown independent artist and has been self-funded since she first started writing music. She burst onto the scene at the tender age of 13 with the release of her first album, ‘Song For You’, displaying a level of songwriting that is often described as being well beyond her years. In 2018 she released a five-track EP, ‘Routes’, with it’s single ‘You Don’t Know’ quickly reaching number three in the iTunes Charts and receiving airplay from Ireland’s number one radio station, RTÉ Radio 1. Colm Gavin is an emerging Singer/Songwriter phenomenon from Dublin. Performing from the ripe age of 14 and writing from the age of 10 he has performed across Ireland and further afield, sharing the stage with acts as varied as Glen Hansard, ORB, Liam O’Maonlai, John Spillane, Orla Keogh, Kíla, Damien Rice and also played at the inaugural opening night of the musical “Once” in Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre. In the past his music has been featured on RTE TV and Radio, College Radio Stations across the country and has he also been featured on NME’s main website. September 2014 saw the release of his Debut Solo EP “Your Endless Slumber” which spent the week of its release at No.1 in the iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts and garnered widespread attention from a number of Irish independent Record Labels. In 2015 he released his album A Voice for the Urban Darlings and in 2021 he released his new EP, The 1992 Tapes
Galia Arad is an American singer/songwriter who is currently based in Dublin. Galia’s classical musician parents and classical voice training steered her directly into the arms of rock ‘n’ roll. She has toured the USA, Ireland, England (supporting Jools Holland), and Japan (where she not only gigged, but was the first place winner of a sake chugging contest and runner up of a wet kimono contest.) As for her less impressive accomplishments, she is the winner of Songwriter Hall of Fame's Abe Olman award for Excellence in Songwriting, and winner of The Great American Song competition. Galia, with much noise, has also caught the attention of one of her music idols, Shane MacGowan (from The Pogues), who wrote the liner notes for her sophomore album "Ooh La Baby", and is featured on two tracks.
Steo Wall is an emerging talent on the Irish music scene, a striking wordsmith with a unique musical style. His live sets have been described as pure alchemy. Steo has an eclectic taste to his music which shines through the multi-genre array of songs at his disposal. Barry Geraghty is one of the finest and most successful jockeys Ireland has ever produced. With over 1,900 career wins, 43 Cheltenham festival winners, an English and Irish Grand National winner and Irish Champion jump jockey twice, Geraghty has had a glittering career in the saddle. Not without its lows, however, with multiple injuries and career setbacks Geraghty showed incredible mental strength to keep coming back eventually retiring in 2020, fourth on the all time winners list. In this extended and thoughtful chat with Davie, Barry picks five of his favourite songs. They discuss his recent autobiography, True Colours, his relationship with the legendary Nicky Henderson and JP McManus plus his partnerships with some extraordinary horses like Moscow Flyer and Sprinter Sacre.

Lewis is an Irish/English singer songwriter, musician and educator who works with an uncomplicated loveliness of sound, blending ethereal, evocative vocals with original compositions and reinventions of traditional songs from across Ireland and the UK. A pioneer of Folk, Lewis is a timeless and gifted storyteller who captivates listeners with her fearless lyrics, gorgeous otherworldly voice, and satisfying arrangements. Frequently compared to the likes of Ane Brun, Kate Rusby and Julie Fowlis. Her debut album, Glenaphuca released on 5th March 2021 has received great support from RTÉ 1, FRUK, BBC Radio Ulster and RTÉ na Gaeltachta.“Dad.. why are you always hiding in a band.. release your own music!” Stuck at home (er ..only a Home of the Year finalist 2015) during Covid 19, Ger Eaton, creative director, future planner, musical collaborator and style savant, heeded this advice from his recently self-appointed A&R daughter, 18 year old Jude, dusted off his old 4 Track Tape machine, and is finally releasing his first solo project single entitled “I Thought I’d a Friend”. Jude had noted that while her Dad had worked with Duke Special, Jack L, Mundy, Fionn Regan & The Pale (to name just a few), appeared on Later with Jools Holland, played Glastonbury, toured extensively at home and in the US with his own bands Las Vegas Basement, The Carnival Brothers and (her favourite) Les Marionettes, he had never released music as a solo artist. “Your like that old guy…” she said “Brian Eno.. you always stand out from the rest”. As creative director and fashion forecaster of 25 yrs for the chic Robert Chambers Hair Salon, Ger has indeed used his creative talents to turn everything he encounters (including himself) into a visual kaleidoscope of flair. Now Ger, while ruefully accepting that the modern A&R approach has changed, is taking Jude’s advice when releasing “I Thought I’d a Friend”. Jude maintains that due to her Dad’s unique look and interests he can appear in any number of media formats (such as fashion, hairdressing, styling, and interior design) as well as, of course… the usual music ones!
Sean Boylan chooses 5 songs that have helped shape is life. Seán is a GAA legend in every sense of the word. He retired from his position as manager of the Meath GAA Senior Football team in 2005 after twenty-three years in charge. During his time with Meath, he managed the team to four All-Ireland Senior Football Championships (1987, 1988, 1996, 1999), three National Football League titles, and eight Leinster Senior Football Championships. In recognition of his services to Meath GAA and his services to Meath as a county, Boylan was conferred as Freeman of the County of Meath. He was entered into the GAA Hall of Fame for his services to Meath football in 2006. Seán is also a traditional herbalist practicing at Edenmore, Dunboyne. The art and science of the traditional herbalists within the Boylan family can be traced as far back as the 15th century. Each generation has fostered the knowledge of their ancestors, but adapted successfully to the needs of the clients in the times they live in. Dunboyne Herbs is a multi-disciplinary clinic primarily treating through herbalism, but also incorporating other therapies such as massage.

