“Boats annnnd!” Tonight on the Live Feed we have more Boats & Bluegrass for ya with a live performance from Carriage House. Carriage house is a husband and wife folk duo based in the driftless region. In September 2023 they brought their unique blend of ethereal melodies and heartfelt lyrics to the stage at Boats and Bluegrass here in Winona, MN. And now, we are bringing that experience to you, faithful KQAL listener! I’m Bill Stoneberg and I’d like to add that in addition to ethereal melodies and heartfelt lyrics, Carriage House also plays exquisitely intangible music with words that seem to have a deep meaning to them… hmmmm, well, here they are, LIVE from Boats and Bluegrass 2023, it’s Carriage House, tonight on The Live Feed.Original Airdate: 01/12/24The Live Feed is produced by KQAL FM on the campus of Winona State University and is made possible by a grant from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
“Boats annnnd!” Tonight on the Live Feed we take you back to Boats and Bluegrass 2023 for a LIVE performance from Feeding Leroy. Feeding Leroy, outta Duluth, MN, has been a staple at Boats and Bluegrass longer than some folks can remember, and with good reason! One reason might be that some folks can’t remember too well, but that’s not the good reason I was talking about. The good reason they keep comin back to Boats is that they do a darned good job playin’ darned good string band music of their own making. What we’re about to hear is something of a special Boats & Bluegrass performance… yea, yea, I know, they’re all special, but this one is a just a little more special… ya see there were some technical difficulties that day because of the weather, on account of a little storm rollin’ through. And well, some things got switched around, stages and time slots may have been swapped a bit and well, long story short, Feeding Leroy here ended up playing an intimate acoustic set in the crowd under a big tent with no amplification. So yea, it was pretty darned special. And just goes to show ya that Feeding Leroy really is the real deal. Well, I feel like I’m ramblin’ again so as they say, less talkin’ and more rockin’! I’m Bill Stoneberg sayin’ listen up! ‘cause this here’s the real deal, it's real, it’s original, it’s country music from way up north there on the north shore… It’s Feeding Leroy, LIVE from Boats and Bluegrass 2023, tonight on The Live Feed.Original Airdate: 01/05/24.The Live Feed is produced by KQAL FM on the campus of Winona State University and is made possible by a grant from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
“Boats annnnd!” Tonight on the Live Feed we take you back to Boats and Bluegrass 2023 for a LIVE performance from The Pistol Whippin’ Party Penguins! Whew! That is a mouthful. And they’re not really penguins, and I don’t think they go around pistol whippin’ folks either. But what they do… um do, is play some good ol’ traditional American string band music with their own spin on it, ‘cause ya gotta put a spin on it! Ahhhg, but what do I know, let’s let the penguins speak for themselves! I’m Bill Stoneberg and pardon my Portugues but without further procrastination, let’s pick up the pace and proceed to whoop it up with the well-played pleasing modern melodies of the Pistol Whippin’ Party Penguins, LIVE from  Boats and Bluegrass 2023, tonight on the Live Feed.Original Airdate: 12/29/23The Live Feed is produced by KQAL FM on the campus of Winona State University and is made possible by a grant from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
