Description

Mintal* - A word describing a place or event that was both mental and mint (Geordie slang for great). Example - 'that party last night was mintal!!!' - *Source - Urban Dictionary. Mintally Speaking is a terribly named podcast hosted by Chris Hart that discusses Mental Health, it is not slick, nor professional, we may even swear. But we do take the topic seriously and want to do our bit to eradicate the stigma around Mental Health. Each episode I invite a new Co-Host on and we interview each other and discuss Mental Health, while not taking ourselves too seriously.

After some technical difficulties, we got there in the end. I absolutely love this episode and it could have ended up being so much longer. With me having BPD and Jamie Bipolar, we discussed the misconceptions and similarities of both. The fact that they often get misdiagnosed as each other, we both learnt a lot about the differences we both experience and why people may confuse one with the other. We also talk about Mental Health at work, which is something very important to both Jamie and I, and why it is essential that the conversation happens in the workplace. And finally we talk about Mental Health after Covid and how there is actually more work to do once Covid has gone. You can download and stream on all the usual platforms now.
After a brief hiatus, Mintally Speaking is back with Episode 6.This week my co-host is Nick Elston who is a Motivational & Inspirational Speaker who has been featured on the BBC.We focus this episode around three main topics, Life in Lockdown, The Physical Side to Mental Health and Mental Health in the 202's.
Dan McNeil joins me as my Co-Host for this episode, which could be our most honest and in-depth yet. We focus on Mental Health in pop culture, how it’s represented, glamourised, honestly portrayed and my cynicism of it. We go into Male Body Confidence and the lack of, how shared experiences from our childhood have effected us to this day. And we talk a little bit about self-medicating and what effect it had on me.
Listening back to this, I loved this episode. Such a good chat with Jonny, aka, The Anxious Fireman.Jonny joins me as my Co-Host for this episode, he is a Fire Fighter, Counsellor, Mental Health Trainer and 999 Responder. We talk about his Anxiety and how that affects his job as a Firefighter, the irrationality and absurdity of Anxiety and how just because one thing makes you anxious, doesn't mean another thing will.We go into Social Anxiety and the stress of seeing your mates, the Male Ego and what we tell our kids.If anyone wants to reach out to Jonny, you can find him here:The Anxious Fireman
Jack Morrow joins me as my Co-Host for this episode. Not only do me and Jack know each other, we work together, not only that, but, I am also his Manager.Cue Hilarity.Jack gives me an honest review of our first 12 months together. He loves me really. And aside from talking about my weird cleaning my teeth and flushing the toilet routine, Jack talks about his own experience with Mental Health and his journey to opening up. We also talk about grief and the similarities to depression, the difficulties of explaining social anxiety to friends and family and how part-time addiction works.
Our first full episode is in the bag and available for download. Did it go smoothly? KindaDid we have a laugh? A few.Did we swear? F**k yeah we didRebecca Kilpatrick joins me as my first Co-Host in this series. Rebecca is an ex-Detective and now a freelance Mental Health Trainer and Child Safeguarding Trainer. We talk about my diagnosis of BPD and ADHD, how I dealt with being High Functioning for most of my life and Rebecca talks honestly and openly about her experience of having a still born and how that affected her and her work.We also talk about Rebecca's love of Motivational Quotes, why her favourite colour actually means she secretly hates nature and my experience of seeing a Goth for the first time.If you would like to reach out to Rebecca for any Mental Health Awareness and First Aid training, she can be found at:@kilpatrickconsultancy | Linktree