This much anticipated album follows her last release, ‘Ghost of You’ (June 2018) which hit #1 on the iTunes singer/songwriter charts in the UK and Ireland.Gerry Tully is a native of Meath, Ireland, who has carved himself a reputation as an outstanding performer, entertaining crowds with his own evocative style. A natural, self-taught musician, he is a compelling performer delivering classic folk songs with a rich and assured style. Gerry’s original songs are mesmerising, political and caring, thoughtful and haunting.
Susan Quirke is a singer, songwriter, musician, meditation teacher, and also a multi-award-winning social entrepreneur for her work in the field of well-being and mental health. Susan believes music and meditation are powerful forces for healing and transformation in the world. Cormac O'Caoimh is an Irish singer/songwriter with several albums under his belt. His intimate vocals, magical melodies and exquisite guitar playing has always attracted very favourable appeal to critics (with Mojo, The Irish Times, HotPress, R2, Americana UK, OndaRock in Italy and many more) always quick to point to his unique style as well as comparisons to acts varying from the dreamy pop of The Go Betweens, Badly Drawn Boy, Elliott Smith and Prefab Sprout to the introspective and more folk-oriented Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen and Paul Simon. But he sees himself as a pop song-writer. When pop was good.Varo are singers and fiddle players Lucie Azconaga and Consuelo Nerea Breschi. They perform Irish traditional songs and tunes with arrangement influences from the Folk, Baroque and Classical traditions, weaving around the melodies with harmonies, drones and countermelody. Lucie, from France, and Consuelo, from Italy, met in 2015 after moving to Dublin to pursue their love for Irish traditional music, and immediately started a fruitful collaboration. They travelled to Ireland along different musical paths, Lucie from jazz, classical music, and French folk, Consuelo from Irish trad, folk, and world music. Lucie and Consuelo have been involved in various other projects, such as Landless, Lisa O' Neill's Band, Ye Vagabonds, The Morning Tree, Alasourse, The Nomadic Piano Project.
Mike Hanrahan is a singer-songwriter and guitarist. Mike spent fifteen years with Stockton's Wing as songwriter, guitarist and singer, and ten years with Ronnie Drew as guitarist, writer and producer. His book, Beautiful Affair, a journey in music, food and friendship, was shortlisted for the National An Post Book Awards in 2019. The album Beautiful Affair - Stockton’s Wing - A Retrospective went to number 1 in January 2020.

With a poet’s heart and a rockster’s soul, Luka Bloom is regarded as one of Ireland’s best-respected contemporary folk artists, having produced 20 albums since the 1970s, Bloom continues to push the boundaries of what his music can do.
Charlie McGettigan started his musical career in the 1960s in various rock bands in Donegal. Moving to Dublin in 1968 he honed in on the thriving folk scene there at the time. In 1973, Charlie formed the highly successful group Jargon, which went on to win the prestigious Letterkenny Folk Festival, following in the footsteps of bands like Clannad and Pumpkinhead. Charlie has worked with artists like Maura O’Connell and Eleanor Shanley who both recorded many of his songs including “Feet of a Dancer”, “A Bed for the Night” and “If Anything Happened to You”. Charlie joined forces with Paul Harrington and Brendan Graham to win the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest for Ireland with “Rock n Roll Kids”. He has released many solo albums including “In Your Old Room”, “Family Matters” “ The Man from 20” and “Stolen Moments” produced in Nashville by legendary producer Bil Vorndick. Charlie’s songs have been recorded by many artists including De Danann, Mary and Frances Black, Ray Lynam, Daniel O’Donnell, Sandy Kelly and Hal Ketchum to name but a few. These days Charlie tours both here in Ireland and abroad. He presents “The Saturday Connection” on Shannonside/Northern Sound Radio, a two hour programme where he previews live music and theatrical events, interviews guests from the world of arts and entertainment and plays an eclectic mix of music and song on CD. As well as serving on the Board of IMRO, Charlie is also a member of the Board of The Dock Arts Centre in Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim.
Born into the legendary Black Family, Aoife is steadily rising to the top of the traditional and folk music scene, and has long enjoyed success as an established artist in her own right. Fragile and ethereal one minute and strong and vibrant the next, her dynamic and profound vocals explore the emotional depths of her lyrics, leaving the audience entranced. Aoife has a unique sound, Her music has a broad creative scope but is largely influenced by her own roots in folk and traditional Irish music.
