Katie & Cairo are joined by special guest Menios Papadimitriou, a PhD candidate in Fordham University's Department of Religion, to discuss Orthodoxy and its relationship to Greek Identity.  Menios focuses his research on the history of American Orthodox Christianity and its contemporary issues. His work is driven by questions regarding the engagement of religion and modernity and the tension between institutional religious structures and everyday religious expression. He holds an M.Th and an M.Div from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Seminary and a J.D. from Tulane University. Katie & Cairo are joined by special guest Dr. Sebastian Matzner of King's College London for a conversation about his life, work, and the classical canon.Sebastian Matzner is Senior Lecturer in Comparative Literature and Director of Queer@King’s (Centre for Research and Teaching in Gender and Sexuality Studies) at King’s College London. Trained in both Classics and Comparative Literature, his research focuses on interactions between ancient and modern literature and thought, especially in the fields of poetics and rhetoric, literary and critical theory, traditions of classicism, the history of sexualities, and LGBTQ studies. Aside from articles and book chapters on a range of topics in these fields, he is the author of Rethinking Metonymy: Literary Theory and Poetic Practice from Pindar to Jakobson(Oxford University Press, 2016, pb 2019) as well as co-editor of Complex Inferiorities: The Poetics of the Weaker Voice in Latin Literature (Oxford University Press, 2018; with S. Harrison) and Metalepsis: Ancient Texts, New Perspectives (Oxford University Press, 2020; with G. Trimble).
